think it's the fourth time he's beaten Labour after leaving them to a seat. Pretty impressive, regardless of your views. Farage, meanwhile, struggles to explain why he cannot win a seat at all.
Labour disowned their candidate so they didn’t have a candidate in the race officially. That mess didn’t help them. Galloway is always there for a protest vote yet then loses it in the next main election.

Doeant change the fact Galloway is a nasty cnut and he was even supported by Nick Griffin, former leader of the BNP in this election. The man doesn’t give a toss about anyone but himself.

If Labour stuck with Azhar Ali then they probably would have won. Might have been close run at least.

The results more embarrassing for the Tories and Reform. Combined they'd still have only made 3rd place behind someone random local business owner who only threw his hat it a few weeks ago!

Tice seems very bitter. This was the sort of election that made UKIP relevant pre-brexit when they targeted working class towns with the promise of milk and honey. Post brexit that sales pitch has gone.

So not unentirely like the rest of them.

Obviously a massive cnut, but given Starmer has his entire party gagged, it might not be a bad thing to have another vocal descenting voice in parliament. I just hope the people of Rochdale get their promised Primark.

George Galloway:

“Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak are two cheeks of the same backside and they both got well and truly spanked tonight here in Rochdale."

Might be a short stay in parliament for George - imagine he’ll do his best to get his voice heard over the coming months.

No, be antisemitic, get kicked out of the Labour party.
Surely you must know by now that this anti Semitism line has been overplayed. And actually puts Jewish safety at risk.

I wouldn't be surprised if Galloway got some, or more, Jewish votes too. Corbyn is the other victim of Western lies (as already exposed by Al Jazeera investigation).

Galloway is one of the nastiest piece of shite around. He doesn’t give a toss about anyone apart from himself. The fact the ex BNP leader was backing him in this election says it all. People never learn when it comes to him.

He is but Labour need to acknowledge they have become hugely unpopular under certain demographics. Instead of sweeping it under the rug they need to look at it seriously - that's if they even care as they will most likely win the election even without these votes.

Quite a few of the BNP type characters (ie the English far right) are anti-Zionist, hence their support for Galloway.

We're seeing lines being drawn on the Palestinian issue in politics here in real time. That's the determining factor, not because Nick Griffin and Galloway are aligned on any policies.

Just looking through the party list in Rochdale, is there any candidate standing that isn't a nasty piece of shit? I mean you can obviously rule out the two absolutely nastiest pieces of shit (Tory and Labour) then you're not left with much.

Is he going to talk about the swimming pool and the gym of the parliament building?

Galloway was a big Corbyn supporter. Maybe they should join up and be a proper party with multiple MPs.

I didn't know that but I still find it snobby of you to focus on it. Not my problem.
You think it's snobby to hope people in Rochdale get something tangible from their years of being kicked around as a political football on a national, and now international, platform?

Well alright.

Yes they have with the Muslim community as a result of their policies on Gaza but if those communities think George Galloway is the answer then I’m not sure what to tell them. I expect this to be a protest vote and Labour to win the seat in the general election but will have to see how it works out.

Now Accepting Positive Reps.
Am I dramatically over simplifying it by saying that if Labour held a position on the conflict whereby they dominated the Muslim vote they would probably still be deemed unelectable by a majorityand not in a position to win the next election? Is there a position that brings everyone together? I don’t think there is. I don’t think there is a pro-Palestine position that wins at the GE for Labour given the anti-Semitic shit storm of the last 8-10 years because they would be absolutely mugged by traditional media. Starmer just wants to be first past the post and I don’t think he minds who he pisses off as long as he is indeed first. You would think cost of living would be the one thing to unite all kinds of people that Labour could lead with but social conservatives on both sides don’t seem to care, enough, yet.

Nice pay day for George, once again.

I wonder if the suffering masses in Gaza know their plight has helped to get him back into Parliament...its an ill wind.... and all that!

The UK will pay at least £370m to Rwanda as part of its plan to relocate asylum seekers there, the government's spending watchdog has revealed.

Up to £150,000 will also be paid for each person sent to the east African country over a five-year period.

Eye watering sums of money being thrown at the Rwanda debacle. It is clearly nothing more than a Rishi Sunak vanity project.

He's still a far more capable parliamentarian than >99% of the ones currently sitting. Depends on your various foreign policy views.

He disowned the Griffin endorsement, btw, which is comical because his base is multi-ethnic muslim, precisely the people Griffin despises.

Galloway hasn't changed in 20 plus years whatever else you might say about him. Lots of reasons to dislike, as per personality cult, and lots of reasons to like, as per consistently accurate when it comes to the UK's positions abroad.

It will be stoking divisions in some way. Making clear to everyone which strawman they will be building their election against in coordination with the right wing media machine.
