    Team should be...

    -------------------Heaton-------------------
    AWB---Lindelof---Maguire---Malacia
    -------McTominay---Fred-------
    Pellistri-----Fernandes-----Garnacho
    -----------------Weghorst-----------------

Subs: Butland, Williams, Martinez, Casemiro, Mainoo, Iqbal, Elanga, Antony, Rashford
Basically this team. If Donny wasn't so shit i'd chuck him in too, but don't want the boys playing a man down from kick off.

We desperately need another decent central midfielder, the drop in level when we play McFred is just so much.

    I would go with

    —————-Heaton
    AWB—Lindelof—Maguire—Malacia
    ——————McTominay
    ———-Bruno————Fred
    Antony—————————-Garnacho
    ——————Weghorst

We need to carry enough goal threat to hopefully get ahead in the first half so it doesn’t become too nervy. Hence starting Bruno and Antony and all being well take them off after an hour. I would keep starting Antony at the moment as he builds form until Sancho returns.

I have no idea who or where their threats will come from, but Ince will definitely have them up for this. Will probably need to start a few first-teamers to kill this off/avoid a dreaded replay.

    DDG

    Malacia
    Maguire
    Lindelof
    Shaw

    Casemiro
    Fred
    Bruno

    Antony
    Wout
    Garnacho

Bruno off after an hour in an ideal world, then bring in the likes of Pellistri, Elanga, Mainoo.

I'm hoping that there are a few first teamers starting this game, firstly to put the tie to bed and make sure we avoid a replay (or worse), and also because I'm going to the game too (not been able to get a ticket the last 2 years).

Solidify the central base of the midfield with experience and have Pellestri and Garnacho go at it on the wings.

I'd like the main focus of our next two games to be resting Christian Eriksen. I don't want to even see him in the stadium. Get that man a spa weekend followed by a midweek trip to see Avatar 2 on a vibrating recliner.

He's out for the season, not that it is going to really affect his contribution to the side! Poor Donald Van der Beek, never seen a player more in need of a fresh start.

And if Donny was the best player in the world you'd still be a man down given that he's injured

Impressed with ten Hags approach to the game last night. Kill the tie and then have two games to rest key players- Bruno, Eriksen and Rashford in particular. Those three should not start until the league game with Palace. I'd possibly start Casemiro in one as he was 'rested' for the Arsenal game.

Plus great chance to give Garnacho, Fred, McT Malacia, Lindelof etc some time in the team. Even get some experience to Mainoo, Pellestri, and build up Dalot and Sancho's fitness.

ETH needs to take this opportunity to rest players now though. If not, there won't be another chance (barring favourable FA cup draws). The Europa league ties, the league Cup final and the league games surrounding them will be painful.

It is an FA Cup game so EtH will take it seriously and will play some senior players but most should rest

    -------------
De Gea (EtH doesnt seem to think goalkeeper needs much rest but Heaton if he decides that yes)

    Malacia
    Lindelof
    Licha / Maguire second half
    AWB

    McT (but could play Casemiro)
    Fred

    Garnacho
    WW / Elanga second half
    Antony / Pellistri cameo

Rashford and Bruno on the bench if we need to save the day.

Looks like most people think ETH will go with Heaton over Butland. Why did we bring Butland in?

Garnacho Martial Pellistri up top. Fred, Scott and Mainoo in midfield while we completely rotate the defence and keeper.
    That’s more than enough

I really don't think we'll go full second string here. A good mix of first and second team for this one and rest even more players for the 2nd leg v Forest.

Reading aren't great but I wouldn't treat them like some League 2 team that we can just go full youth against.

i'm not overly concerned by the FA Cup and if we go out....with the semifinal of the Bull Cup only 3 days later which should be a formality before getting back to the important part which is the league.

Need to utilize the entire squad over these two cup matches almost to a point of having two completely separate teams. Playing every 3-4 days now is going to be an issue if we over work guys like rashford, casemiro, bruno, eriksen.

Maguire, Lindelof, Scott, Fred, Malacia....these guys need to play in both matches alongside young guys liek Mainoo, Zidane, Elanga, Garnacho, Pellestri and hopefully Sancho at some point.

We have more important matches with two league matches against Leeds to start February and then Barcelona in Europa.

Please rotate Erik, don't be a madman now.

    Heaton
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Malacia
    McTominay - Fred
    Antony - Pellistri - Garnacho
    Weghorst
Hopefully Sancho and Mainoo get some minutes too.

Hopefully see Pellestri get 90mins. Maguire has to play with Lindelof, Williams, AWB. Mct, A N other, Fred, Pellestri, Garnacho, Wout.
Bit light in centre mid aint we? Mainoo or Iqbal should start this game as the 3rd midfielder.

Starting McFred and Maguire all at once is just asking for a shock defeat. Absolutely no need.

Got the big margin vs Forest so we have a comfortable game on Wednesday, no need to go overboard and risk the FA cup. Give Casemiro/Varane a rest vs Reading and give Eriksen/Martinez a rest vs Forest.

Give Rashford a rest vs Reading, give Antony a rest vs Forest. etc

With the lead heading into Tuesday, think ETH will go quite strong on Saturday and then rest the more important players on Tuesday. That said agree with the calls for Eriksen to rested for both games.

Hopefully we get to see Sancho on the bench at the very least for this.

Has anybody mentioned Paul Ince yet, what type of reception will he get in Old Trafford. What tactics will he have other than shoot?

We should not go too easy on this game and underestimate Reading just because they are a Championship side. Start relatively strong and sub players that need to be rested. We can do the same against Nottingham.

Bissaka, Eriksen De Gea and Martinez can see this one out.

    ............................ Heaton

Lindelöf - Maguire - Varane (sub: Williams) - Malacia

........... Casemiro (sub: McT.) - Fred

.................. Fernandes (sub: Iqbal or Mainoo)

Pellistri - Weghorst (sub: Elanga) - Rashford (sub: Garnacho)

Any news on when Dalot is back? Would love him to get back soon as AWB has done a decent job, but Dalot is just much better in my opinion

I think it will be a bit of a mix, I wouldn't rest as many players as most say.

    Heaton
    AWB--Varane--Martinez--Shaw
    Casemiro--Fred
    Antony--Fernandes--Garnacho
    Weghorst

Subs: De Gea; Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia; McTominay, Eriksen; Pellistri, Martial, Rashford

If Sancho is fit enough for the bench then he replaces Martial or Pellistri. If Dalot is fit enough then he replaces Lindelof.
