There is no doubt that he is being negotiated. Despite the fact that Benfica's coach said that it had nothing to do with a possible exit, I am sure he would have played last night if he wasn't being negotiated. This doesn't mean the deal will go through.
I would say that the risk here is bigger.
Yes he is proving to be quality RB specially in attack. He can go forward very well and participate in attack. He is very good at showing up at the end of the plays and the fact that he can score is really good.
The thing is, he still needs to...
He is worth what the clubs are willing to pay for him. If Benfica thinks that Man Utd is willing to pay more than 30M€ for him, why shouldn't the player accept to set a higher release clause? It's up to Man Utd to decide if the player is worth it or not. No guns are being pointed. The player is...
Yes but we're in January and unless this has been anticipated a long time ago by Benfica, there is not enough time to sign a quality replacement for Semedo. Benfica is fighting to win the title and is still playing in the Champions League so the bar is set way high.
Solid CB that will naturally improve and become one of the best IMO. From what I have seen, he is the kind of player that has a very low probability rate of failing to become a top class CB.
Because he is grateful to the club that launched his career, something that seems to be rare these days. He is not backstabbing any club with this. If the club wants him, than it should pay his price, regardless of the release fee.
Benfica fan here. Although the Lindelof deal is being reported as practically done here in Portugal, it would come as a big surprise if Semedo also left the club in Jan. The fans would be devastated because of a relevant lack of options for RB.
He may not play as well as he once did but can you accuse him of lacking commitment in the pitch? Besides, he always seems to be very happy at United in his social media appearances. Seems to like the club and the fans and contributes positively to the club's image.
