I'd like to see Mata start ahead of Lingard for this one as I feel his passing in the final third will be important in unlocking their defence. I think Fellaini instead of Matic could also be helpful in dealing with their direct long balls to Rondon. Lukaku in for Rashford if he's not fit to start.

    ---------------DDG----------------
    Young-VNL-Jones-Shaw
    --------------Fellaini------------
    ---Pogba-------------Ander---
    Mata---------------------Martial
    --------------Lukaku-------------

One last push, then we can rest players vs Reading.
I'm expecting this to be a but more difficult so I'm going with a 2-1 win. Lukaku and Martial to score.

With everyone back to fitness we should have at least two/three of the following on the bench: Lukaku, Lingard, Mata, Rashford, Martial, Sanchez.

    Attacking firepower.

We concede from set pieces and we are reckless at the back, quite often playing suicidal football. Newcastle will look to exploit that. We should be improving in that area as best we can with the players we have, but for now let's let it be what it is and hit them immediately with our lethal, fast football.

    3-1 to us .

Hope Fellaini starts to deal with their aerial bombing . I have no confidence in our defence to deal with Rondon.

I always find it weird when at Christmas you play teams you could swear you just played. We only played Bournemouth the first time last month, now we’ve got Newcastle again?

On paper, it should be a comfortable win. This would have been a super tough game under Jose but I have more faith in our team now.

After the success of the team's offensive tactics I guess that Ole would like us not to let in any goals in this match. He certainly wants to silence that criticism too, and has repeatedly pointed out that it is in the fixed situations that the competitors make goals.

The only one I can imagine makes a big difference in that case is Fellaini so I won't be surprised if he shows up from the start.

If I heard correctly, Ole also suggested that Lukaku needs a few more days to get in full shape so I'd rather not have him start the match. If Rash has a injury I hope for Lingard or Mata from the start and that Lukaku may come in after 60 minutes.

Think we go full strength for this one and then rest players for Reading.

Newcastle aren't a big step up from our other recent opponents, but it will be interesting to see how Ole approaches an away game. 1-3 to us.

I'd rather Lukaku start than have Mata and Lingard on the flanks. The front three was so narrow against Huddersfield.

I bet Sanchez cannot wait to get fit now! Bet he can smell the goals.

Very much worried about the long balls from deep to Rondon. We are quite bad in defending it and Lindeloff will be targeted for sure .

That prick Benitez threw the game v the Scousers last week with his team selection and tactics but he’ll have them primed for us on Wednesday no doubt, the absolute weapon.

Expect to see a similar XI with maybe 1 or 2 changes. Tough away match and we have Reading up next where we can really rotate the squad.

This is probably the game to rotate as we'll need a physical lineup to deal with them.

Potentially could leave Rashford, Lingard on the bench if pace is required for the win in the second half.

    I'd go with...
    DDG
    Val/Dal Lindelof Jones Shaw
    Fellaini Matic Pogba
    Mata Lukaku Martial
    Subs
    Romero
    Young
    Herrera
    Fred
    Lingard
    Rashford

So Reading at home on Saturday, so this is clearly the more important one though I'd suspect a healthy rotation and strong sides in both.
    De Gea
    Young Jones Lindelof Shaw
    Matic
    Herrera Pogba
    Lingard Lukaku Martial

Assuming Rashford might be injured. Sanchez/Mata/Rashford to start on the weekend.

Have a feeling our players will be up for this. Newcastle was the game where Pogba and Jose first had their major spat and was the turning point of our season last year. I think we will want to smash them.

Need to get revenge for them beating us last season.

Hopefully we can keep our first clean sheet under Ole.
