I think we'll line up like this, but I'd much rather see Jones over Blind and Herrera over Young (with Memphis out wide).

Bench to probably include Jones, Valencia, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Pereira/Janzuaj, and Wilson.

For some reason I really fancy 3-0 to us, but wouldn't be surprised if we drop points either.

So our starting 11 on the opening game of last season vs Swansea

    De Gea
    Smalling Jones Blackett
    Lingard Fletcher Herrera Young
    Mata
    Chicharito Rooney

    vs (possibly)

    De Gea
    Darmian Jones Blind Shaw
    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Mata Memphis Young
    Rooney

I think this is how LVG will play it but Id rather see this formation with Smalling for Blind, or Blind for jones.

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Jones Shaw
    Schneiderlin
    Herrera Carrick
    Mata Rooney Memphis

Something like that, with a Bench of: Romero,Blind,Val,Januzaj,Periera,Wilson,Young

I'm confident for Saturday. Spurs are destined for a season of averageness (again), and have done nothing at all to improve last seasons squad. I reckon 3-0, although I seem to remember being very confident before last seasons opener...

So, Lloris has today managed to complete a solid (just over) half an hour vs Milan.

Just in time for him to have his annual blinder against us

Tottenham's pre season has been a complete shambles this year. Because of that I suspect their pressing game will be less intense giving you an edge on the ball. I went for 2-1 though as I suspect once you lead Van Gaal may stifle the game with possession and I also expect one mistake due to that tactic.

Lots of possession for United and goals coming either early or late when legs are groggy. People will probably still moan about the game if it panned out this way though as a customary 5-0 opening day thrashing is their minimum, despite the context.

    2-1 United.

Going for a home win but expecting Kane to score against us, still think we will struggle at the back though. 2 - 1 United.

I don't think it's true to say that Spurs have not improved their squad. Alderweireld is an upgrade on Kaboul or Chiriches (both of whom have been sold), Trippier is good competition for Walker and - if pre-season is anything to go by - may well displace him in the starting XI. And the highly-rated Dele Alli has joined us - along with a number of our other young prospects (e.g. Pritchard) - and been very impressive in pre-season so far.

    Btw, is 5th place average?

For us worse words would be used than average...

Alderweireld is a good signing, and ok by signing him I suppose you've technically improved the squad, but there hasn't been a top signing for you lot this summer that's drastically going to improve you from last season. I struggle to see where the creativity is going to come from, Erikssen aside , and the teams who finished around you last season have all signed some good players. I reckon it's another battle for a Europa spot and some average football this season.

    Good news.
Kind of. It'd be better if he was ousting Blind.

Rojo needs to get himself available. However, provided it's a temporary thing, I don't think Blind'll be a disaster. He'll struggle against the league's big men or anyone really fast, but is well equipped to deal with the elusive or tricky ones.

I feel like this will be a 1 nil game for us. Lloris will make a statement as he always does but we'll clinch it through the likes of Depay or Mata. Rooney will be the distraction for guys like Mata and Depay to thrive hence he won't get the goal he needs. Hopefully we'll play with lots of maturity throughout the game and we won't give away any silly mistakes.

    2-1 United.
I've gone with this same lineup except I've placed Schweinsteiger where Carrick is. Either way, It's a good enough squad for us. I didn't get to watch any pre-season games because there wasn't any coverage in my country and internet speeds are effin ridiculous so I really can't wait for this. When is the pre-match conference?

Probably around the same time as the unveiling of the shirt numbers; Friday the 7th at 2pm local Manc time, 3pm Malawi time.

Looking forward to it but dread the formation. If he played Herrera in a 3 we would wollop them but i'm going for a sloppy 3-0 to us with a boring performance in the system used pre season.

Don't worry lads, i have made Kane my fantasy league captain. He will have a terrible game :D

Strongest 11 available please LVG, want to see a midfield of Carrick, Herrera and Morgan not so sure it will happen!
