Joke I know but not a chance he gets a new deal if the things being reported about how INEOS/Ratcliffe want to do things pan out
Logically not.

And hopefully United will be better run now

But I’ll still be worried if he does come back into a struggling side and scores a couple of goals before the end of the season

Even a 1 year extension on a pay as you play would be disastrous for me. I want him gone forever from the club

Yeah people lack standard human empathy when something happens to somebody if they happen to be wealthy or famous
Our fanbase has had several episodes of believing players faking their injuries/sickness  Even now, it's so easy to read between the lines.
Imagine going through an empteenth rehab process.
The club should have taken the appropriate steps to get rid of him a long time ago tbh.

I mean it sucks, but it’s not like your average Joe where getting sick or injured to the point where you can’t work, can leave you destitute and unable to make ends meet. A lot of jobs don’t offer sick pay, and those that do will have a limit on it. But Martial has been picking up £250k a week to play half an hour of football every 2-3 months. It’s a shame for him but my empathy here doesn’t go far at all.

Sure, but you don't need much empathy to just say "we should've gotten rid long ago" and to just call him too injury prone rather than attack a players character, professionalism or whatever. A player being injury prone means nothing for their character. It's just their body can't keep up with what they try to do. The same happened to Pogba. There's nothing to suggest he doesn't treat himself well off the pitch. So criticism should be kept to just his use as a footballer (which isn't much, because of injuries).

As in the Phil Jones threads though, you'll see people calling him a waster, saying he has no interest in football and is money motivated, saying he's mooching off the club (remember, the club gave him the contract, he didn't hold us hostage...), and so on.

The way I look at his and Pogbas situations is that it's a bit shit and sad for them, that their bodies can't keep up with professional football, and Pogba especially resorted to trying experimental shit to help get over the injury issues and it's likely killed his career now.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Especially when Ole insisted on playing him through injury as well.
Yep, and it's only been since that point that his body fell apart. Maybe that would have happened anyway and it's completely unrelated, but the question has to be asked. Continuing to play him for months while he could barely ran was always running the risk of causing issues in the future.

Same thing happened with Pogba as well IIRC.

Convenient he won't be fit throughout the transfer window...
He was never going to leave during this transfer window. We can't make him and he knows he will be lucky to get 50% of his current salary at his next club. If anything, it is actually beneficial for him to play so he can attract more interest in the summer.

And Rashford with that back injury.

Christ we would be so much better just cutting loose with this joker a long time ago. he was unlikely to ever to get back into the team anyway, but this pretty much guarantees Utd paying him a crazy wage for doing sweet f.a for the rest of the season until he walks away.

well that should do it for him. Was hoping he could at least hold up for the last couple months of his united career and offer something. At this point club needs to bring someone in for striker on loan. Could easily see us just trying to make due with hojlund alone since not a huge amount of games we are playing and we arent exactly rolling around in money.

Only a few years on, players like DDG, Bailly, Pogba, Lingard and Martial who Ole and JM had to rely on can’t even get a club or stay fit. Can’t see anyone taking Martial with his attitude and Fitness problems. We must do better at recruitment and selling duds and bad apples sooner

Exactly this has to stop from here on in. I also believe Shaw is on the fence of not staying fit and could easily fall one way or other. At his age I would sell as soon as fit and showing form maybe after euros.

I have said before I believe Martial, Lindelof, Shaw, Rashford, Mctominay, and perhaps Dalot are all players who have consistently failed in terms of effort, ability, fitness, injuries and consistency under every manager permanent or not since JM. They just haven't shown enough on a consistent basis to justify being at the club and are part of the long term rot. Shaw has a good season every 3 years but name a starting left back in the last 40 years you would take him over? Peak Ashley Young would comfortably keep Rashford on the bench and he wasnt even amongst the best in the world at left wing at the time. Nani couldnt even get on the pitch for us at one stage.

Didnt like Mourinho but he called Shaw, Pogba and Martial 6 years ago and its taken us forever to get rid of 2 of them

Should be the nail in the coffin for Martial, but the optional 12-month extension or agreeing a longer contract on lower terms is still a terrifying possibility.

Under no circumstances should we be keeping this crock at the club beyond this season.

Has this guy ever earned a weakly check? Would be interested to know how many games he's been injured out of the total number of games played since his arrival.

Another waster I never want to see kick a ball for us again.

Looks like he probably won't.

Martial ruled out for ten weeks after groin surgery. That's £2m to £2.5m for doing nothing. He won't be back before his contract expires in the summer. Season over.

Who makes these decisions at the club?! Complete fools for sanctioning his operation. Should have let him sweat until the summer and sent him limping off unto the sunset like the charlatan he is.
10 weeks of recovery at the expense of Utd too on top of the wage he's been stealing for years now. Good riddance

Shameful. Stays at the club, gets paid about 2 million (at least) gets surgery and rehabs on the clubs time and then leaves on a free in the summer.

Jose knew years ago. It took Sevilla about 2 weeks to realise he’s shite. Meanwhile we give him a new contract and we wonder why we’re in this position.

Something fishy about the whole situation. He was ‘sick’ for a month and now needs surgery? More like he was told he’s not getting a contract and he’s available for transfer in January so he’s spit his dummy out.

Absolute waster I’ll never understand the following he’s had over the years. Fecking crap.
