Sakura Ando <3

I reckon Kore-eda took a lot of inspiration (especially for Ando's character) from the film 0.5 mm which I liked more than Shoplifters. Written and directed by Ando's sister as well!
Ah, I haven't seen that one, I will definitely check it out.

Marathon Man - I would have much prefered it if the movie had been all about Roy Scheider as a gay government agent running from assassins in Paris. Once it moved back to New York and the abysmal Dustin Hoffman it became a much less interesting film. Schlesinger's taut directing and Laurence Olivier ended up rather wasted.

The first hour or so was very good, up until they got the money and then it all got a bit pants. I dunno what the point of it all was in the end and it kind of just stopped making sense. Ben Affleck is quite punchable. Oscar Isaac is great when he's not in Star Wars. Charlie Hunam has a lovely beard.

I've not watched this since the 80's. Not nearly as good as Arnie's best films, but quite watchable. It's in the middle ground of Arnie films with Last Action Hero and Kindergarten Cop. It was also strangely prophetic in it's vision of the future.

The main theme on the soundtrack sounds a lot like a synth version of the Crocodile Dundee main theme, which was very distracting.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - you make a movie about late 60s Hollywood and the Manson families, you had me at "Once". And despite the obvious pandering to me, I think this really may be Tarantino's best. Everyone always creams themselves at his dialogue but it's often stagey and mealy-mouthed. Not here. The long, drawn out scenes have a heart and naturalness missing from a lot of his previous work, especially the dogshit Hateful Eight. Brad Pitt has aged into the greatest movie star on the plant. And you know, feck the Manson's and anyone offended by their portrayals in this, you weirdos. If you've read Helter Skelter or Easy Riders, Raging Bulls (or books of their ilk) it will really fatten this one.

Angel Has Fallen (2019)

Sticks to the winning formula of the previous two films in the series. Some really OTT moments, including 'at the cabin' (don't want to say more than that because spoiler) but then again what film of this type doesn't?

The plot isn't anything we haven't seen before but if action movies are you favourite genre (as they are mine) you will enjoy it.

Will give this a solid 8/10 and recommendation for action fans.

I'm halfway through The Predator but don't think I can finish it. Thomas Jane's terrible twitchy thing act is really grating and the rest of them just don't make sense.

Has anyone seen Midsommar yet? And if so, do you recommend it?

I loved Hereditary so I'm really keen to see this.

I enjoyed it a fair bit. It is a bit slow at times and not particularly scary but unsettling all the same and has some very memorable scenes.

Buzzsaw: "This chainsaw is a part of me, and now it's going to be a part of you..."
Arnie: "No. Keep it." (Proceeds to cut Buzzsaw in half from the groin up)

(Later) Female character: ".... What happened to Buzzsaw?"
Arnie: "He had to split."

*****
Arnie: "Killian, here's your Subzero, now plain zero."

Don't you dare tell me this isn't Arnie's GOAT work.

It was painful. I went to see it in the cinema. I felt robbed.

I wish they did the ending in the book instead(Arnie flying a helicopter into basically fox news would have been something.)

But still it's a great Arnie film.

They are the hackneyed ramblings of a street performer compared to:

"Stick around."

or

"Let off some steam, Bennett."

For a man speaking his second language he was the master of the one liner.

Did you finish it? It's genuinely one of the worst films I've ever sat through in the cinema and I saw Batman and Robin in the cinema.

Yeah I did. I'm still not sure what exactly happened.

I watched the latest Halloween afterwards. It started out well and there were some nice kills but then JLC and her shit plan ruined it. It wasn't terrible though but time to stop now, I reckon. Same with Predator movies.

And there's 2 more of those Halloween movies with JLC to come.

I really liked Halloween, but thought they should have stopped after that one.

There's talk of Disney rebooting Predator and Alien. I don't know what fresh hell they will bring to those franchises, surely enough damage has been done.

It's astonishingly bad. So bad in fact, I think it might be satire on crap Hollywood remakes.

Fighting with my Family - 6.5/7 - 10

Solid feel good type of movie about the career of WWE women's wrestler Pagie. Very good cast, with Nick Frost as her dad (Ricky Knight) and Lena Headey her mother (Saraya Knight), Vince Vaughan as the WWE trainer and cameos from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Stephen Merchant.

Some funny moments and your standard Rocky type montage when she over comes the adversity of course.

If your looking for a no brainer movie to veg out to, this would be ideal.

Monster Squad
A group of young friend attempt to save their neighborhood from Count Dracula and his squad of monsters. This was ok but not great and was missing the charm most of these 80s gone have. Was surprised considering it was written by Shane Black 4/10

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald

Looked very impressive. The visuals and especially the beasts were great but really felt like the middle film in a trilogy nobody gives a feck about 4/10

One Hour Photo

A disillusioned photography worker gets obsessed with a normal family, putting their lives in danger. Really well acted, never seen Robin Williams in a role like this before. Just hope the film went even darker towards the end. Was slightly flat after a great start 6/10

Stockholm

During hostage negotiations, the captives of a bank heist find themselves agreeing with the bank robber. Based on the true story that created the term 'Stockholm Syndrome'. Decent movie but felt like a worse version of Dog Day Afternoon. Ethan Hawke was brilliant in it though 6/10

Steel Country

After a boy is found dead in a lake, the town sheriff puts it down to drowning but a truck driver with Asperger's Syndrome sets out to investigate on his own, discovering some dark truths and putting his own life into danger. Really enjoyed this. Good mystery and such a great performance by this actor I've never heard of 8/10

I haven't seen Monster Squad since I was a kid, I still remember watching it in my mates house and discovering wolfmen don't have gonads. The things you learn from films.

This is my fave kids horror film from the 80s. The special effect with the demons is still great.

Need advice on what movie to see. I like good drama/psychological thrillers. I've seen the most obvious choices already.

A girl and boy switch bodies randomly every few days. They go to search for each other. Stunning visuals, nice soundtrack and a unique story. A few plot holes aside, this was fantastic 8/10

Eerie

After a girl commits suicide at a nunnary, strange things start happening. Whilst the overall story was ok, it was massively undermines by cheap jump scares that you've seen a million times, so instead of being scary, it just becomes laughably stupid 4/10
