Sat the kids down an hour before kick off to tell them their mum has brain cancer (genuinely, sorry for the gloom).

Put the game on hoping for something, anything, some fight, to give us a bit of a lift.

And then they do that. Cnuts. All of them.
Oh man, that's awful. I'm very sorry to hear about that. :(

It’s not on McTominay directly, and he hasn’t been directly at fault, but his glaring deficiencies wear down the side. In the same way that De Gea hasn’t been directly at fault in any of the goals, but his lack of authority and sweeping make City’s aggression in front of goal easier. In the same way that Rashford hasn’t directly been at fault, but his complete lack of intensity from the front makes it easier for City to play out. In the same way Fernandes constantly loses the ball by instantly going for a killer pass.

And so on and so on… our squad from a profile perspective fecking reeks. How can we spend so much but still have a side that knows how to do nothing but counter?
    Well said.

The gulf in class is just immense.

pointless making scape goats. No one can live with city when they are in this mood..

changes needed 2nd half for damage limitation. We look lightweight in midfield.
That’s a cop out. Other teams have come up against city this year and put up a much better fight. Teams who we would say are worse than us.

We have a team of players who fall apart at the slightest sign of pressure. Same thing happened against Brentford. High pressure game today, Sancho, Rashford, Bruno cannot pass the ball. Somehow, in a matter of months, we’ve turned Eriksen into a player that does the same.

I don't understand why we can't do this.
The worst is when the City defenders jusr casually strolls into midfield with the ball without anyone following them. They constantly outnumber us in midfield because their defenders and “wingers” moves into midfield and our players don’t follow them. Grealish and Foden are just doing whatever they want because no one is marking them.

Our front 4 is doing nothing defensively…

It’s hardly digging him out to say we spent too much on him.
The whole team is playing bad, yet there are plenty of posts in this thread criticising specific players. Antony is not exempt from this simply because he's "new"

The assessment of 100M's being crazy for Antony is not based on his appearances for United. He has never at any point of his short career been close to/or shown potential worthy of said price tag.
€100M’s is totally different to £100m’s

Granted it works out to be £87M approx.

So we’ll see. But we all know what happens to putting too much pressure on transfer fees…..

Klopp eased up on us when they were toying with us last season. The peanut headed cnut will not be doing the same.

Malacia chosen the wrong game to have his first poor performance for us. Antony been anonymous. Eriksen has been woeful too. Sancho arguably worst of the lot for me, given it away every time he’s had it pretty much

City's been good but United's players have humiliated themselves. No attitude or will to even try and compete.

Casemiro needed to start this game. We can't only make changes after a thrashing.
What has he shown in his previous appearances that he deserved to start? There is nothing wrong with the starting lineup part from maybe an unfit Rashford. The players simply not putting in an effort. Trotting around giving away simple passes. Hoofing the ball every chance they get. City will punish any team that plays like we’re playing today. Stupid mistakes, stupid challenges, and not doing the basics is what lost this match from the first minute. We may not have won either either way but it didn’t have to be like this.

I’ve turned it off but I’m sure you’ll all get you wish and see Casemiro, Shaw, Ronaldo and company come on. City will take their foot off the gas and the subs will be credited as making a difference.

    Haaland is a cheat code.
But our front have been atrocious to. Rashford and Sancho have been worthless.
McT back to his worst. Bruno doing nothing but throw the ball away. Eriksen alone in midfield and has been completely marked out the game. Martinez has looked toothless. I want him to hurt Foden. Our players don't hurt them enough. Foden and Grealish suddenly look good because we aren't aggressive at all.

McT, Bruno, Sancho out. In with Case, Martial and Fred. Move to Eriksen to AM.

McTominay played well in games where we’ve been out-possessed in every midfield battle, so he’s been the undroppable starter
This is a catch 22. McT being a starter is one of the main proponents of our team being out-possesed.

Don't even try to pretend that ronaldo would be as poor as sancho and rashford have been. the problems start each time when we don't hold the ball up front - then they just break on us. antony and bruno might as well have stayed in bed

Think Casemiro will start after this game from now on, so much space in the middle, also think Oliver screwed us by booking both fullbacks after one tackle, Malacia more deserved than Dalot in my opinion.

I understand why EtH has stuck with McT and Eriksen as they’ve done so well in the previous four games, but you can’t be this open vs City.

Casemiro has to start and he needs to be with two 8s. We’re so open and it’s so easy for City to pass through us. Casemiro and 2 from Fred/McT/Eriksen would have made much more sense and given us some solidity in the middle.
I agree. We would have needed 3 in midfield. Well, not that it would have made that much of a difference

But that's the hardest thing and biggest difference between City and the rest. And that's why this was or anything close was not happening against Arsenal.
Yes I am aware, that is the point. I saw the alarm in the victory against Arsenal and knew that we wouldn’t get away with a similar performance, despite the win.

We cannot keep the ball unless the game is played at a ridiculously slow tempo. We have never been a high-tempo passing and moving team for pretty much most of my life.

Can't win duels, can't place the football. They are better in every aspect of the game but the difference in passing is mind boggling. How are our guys not able to place a single ball properly.

There's a gulf in quality between both sides, but I feel like we do it to ourselves way too often. Naive of EtH to set up against City the way he did just because it narrowly worked against some teams. Even the win against Arsenal. City are better than whatever teams we have faced and can pass circles around you in midfield and in around your box.

We needed Casemiro in there. With either Mctominay or Fred and one of Eriksen or Bruno ahead of them

I can already see it now Ronaldo planting the seeds against Ten Hag and why are he and Casemiro sitting on the bench for these pretenders? Leaks will be starting again for sure.
Sorry, but I won't be taking any notice of leaks and Ronaldo needs to have a good hard look at himself. He was one of the reason they lost midweek. Old and past it and he needs to realise it.

Well, reality descending like a lead balloon. We are getting half chances, and without a ruthless finisher we need to create a lot more chances - and we can’t get on the ball enough. Eriksen is the only attacker with quality to unlock Cuty, but City doesn’t have deficiencies in their squad like Dalot, and Lindelof, and Rashford as a goal-scoring threat is simply on another planet compared to Haaland.

Foden is the most chav-looking chav I’ve ever seen. fecking scrote. When did Haaland start looking like a caveman? His facial structure looks like heavy steroid use, but the FA would care about illegal doping as much as they’d care about sports washing.

It is weird to see this Oil City monstrosity and (some) people acting like there’s nothing amiss with a state owning a club. Some people are acting like this is a fact everyone should just forget, when it is like doping in the Tour de France. It’s not a small detail. FFP is a disgrace.

What can we do at this point? We need Antony and Sancho to attack their man, not stop and pass inside. We need Eriksen to get on the ball, and this is the worst I’ve seen him in United colors. Bruno is sloppy as well, but we know this. Why have Casemiro and not play him?

I hate this City team and Guardiola. And it’s only getting worse. In time Newcastle will join City. And the announcers don’t say anything.

The red shirt fits some players. For others it's too big. So many players with stage fright, not for the first time. When players on tens, some of them hundreds, of thousands a week can't pass five yards...

Don't blame anyone for leaving. The players have not turned up, look toothless, sloppy, not up for it. You can point at ETH with the selection of both Bruno and Erikson but both are experienced enough to rise to the occasion. I hope we see 4 changes at half time.

There was always the risk we got battered. City are that good and that clear of everyone. The goal is Ten Hag can take us somewhere close ish to that level, and Pep fecks off and that's the realistic target. It is what it is.

We looked terrified from the start and everyone has been misplacing passes all game. I'd say Lisandro Martinez has individually done as well as he could, but the rest have had shockers. No reds, no injuries and that's all I can ask for for the rest of this game tbh.
Varane may have picked up an injury
