Alexis is the one I’m most looking forward to watching. I really hope that he will flourish under this new system which seems to me will really suit him.

If he does do the business and replicates that Arsenal form he showed, he will be like a new signing and it’s going to be even more enjoyable and exciting watching us.

Sanchez's issue is that he needs people around him, who:
1, press (Sanchez presses, but if nobody else helps him, there is not point in pressing)
2, is prepared to receive and make quick passes, to/from him

Under Jose, we saw that both of the above were not occurring.
Under Solkjaer (in the 3 games in charge), we have seen both of the above.

Sanchez does not have any excuses for not performing, under Solkjaer, so I really do hope that he delivers the goods and orchestrates our attacks, while guiding the youngsters around him, because as yet, we have not seen any of this at MUFC.

Alexis is the one I’m most looking forward to watching.
    Same here.

Play our best eleven, rest players for the cup.

    Dave
    Young Jones Victor Shaw
    Herrera Matic Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial

Would be nice to see Sanchez start if he is in the right condition.

Unless I’ve got it wrong but I’m sure Ole said in his press conference that Darmian and Lindelof are the only two defenders that can play at centre available for this game? Darmian at CB :nervous:

Didn’t know Phil Jones has picked up another mysterious injury?

Quite sure he said Darmian would be the back-up option.

The person asking the question specifically asked that OGS only has 2 fit CB's and if that is an issue, would they need to call-up Roshaun-Williams or someone, OGS said Darmian would be the backup CB.

I don't know why most of the people want rotation to happen for the cup game when realistically it is the only chance for Ole to win silverware. I think there might be rest in this game as well as Reading game.

I wonder if Rashford will get rested for this? We need him fit for the Spurs game. Fatigue-related injuries are common in this part of the season.

Because it's a side that is bottom of the Championship, and a good time to give young players some minutes. We should be good enough to win still.

If Alexis is fit I want to see him starting instead of lingard. Possibly even put Marcus on the wing and play Alexis as a 9. I don't think he has the pace in him anymore to keep running up and down the wings. We should try him more centrally.

Really should recall Axel if we can
He's injured at the moment and out for most of Jan, but I agree with your sentiments if we offload some of our 5 senior Centre Backs

Regarding, Ole's comments on Darmian, I'd be disapointted to see him in the squad I'd hoped he's be a player moved on this window (limited contribution here, still some resale value and apparent Italian interest) and therefore would rather give matchday squad places to youngsters, particularly against Newcastle where we are unlikely to see much attacking threat

Hoping that Perreira starts tomorrow and we give game time to an emerging academy player

no no the last thing we need is for Marcus to move away from the centre and shoehorned on the wing. If he's not ready to start this game put Alexis in the false 9 but if he is available then Alexis must go to the right but almost as second striker with freedom to get inside just like Lingard was doing before with added goal threat and more creativity.

    Across the Universe....from Old Trafford.
Whoever we play, we need to play as we now do. Let them worry about us.
Our midfield of Pogba/Matic/Herrera can control any match.

Martial/Rashford/Lingard . They cannot handle them.

    Young and Shaw providing support.

Linedloff and Jones need to be alert.

I can see Fellani and Sanchez coming in at some point.

How’s he been doing at Villa?
He has been doing really well. Unfortunately though he recently suffered a foot injury and have missed the last 4 games. Prior to that he had started the last 13 games playing till the final minute in everyone of those games as CB. We can only hope he will regain his spot and form when coming back but recalling him would be an incredibly daft decision considering the amount of valuable experience the lad is getting over there. However I do wonder how Axel will respond to a setback like this. He was in great form and was starting week in and week out. It is now up to him to show he is mentally strong enough to come back and regain his spot.

I agree with this. Bottom line is I want to see him play in a more central role. And to be quite frank I would start even a half fit Alexis ahead of Lingard any day.

That's some serious Lingard hating going on there if you'd prefer a guy who was garbage 90% of the time when he was fully fit, half fit
Unreal how much hate Lingard gets on here.

I'd personally rest Rashford for this one regardless of if he is fit or not. A tweak a couple of days ago could easily become a year when playing so soon afterwards.

Think we may need to throw Lukaku back in unless Sanchez is 100%, as a front 3 of Lingard, Martial and Mata doesn't have enough goals in it.

    My XI would be...

    Martial Lukaku Lingard
    Pogba Periera
    Fellaini
    Shaw Jones Lindelof Young
    DDG

Expect to see Matic, Herrera and Rashford for the 3 changes I made though

He is Wolverhampton or Leicester quality at best. Will go down for me as one of the most useless players in our history to ever get that much play time along with Young, Jones and Fellaini.

I think that team selection up front for today is pretty tricky. Rashford has run himself ragged in the past 3 games and picked up some sort of knock and apparently faces a fitness test.

If Sanchez can be brought back to anything like his best then getting him integrated into this team as soon as possible would provide a huge boost to us for the rest of the season. On the other hand, if we get 'Jose Sanchez' who gives the ball away every 5 minutes with useless passes then we risk setting the team back.

On balance, I think I would go with Sanchez/Martial/Lingard as Ole says that Sanchez has been knocking them in in training and is looking very good.

Give Rashford a week off and get him totally refreshed for the Tottenham game.

I think that introducing Lukaku into the current team is also risky as our play under Ole is very dependent on fast precise play with players interchanging positions. I am sure that Lukaku is capable of that but he has spent so long standing around like a tree, I think he needs a few sub appearances (and the game against Reading) to get back into it.

Id say just use Sanchez up front. More mobile like Rashford and if he loses the ball then its more okay in a position like that. Mourinho completely misused Sanchez I think. He was never in dangerous positions.

I have a feeling Fellaini will start this - as a way for Ole to make it up to him that he never got to come on against Bournemouth due to the red card.

I’m not sure that’s how Ole’s mind is working.

I hope not. He should pick his strongest team albeit compensated for fatigue. Fellaini does not meet that. At best a sub.
