Let's hope that Martinez's brilliance will kick in and he'll do something as stupid as putting Lukaku on the wing, just like against Liverpool.

I highly doubt Everton will play a first team in Russia on Thursday, or anything close to it.

However, I'm not sure their squad is big enough for all of their first teamers to be left back at home, so some of them might face the long journey anyway, which isn't a bad thing for us.

For anyone who was desperate to see us in the dreaded Europa, you only have to look at how Tottenham and Everton have started with it.
It sucks the life out of your season, and we're not exactly full of life at the moment as it is

Everton are in poor form, and yet no one's comparing them to Moyes' Everton this year...

Old Moysie must have a wry smile on his face

Moyesy's Everton always had a poor start, bar some exceptions.

Good thing is that Everton playing away in Russia on thursday night, should be tired for this early game.
Jesus, that shouldn't be allowed. I'm not complaining too much for our sake but that is a fecking disgrace from the premier league, should be monday night at the earliest.

If you have a very small squad like Everton it can do that, but we had a massive squad who I think would be better being in europe.

Everton will rest the majority of their first 11 on Thursday. I'm sure of that. Mata is going to have to track back quite a bit vs Everton and put himself about a bit. I know that's not the kind of player he is but we play 2 strikers so he's going to have to do his fair bit of defensive work.

If i have to pick one game where we shouldnt play 442 diamond in the league, it will be against Everton. We cant afford to give their fullbacks a free run by playing narrow midfield and allowing them to cross without any pressure. We should play with wingers to keep their fullbacks under check. The attacking forays of Baines can be used to get Everton in to trouble if we are to play Di Maria against him. Also Everton will have 2 defensive midfielders, so it wont be wise for us to attack through the middle as in our diamond formation.

    De Gea
    Rafael McNair Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Blind
    Di Maria Mata Januzaj
    Falcao

We will get the best out of Di Maria, Mata and Falcao.

Agreed. Chelsea didn't suffer from playing in the Europa League because they had a big squad. Teams like Everton, Real Sociedad, etc... suffer because they don't have the squad to compete in Europe and domestically at the same time.

The two leakiest defences of all the Premier League's top sides. This could be an absolute goalfest. A high-scoring draw, would be my guess.

No doubt in my mind that we will win this match. Martinez plays to open and we have to many players to exploit that this season.

Totally agree - add to that the fact that Mata doesn't offer the same defensive protection as Rooney and I'd play your team - maybe with Smalling ahead of McNair

We might win or we might lose, we could even draw. One thing is for sure though, we are playing everton.

Given Everton's mid-week exertions, I would expect us to win this one. Could the loss of Rooney be a blessing in disguise? I think Mata is our best no.10 and that it was very harsh to drop him after 8 goals in 10 games.

Also, two games in a row in which we have looked completely overloaded with forwards. People may say that Rooney can work back better than Mata; however, Mata works better with the midfield. His short passing is far better than Rooney's, meaning that we will give the ball away less and thus reducing the pressure on the defence.

Expecting Van Gaal to stick with the same formation with Smalling coming in for McNair (if fit) and Mata coming in for Rooney.

Would like to see more of Januzaj.

If we do play 442 with two wingers, I think LVG will bench either Falcao or Mata. RVP will definitely play.

Would like to see Januzaj get some minutes in either Herrera or Di Maria's position. I guess he could play up top too, considering that the players tend to go wide.

Hopefully, Falcao starts producing goals in this game. I would rest Van Persie and give falcao the role of being the target man upfront in the same mold Chelsea are using Diego Costa.

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    Blind - Herrera
    Mata
Januzaj - Falcao - Di Maria

Hopefully Herrera is ok for this one as we'll need him, people putting januzaj in over rvp against everton?

It another way to say that I would not mind seeing Van Persie dropped. I do not believe he deserve to be dropped after his somewhat good performance last game, but I want to give our attack more pace and width. Morever, give Falcao the sole responsibility of getting goals as I just replaced him for Rooney in my fantasy team .

With playing in Russia on a thursday, our general form and missing important players i can't see us winning here. Coleman needs to play to give us a chance, i can't stress how important he is even though he is right back. Probably need Pienaar to be fit also because i don't think McGeady is up to much, Lukaku needs to bully one of your young defenders if they have to play and that is probably our best chance of something.

    Howard
    Coleman
    Stones
    Jagielka
    Baines
    Barry
    McCarthy
    Mcgeady
    Naismith
    Pienaar
    Lukaku

That is the starting 11 i expect to see, but it all depends what we play on Thursday.

It's a strange front 3, ADM doesn't score much goals, although he has two so far, Falcao is yet to score and Januzaj doesn't get that much goals either, somehow you prefer those 3 over RVP.

Two goals in two games now and RVP deserve to start. Why are we changing the formation for Everton again?

Have to hope Jones is back for this one.

    DeGea
    Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera diMaria
    Mata
    vanPersie Falcao
Absolutely no reason this won't be the team. Simply depends on Jones being fit.
Otherwise will he go McNair or Blackett? Probably McNair to keep the left foot/right foot combo at the back. But let's hope it's Jones, as Lukaku is a beast

How can it be the best formation when we are yet to set up that way this season? I don't get it........
In the sense of on paper, thats imo by far the most balanced team, and with all the players in the right positions. Our best striker (on paper) plays, our best #10 plays, our best wingers are playing, our best midfielders are playing and our best defenders are playing. Arguably Smalling in for Jones/Rojo.
