  1. How talented was Theo Walcott?

He vastly outperformed what his talent level should have allowed him, someone like Aaron Lennon is far more talented yet has much less goals in his record.
  2. Would you give the job to Allegri right now?

Mourinho is a "top manager who won loads" too....... the problem with Allegri is that he's basically a better version of Unai Emery. He knows his tactics very well but he needs a strong squad to work with. Give him a broken unbalance squad and he's clueless as to how to get the best out of it...
  3. Man Utd set to appoint Director of Football (when hell freezes over)

DoFs are not managers, they are supposed to be with their team on the long haul rather than someone who jumps ship the moment a big ship calls for them. No DoF worthy of respect will step down from his job mid season willingly. Any DoF appointment was always going to be an off season appointment...
  4. Gonzalo Higuain | Chelsea Player

He was already on a decline when he signed for Juve, why did you think past it and technically meh Mandzukic was able to push him out of the squad? His league goals per season went from 36 in Napoli to 24 in his first Juve season (still good but disappointing for what Juve paid for him), then to 16.
  5. Man Utd set to appoint Director of Football (when hell freezes over)

He has excelled in getting good commercial deals for the club by loading the club up with overpaid and overrated prima donnas. A good DoF will take the club in a different direction, one which goes against the direction Woodward is taking the club to.
  6. Man Utd set to appoint Director of Football (when hell freezes over)

And Woodward should not be the guy setting the budget. The board should be the one doing that, and a DoF should talk to the board, tell them how much money he wants, why he needs that much money, and the board should either give him the money or not. If a DoF needs to ask Woodward for permission...
  7. Man Utd set to appoint Director of Football (when hell freezes over)

Woodward should not be the superior of any DoF. He is a banker, not a football man, and he should have little influence in the footballing side of the club. If the Glazers don't set out to protect the DoF from Woodward's meddling then any DoF is doomed to fail. Woodward knows nothing about...
  8. So, to what percentage do you think Fergie had an influence on the Ole and Mike Phelan appointment?

Not many people dislike OGS the supersub legend. Who is a very different man from OGS the manager whose only spell outside of football wasteland was a flop skint at Cardiff. If the team suffers under OGS then that will only harm his legacy and make fans remember him as nothing but a flop caretaker.
  9. So, to what percentage do you think Fergie had an influence on the Ole and Mike Phelan appointment?

What the freak is the point of "appeasing the fans"? Fans will have their arms up and demanding Woodward's head if the team performs even worse under the caketaker.
  10. In hindsight, why do you think Mourinho failed?

Because he's a 3 season manager, always had been and always fails in his 3rd season. I have little doubt that had he stayed 1 more season in Porto and Inter he would have failed in those clubs too. His methods are designed to squueze the max potential out of the squad, but in an manner that is...
  11. Henry Winter's rant on United as a club

Monchi - Former Sevilla player Michael Zorc - Former Dortmund captain Giuseppe Marotta - Manager at age of 22 Ralf Rangnick - former bit time player Michael Emenalo - former bit time player Pretty much most of the notable DoF have football background. Only former banker I can think of is Andrea...
  12. Man Utd set to appoint Director of Football (when hell freezes over)

Because Woodward has already become the de facto DoF of the club. He is the most powerful person in the club, and any step towards reducing his power and responsibilities is a step towards kicking him out of the club. A competent DoF who knows how a football club should be buying his players...
  13. L'Equipe : Zidane wants United job / all spaculation no updates

His football is more appeasing than Zidane's, Zidane would literally be the second coming of Moyes.
  14. Alexis Sánchez | 2018/19 Performances

Sanchez played as striker for a while early in that season, but otherwise he played mostly as a winger. Wenger tried him as a striker and came to the conclusion he's not suitable for that role.
  15. What does Mourinho need to do to deserve another season?

Honestly, nothing. I have seen enough of Mourinho to know that he can win the league next season but then the season after that will be a disaster as he gets into fights with his own players. Is he a manager who can leave a lasting legacy in the club? I don't think so.
