Going to pretend I didn't read the name David Moyes, then.
Weird reaction when he is clearly the best name in that list. You already have a decent hard working midfield, and he's shown what he can do if you get him the right attacking players. The only thing is that he may not want to make the step down now.

Wow this has all moved very fast, would have thought Everton would have been reluctant to let Ancelotti leave and while I can understand them not wanting to stand in his way I thought they'd give up a bit more of a fight to keep him

Strange appointment by Real though, I think he's well past his best

Ancelotti was always going to be a stop gap but I doubt anyone thought it would have been this short. I’d have said we would have kept him another 2 seasons max so maybe they think it’s wise to get a new man in early and give him the full summer and a long term plan.

Everton should go all out for Conte. Long shot but they have money and should shoot for the stars here.

They have the center forward in place and some good players to supply. Top 4 is achievable if they can be bold.

Wonder what those players who came to Everton just because of Ancelotti will be thinking right now? Can't imagine James wanting to stay too much longer himself now

James only signed a 2+1 deal so I reckon that was part of why it was so short.

It’s not as if Real want him back!

expect the length of the deal is more due to the risk of taking on such a player. You wouldn’t want to tie down James on a long term deal. Smart from the club.

I think it’s both. Works for us because if he’s injured it’s short and works for him in case Ancelotti fecks off.

I'm very surprised that Ancellotti is getting another chance like this to be honest. Not that he spectacularly failed anywhere or anything like that, but I'm his last couple of jobs were a little underwhelming so it felt like his day had gone a little bit. Obviously he is well thought of there, so that's a factor.

Howe represents the type of football Everton want to play however if the last 30 years have shown anything though it's that Nuno probably fits Everton best out of them (i think for all parties it's best Moyes doesn't return)

Seems a significant loss for Everton.

Having Ancelotti as the manager was obviously a big pull for them when recruiting

Madrid should have a decent chance if they want Ronaldo back now. He loved Ancelotti

No way Conte accepts, for all the hate he gets he's got an impressive record. 4 Seria A titles and 1 premier league surely gets you way more than Everton, specially since he just won it with a different team than Juve.

I didn't reply to this because we will just get in a circular debate.
But I recall one of your premise for calling Carlo "washed up" is that no top club will consider him now. I find that highly presumptuous and pretty false, worth highlighting the below:
It also kills your point that he took Everton because he wanted a challenge as he won everything, but once Madrid wanted him he moved on from such "challenge" immediately.

So fair game for both of us I guess.

Let's see what he will do there. I predict him getting sacked after a year.

I think Howe is an incredibly underrated manager on here. He should have been Spurs go too after Poch and I think if he goes to Everton he will do very well while playing some nice football too. He’s far better than the other candidates.

Would be funny seeing Gerrard manager his boyhood club but we all know it won't happen.
Carragher was the Everton fan, yes there's a pic of Gerrard in an Everton kit but that's because he won some weird football competition as a kid.

Ah right, that picture of him in an Everton kit fooled me.

Yep, that is a huge reason. I don't think he would have been considered if not for his history there (74.79% win rate - second best in Real Madrid's history from permanent managers apart from Pellegrini, won a number of trophies though not the league, and was popular with both the fans and the players)

I don't get this one tbh.
Carlo is getting on, this is probably his last chance to manage a huge club. He knows he’ll probably be sacked at some point, but he gets to go live on Madrid and possibly work with some great players (a lot of whom are past it). He goes to Real for one more year and then goes off to a smaller Italian side (or maybe national team) for the twilight of his career.

Hard to believe we’d just lost to Fulham at home and they’d just beaten us at anfield too. Think they had two games on us in hand and were 3 points ahead. This is some collapse on and off the field. Ancelotti has well and truly screwed them here. James will be booking a one way flight to Colombia.

I don't get people blaming the club for this. I mean, if he wants to go what are you supposed to do?

I meant for Real Madrid.

I don't think it was a difficult decision for Carlo at all.
