The gaps in the middle are still massive, you can't get away from it. He knows it, and it needs to be worked on.

However, he took some huge risks that paid off today and you have to respect that. Fair fecking play.

Which only got them goals from 2 deflections.

We beat them on XG, we beat them at the actual football part of football.
Which can always happen when you allow the opposition to have 25 free shots at your goal every game.

If he qualifies for the Champions League and reaches the FA cup final, I might be open to have him stay next season. Just don't have him recruit.

They were, in fact bar Van Gaal we probably waited too long to sack them. And anyone arguing Ten Hag should be given another season must have also thought Moyes, Louis, Jose and Ole deserved another season.

Like with ETH the structure above them they were working under was poor/incompetent granted, but then that same incompetent structure also hired them all.
I think he should be given a chance to start next season and I didn’t disagree with the sacking of the other 4. ETH has shown *in spells* the ability to produce exciting and winning football (unlike Moyes) and there has never been the toxicity that crept in under Jose, nor the sense that the players stopped playing for him, like under Ole/LVG

Well I'd like to say hopefully it's the case but it might involve City and Liverpool winning European trophies.
Not quite. If Arsenal bump Bayern out then I think we are pretty much in a driving seat. Aston villa can carry the flag in the conference league and go all the way too.

Will he become the second Dutch manager to be sacked after no CL qualification and an FA cup final?

Have you seen that? A must watch.

We basically have an attacking method which bears fruit but also leaves us very open at the back when we are at our most injured squad wise.

Much better. Big game against a good opponent, we looked a lot more like we belonged versus games where we’ve taken a pasting over the last few seasons. Good subs and think we setup as well as we could.

Important to remember that there's no difference in points allocation between the competitions.

Villa win the Conference League, West Ham do Leverkusen and Arsenal do Bayern, and we're looking good.

This is a very bad video, it implicates we have a deep back four by design, which is stone cold bollocks.

Surprised us all by starting AWB on the left. Right call as he handled Salah well in the first half.

Think the West Ham and Arsenal ones are dodgy. I see Leverkusen beating West Ham over 2 legs

Imagine if villas Europe run helps us into Europe and they end up missing out because their cup run takes it out of them in the league

If I'm not mistaken, Arsenal doing leverkusen and villa making it few a couple more rounds is good enough. You also get marginal points for each win.

Gotta give him credit for that. Threw everything at Pool as a United manager should. Gave players the belief to go for it. Well done.

Fair enough.

I'd say England are favourites to get one of the places, but it's still in the balance at the moment.
Hopefully it happens and we can come 5th.

If he gets CL football then I don't think he'll get sacked, which would be fair enough as that's been the bar for every other manager post SAF to keep their job.

Try and fecking criticise him today. Go on..

Klopp had nothing to combat our tactical changes in extra time. Brilliant.
This is the thing for me as well, Klopp had no answer for him today. Hoping for another one from him come April. Licha couldn't come back sooner.

Also, 4th isn't completely ruled out. Villa and Spurs aren't far off each other, if we catch up on one we may catch up on both.

Both have harder fixtures left compared to us, notably a City fixture that we've already played. If we have players staying fit and Licha back after internationals, wel see some twists yet.

It was more our players showing heart and taking full advantage of Liverpool's sloppiness than tactics but whatever.

Look are our chances vs the ones they got?

We won on xG as well. There is literally nothing Liverpool did today that would suggest they deserved to win more than we did even with our vast open plain of a midfield.

That was pretty great from him tbh

Has to be said that Klopp fecked up pretty badly when he subbed Salah for Gakpo
I don't care because at the end of the day we won and we have a nice route to the final now but yeah, you can't really ignore the fact that we were there for the taking in the second half at times. Liverpool messed up so many opportunities and didn't really make great chances out of them. We looked so deflated before the Antony goal. Massive credit to EtH with the subs though

Hilarious that we scored from a Liverpool corner after it feels like we’ve conceded that goal several times. It was shaky for a lot of the second half, but I thought we played some really good stuff in the first, despite everyone losing their mind over a screenshot.

Easy to critique the tactics when you see the midfield so open, but the players shouldn’t be losing the ball so easily. Liverpool play in a similar way but make it much harder to play through with their press. Thats the next step for this team, play how Liverpool did in the first part of the second half.

Our points are effectively divided by eight, as they take an average over the number of teams that have entered, but the German and Italian points are only averaged over seven.

Looking at last year's scores, reaching a final is almost as good as winning it, points-wise.

That's so weird to me because they seemed totally in control in the second half and it was their final pass that ruined things for them time and time again. That 5 vs 2 opportunity they had summed it up. I don't think Liverpool deserved anything from that game to be clear but I just was convinced we'd collapse as the second half progressed. Even the crowd seemed to feel it and get frustrated.
