Just hope it's a good game in all honesty. I've lost a lot of love for the CL in recent years so I personally don't see it as the be all and end all but a great European night at Old Trafford is always special, so I just hope we put on a good show.

Personally think if we play to our best we'll win this first leg anyway.

I wouldn’t mind Smalling playing as Bailly is too rash for my liking considering the occasion.

With Cavani out, I think that we don't need Smalling for his aerial power. Probably Bailly would be best choice, considering that he is quite fast, which is always important when you have to deal with a rapid striker like Mbappe. On the other side, he kind of scares me with his rash tackles, and UCL referees are more red card happy than English ones.

If it was down to me id stick Bailly at RB with Smalling and Lindelof pairing at CB. He has previous experience playing there in La Liga against Madrid and handled Ronaldo quite well. But it doesn't even look like mbape will out wide anymore after Cavani got injured.

Are you forgetting the game against us when he could have had a hattrick?
    I think I must have ?
Read earlier today that Cavani is out for a month with his injury. If so, that is good news for United.
NOTE TO MODS : Not wishing injury on a player, just saying it is to United's adavantage that one of PSG's top players is missing.

Neymar, Cavani, Meunier out. Verratti and Paredes not really match fit. No excuses, if we don't go for broke and try to smash these we'll end up regretting it in the return leg.

Really looking forward to this game and no reason we cant feel optimistic of a positive result. Old trafford will be buzzing. A great start and we will better as the games goes on. Keep the same midfield, play lindelof and bailly at the back and rashford, lingard and martial up front. We need to keep pressing thier defence to induce mistakes. One thing that worries me is our distribution from the back. Against Leicester and Fulham we gave away the ball countless times by sloppy passes without pressure and cant afford to do that against teams we have coming up.

We could never have asked for a better time to play them.

    Have to take full advantage!

How are these key players injured for PSG? Their league is not competitive. their manager should have protected their players more as the champions league should be more important to them. Not that I care too much. I can’t remember the last time United as gone past the knockout stage and this will be a good opportunity.

Well this is it for Ole and the team. This is where all the progress is finally analysed on an international stage. We will finally discover if the team have actually progressed or if it is a false dawn.
Feck off with that bs:lol: We're fourth in the league and on an unbeaten run with 10 wins and 1 draw since Ole took over, that's progress even if we should lose against PSG.

PSG's possible lineups looking underwhelming for a team with their money, a far cry from previous seasons. Let's see if there's any Tuchel effect.

They are absolutely decimated by injury in fairness to them. Tuchel been talking about plan D as plan A,B n C are all out. It's that bad.

We won't get a better chance to progress than this. Need to go at them and give them a famous OT welcome. The crowd need to be on it. Can't wait. I love big CL nights.

Looking forward to going to this one now.

Could not be a more different feel to the last time I went, under Jose!

The league being not as competitive as other leagues doesn't mean it's not very physical. It's actually more physical IMHO than the Spanish and Italian ones, there are crazy players all over who commit ridiculous challenges on a regular basis.

I expect a huge pressure from our front three. With Cavani and Meunier out we have to win this one. We never look good when we go into the second leg away with a negative result.
Any win without conceding is fine as far as I'm concerned

Imo - the matches against PSG are the least important for the rest of the season. If we win - fine, if not - it doesn't matter to me as long as we get something from the Liverpool-game

People, just enjoy this game, whether we lose or we win, the important thing is that we go for it and not chicken out.

We have our chances and i, personally think that we will do it.

    Believe !

    Verratti is back.

They are missing Neymar only, maybe Cavani if it's not mind games.

That's not 'absolutely decimated', with the funds that they have and their spending these last years, injuries shouldn't be a problem for them.

Keep in mind that without Neymar and even without Cavani, their current attack (Draxler, Mbappe and Di maria) cost them over 280 M Euros .....

I don't know why, but this game reminds me of the AC Milan CL ties where we came back from behind and won 3-2 in the first leg, then lost 3-0 in the second leg after we had some injuries.

As long as we give them a proper fight I'll be satisfied. Got a feeling we'll do well.

I'd say smalling is definitely faster than baily.

Cavani started on the weekend with Mbappe being rested, Cavani pulled something when taking a pen apparently so got subbed off. Verratti got hurt a month or so ago, came back, got another slight niggle last week but is mostly fine to play. Neymar got hurt a few weeks ago in a cup game and turns out he fractured his metatarsal I think? Meunier isn't usually the main starting right back anyway but he got a small concussion so that's probably a week.

They're all kinda in the "shit happens" column.

Nice to be in a situation where the team practically picks itself

    DDG
    Young, Jones, Lindelof, Shaw
    Herrera, Matic, Pogba
    Lingard, Rashford, Martial

    Subs
Romero, Dalot, Bailley, Fred, Mctom, Sanchez, Lukaku

Only question marks for me are who partners Lindelof and whether Sanchez should start over Lingard

What's a good result in this one?

I'm gonna say it would be nice to have a two-goal cushion.

    2-0

On what planet would Sanchez start over Lingard? Was daft enough MOTD suggesting he could start over Martial. Sanchez hasn't done anything to suggest he should start any important game for us.

It still feels weird thinking of Lindelöf as the definite starter, rather than bottom of the list!

However, his partner is the only decision to make.

Can we settle on one thread for this game? There's two of them being bumped consistently. Seems overkill to have this thread and the other going on the front page.

Lingard has done well, but of the front 6, he is the player who had done the least to nail down his place and can be inconsistent. A returning Sanchez is his main competitor, but limited game time means I go for Lingard

Sanchez may or may not get near his Arsenal form, but he has been one of the best Prem attackers in recent years.

His form for us is the only thing that matters, which is why it's 100% Lingard. He's not a nailed on name on the team sheet like Pogba, Rashford and Martial but he's still a long way ahead of Sanchez.

I’m interested to see if we play Lingard in the false 9 position with Martial and Rashford as the wide forwards, similar to how we played against spurs or whether we go Martial-Rashford-Lingard

100% is a strong term, but as per my original post, I have Lingard ahead of Sanchez as it stands
