We should trash them if we play our best team or comfortably win with the probable mix of best and fringe... although this season, fringe is more like youth.

So do I.I think we should take the Europa League seriously.
.
Does Ole play the youth? He said he would, but I've not seen any evidence of this thus far.Silver lining, these games could be useful for building confidence and playing youth.

If by youth you mean he is not playing 6 first year players every game, yes. Otherwise McTominay has started every game, so has Rashford and James has cemented himself on the right wing. Wan Bissaka is only 21 and he's been a fixture as well. Other than Ashley Young and prior to Pogba's injury, Pogba, De Gea and Maguire are the only players who could be called seniors in the starting X1. The playing squad has comfortably been the youngest in the league this season when his first choice players are healthy.Does Ole play the youth? Don't bother. People see what they want to see.We have one of the youngest average ages in the premiership?
I think there is a strange tension about EL group games. We think of United as being above such matches, cannot get excited about them at all and want to see plenty of kids getting chances. On the other hand we naturally feel the club should be winning them all handsomely; regardless of injuries, rotation and the fact teams such as Astana will likely be going hammer and tongs for the EL while we're looking to be professional/conserve energy etc.I find it funny how some say they are not interested in this game or our europa campaign but the moment we play bad for 20 mins this thursday they will come and criticise the team.
I hope we take this tournament seriously. This whole attitude of we are bigger than this competition is nonsense. I hope we win all the matches and win the tournament and also finish in top 4. Chelsea have shown (twice) it is possible. But honestly I cannot see us winning this. Maybe reaching till RO 16 or something like that and then bowing out to a reasonably decent side.I think there is a strange tension about EL group games. Whether it's EL or CL I always lower my expectations in terms of performance. Under Fergie we had some absolutely rotten group stage games so as long as the results are ok anything else, such as good individual or team displays, is a bonus.
I hope we win it too for sure, and though the teams who drop out of the CL could be tricky I don't see why we can't if we get momentum going.I hope we take this tournament seriously. We should play the young lads like Gomes, Jesse and Greenwood for this one.
Agree 100%. People who call for 4-5 academy players to start are living in a dream land. Astana are not going to be pushovers - they are probably comparable to a decent Championship team, full of tough, experienced eastern European internationals. I expect the starting lineup to include 4-5 first team players, 4-5 fringe players and 1-2 academy players like Greenwood, Tuanzebe or Chong, who already had a few sub appearances under their belt. If the game is done and dusted with 20 minutes to go, we might see couple more kids get some minutes, hopefully Gomes and Garner.I don't think Ole will play all the academy players together this soon and I hope he doesn't too. Just giving them 90 minutes in a team full of inexperience would just backfire and may even dent their confidence big time. Considering how thin our squad is the likes of Garner, Gomes, Greenwood and Chong will get more chances but to play all of them together this soon could just backfire big time. For continuity purpose I hope he starts Chong and Greenwood and have Gomes come off the bench.

Asking players to play 2 games per week is a mistake. Tired players often lose the 3rd game when they play 3 in 8 days. It's tough against West Ham away.Agree 100%.
