Wonder if he will be a manager more willing to implement the five subs properly. I don't think he will put up with someone not performing and will not be worried about offending anybody by hauling them off the pitch.

Have we even got five first teamers for the bench?

You do know ETH doesn't really rate AWB and that's why we were open to selling him. Rightfully so.

    Dalot will start 100%.

Are you a child? Your comprehension in this post would seem to suggest that. How the feck do you think we went from ‘5th/6th to 3rd on the final day?’ Did the teams above us get docked points? Did we get 15 points for beating Leicester? Clearly, the teams that were 3rd and 4th were also ‘lingering’ around 5th and 6th right up until the final day and had not been better than us.

If we can manage to finish 3rd once all the games are done, we were the 3rd best team over the course of the season. The teams that were better than us in November and December could not possibly have been better than us all the way up until May, otherwise they would not have finished below us. While they were busy being NOT better than us, we were obviously the better team, and according to the table - we were better for longer than they were. I’m sorry, but it is idiotic to claim that we were some how 5th/6th best over the course of the season - yet somehow managed to finish 3rd. It’s literally impossible.
You're free to keep your head buried in sand if you think that season was a 'good' season.

I think we will see the importance of this more and more as the season progresses, will be interesting which managers take advantage of it quickest and most frequently. I suspect we will even start to see managers making subs in the 1st half more commonly too. If they want to make a tactical adjustment there's no need to wait 45 or 60 minutes when there's 5 subs to use.

For this game/this United squad atm, I'm not sure how many of our subs EtH would trust or see as being able to change the game though. My guess would be we might see one or both fullbacks being subbed fairly frequently, given the demands put on full backs these days. With only 3 subs, changing a full back was usually seen as a bit of a waste.

    I'm excited but super anxious.

I wonder how long it's going to take for us to just look forward to a game without getting nervous? It's the trauma of never knowing what you gonna get from this team :D

Anyway, we just need a win, if only to keep the toxicity away for a bit...

Let’s fecking batter them and getting a positivity going for once.

All we need is a convincing win here and the whole narrative changes.

Certainly worked out well after our 5-1 win on opening day last year :wenger:

Good thing or bad? Considering the cry babies we've in the team
Should be good, everyone in the stadium early, doing nothing but focus on the task at hand, I do believe we'll be seeing more of this like traveling to away games a day before the games.

The same can be argued about our rivals that they finished above us and are finishing above us due to our meltdown post fergie. Doesn’t mean that their achievements are diminished in any form. In the same way neither should ours be dismissed due to our rivals having a bad season.
    Post Fergie. Give me strength.
It was 9 years ago. How long do we continue with this narrative . 20 years 50 years?
Its no wonder the club is stuck in the past if the fans clearly are and continually give this excuse.

i think the season will depend on the likes of rashford. if he can hit the kind of form he showed two years back and maintain it, then you never know. about finding stride under eth and players with disappointing performances last season rectifying it this season. interested to see how it begins.

If Ronaldo starts and scores there's going to be some very conflicted cry babies in here.
Why? I'd like him gone, but as long as he's here I'll take what he can give us - we are all rooting for United after all.

Shaw is out with a fever. But I am really nervous about Malacia playing next to Martinez. They are 2 "small" defenders next to each other, and I would try to take advantage of it if I were Brighton

I have a feeling he will go with McFred.
I guess I'm just still clinging to the hope that McFred will be used against bigger teams, with Eriksen against park-the-bussers. Not that Brighton will necessarily do that, but surely we should be considered clear favourites.

Hoping for a buzzing atmosphere at Old Trafford.

We had a manager that was doomed last year.

This season is a fresh start but the negativity surrounding the club is just going to make things a lot trickier. Changing the narrative will do us the world of good.

Why are you hoping for McFred against big teams? Giving them auto wins is a bad thing :nono:

    Agreed.

I will repeat again, we as fans need to stop feeding into the negativity. Don't give these useless excuses for journalists any oxygen. Cut off the clicks and engagements. That's how they make their money. It doesn't help our club. We need to be disciplined.

I know we have problems, but adding to it is not the solution. Plus we need to give ETH some space to do his job with as little shit as possible. Otherwise we are never getting out of this.

This team have to restore the supporters trust they downed tools too many times last season. I hope for the best but fear they do not have the desire to succeed.

So you took two words out of the whole post and that too out of context? Go back again and read it. I never gave that as an excuse. Just pointed it out how ridiculous the other poster’s arguments sound.

Brighton aren't the most physical or big team and they don't really play that way anyway so I don't think it should be a big issue.

I think you will keep left wing tight with AWB defensively sound and ask Bruno to go full attack and ericsen to be close with Fred and impact the game with long passing. Will be defensively stable but also attack wise impactful with that.

If dalot go and join attack will be too exposed for their wing back system in my opinion.
