I am adamant journalists in this country are pussies compared to Spanish ones. In Spain someone would have asked the coach a very direct question “There has been several clips of Rashford pressing with barely any intent, is he doing this per your instructions or is he not working as hard as you want him to” that question forces ETH to really answer it and not say things like “Rashford is motivated”

This about the focal point not supposed to engage like in the Salah clip...

That's all well and good but Rashford half heartedly followed his man back 30-40 yards and then pointed him off for someone else to pick up. He wasn't ready for any transition like Salah was, waiting around the centre circle.

Also Liverpool weren't holding on to a lead. So either Rashford is just doing his own lazy thing or Ten Hag doesnt tell his forwards what to do differently when the whole team is supposed to be sitting back and looking to counter.

Even in France they show more courage when asking questions.

Rashford is now like Owen at 26 or Rooney at 28. A speed reliant player on a decline. If Jim has any sense Rashford needs to be sold, this summer.

Tried a little bit harder, but a nothing performance once again. You could put someone that receives a third of what he does for the same.

If we can get good money for him we should take it

Good today. Shame about the injury as we could have really done with him in the last 20 minutes.

How did he even get injured? And what did he injure? If it’s a hamstring then he’s pretty much out for the rest of the season at this point.

That situation where he got to the byline and still thought he could work a shooting chance for himself instead of feeding a teammate was peak selfishness.

Garnancho did more in 10 mins on the left than he did all game. Time should be up on rashford.

No worse or better than any other of our forward line. Didn't see a lack of effort, just a lack of much else (same with Hojlund and Garnacho)

He wasn’t trying to create a shooting chance obviously. He delayed the cross to try and make the cut-back a bit easier and give others a chance to get in position. Had he crossed it at the point you are now suggesting we should have crossed it, I’m absolutely certain you’d have accused him of brainlessly kicking it with no thought as to who he was passing to.

There’s stuff to criticise Rashford for, albeit not much today, but our winger carrying it half the length of the pitch and being tackled just before he can put a cross in isn't something I’d personally regard as anything other than just normal good wing play - I can guarantee I could find several examples of Salah or Dias doing something similar today.

Did alright. Put some great balls in. Thought it was weird we didn't run at Bradley more after he got an early yellow

Probably one of his better games, which says something.

Most of the time when he kept it simple, he does well. Anytime he tries to solo it, he fecked up.

I would like to see it again but watching it live, nah that was a bad bit of play that is typical of Rashford.

He got to the goal line and had already made the space to cut it back or put in a cross. I don't think Hojlund or anybody was getting it but you should always usually put a good ball in to create chaos and/or for us to win the ball. Delaying and delaying like he did was just counter productive. It's not an isolated incident, he has many previous of this. Sure he's created probably a dozen or so good chances with this type of composure in his career but he's probably butchered 4 or 5 times that too.

And most of those good times was when he was at his peak under Ole. His productivity with these type of dribbles has reduced significantly.

He had no support, and gave none, from AWB. He was hardly set up to go one on one against Bradley, where I would have favoured Rashford.

What exactly was our game plan?

For that reason I would have put Garnacho on the left. He would at least have ran at Bradley and maybe induced some more fouls.

Yes, and not for the first time that ETH wasn't smart enough to do so in a game this season.

For me, Rashford has never been a fantastic player. He never felt like one of those really exciting academy prospects - I barely heard of him before he got his shot in the first team. Still, he got given his opportunity and he took it, and the rest is history.

At this point I just hope ETH can be honest to himself and stop saying Rashford is progressing / picking up form / trying his best / important whatsoever. I watch week in week out for the same poor & lack-of-effort performance from Rashford and still have to hear the manager defending him with BS . That's just pivoting my anger towards the manager .

I know the answer, he's homegrown and English, but still.

Berbatov was a pleasure to watch, yet deemed lazy. Rashford is awful to watch, and somehow he's just "misunderstood".

This season
ETH if he actually wants to save his job should drop him from squad for at least two games.

Apparently they are going to make staff redundant to balance the books. But won’t sell rashford to get 60-80m and £300k p/w off the wages

Two things that I felt were absolutely mental from him today, was running the ball out of play and tracking back, getting in between the man and ball and still letting the ball go to Liverpool.

He has little positive impact on how we play.
