I'm taking a patient approach to the behind the scenes stuff. Many thought we'd cracked it when we promoted Murtough and Fletcher to the DoF and Technical Director roles, having been desperate for us to get a DoF. Ask I'm saying is Barrada or our next DoF might not work out, it's not guaranteed success. But the key thing for me will be INEOS's ability to recognise this and make changes.

I don't expect them to nail it first time, in fact I'd say it's unlikely they do. But as long as they're moving things in the right direction then that's the best we can hope for.

  • I've seen Brailsford in attendance at as many games since the deal was announced as I've seen the Glazers at ever.
  • They've met and actually engaged with staff on the ground.
  • They've hired a CEO based on his previous experience at actual football clubs and in the game, rather than jobs for the banker boys hires from within.
  • They appear to be conducting a modern, professional and purposeful recruitment process for a DoF rather than hiring a DoF, asking him to be a manager and then firing him for being crap at it, then hiring a manager and expecting him to act like a DoF.
  • They've engaged with the city for preliminary talks about what to do with the stadium that's been neglected for 2 decades.

Considering it's been barely a month since they were announced and they're not officially even on the job yet, I reckon that's enough to give them some credit.

5% season ticket price increase for next season.

Don't think that's a particularly good luck for the club in a constant cost of living crisis.

Glazers were purely hands off, they didn't give a shit if the money kept coming in, they don't put any money into United. Ineos have skin in the game and immediately you see the difference, they might not be very good but they are gong to actually try and actually care because they need to make their investment worthwhile.

In fairness it's still below inflation though. Not that it makes it feel any better for the fans but that's what everyone presumably wanted from a hard nosed businessman rather than an empty Glazer PR move to paper over the fact they don't know what they're doing.

Ideally the revenue would come from sponsorships and TV but the stadium is still a massive source of income for the club so if they've a waiting list for season tickets they're not going to just freeze prices every year.

This was the the only thing the absentee glazers could say about their relationship with the fans, they kept the ticket price relatively steady. We could be selling out 110-150,000 tickets a week easily if we had the facilities.

You'd assume that the Glazers were presumably all over the initial idea rather than Ratcliffe. It would be interesting to hear if he had a say on it though.

My issue is the increase won't even bring that much money in (certainly in the grand scheme of things anyway). When you take into account that we will probably spend about 200 million this summer, it's a drop in the ocean.

For fans though, its a big increase and a slap in the face for those who go week in week out.

Is it a slap in the face though? It's a below inflation increase. Sure it's not generous, but it's hardly appalling.

It's only been (marginally below) 5% since October and the season started in August at which point the rate was 6.8%. It doesn't seem crazy to me as long as it trends down as inflation does.

Great news on the exec seats. i wish they would look at relocation of the disabled section behind East Stand goal, its killed the atmosphere there

I feel like it should be to the side. As you've said it kind of prevents any instant behind the goal fan interaction/atmosphere and surely it puts them more at risk of getting hit by shots?

I’ve not got time to listen to it as only just finished work and got to take the missus out for our anniversary but did Ornstein say Mitchell isn’t going to be Director Of Football or did he say not involved at all ? If it’s not as Director Of Football that’s a good thing as he’s far better as Head Of Recruitment and if involved with us that should be his role.

i cant think of many other clubs who have taken such measures, its a massive own goal (pardon the pun)

Just not as Director of Football. Said he's (Mitchell) never seen himself in that role and that himself and INEOS are on the same page in that regard. Discussion only focused on the DOF position.

Cheers mate, good to see that we’re obviously looking at people who are are actual DOF’s and great at the job rather than bringing someone in to try doing the role without any experience or success at it.

I am far from an expert on this matter and I don't mind being educated on it but I think that they should make a two tier season ticket system. One allows others to use the ticket thus being more expensive and one that does not. I have mates in malta whose making an absolute killing out of their season tickets. A bigger chunk of that revenue should go to the club rather then their own pockets. Meanwhile cheaper tickets for match goers will improve the atmosphere at OT.
