it is annoying to see him keep booting the ball aimless into the midfield, which is a 90% guaranteed loss of possession

Will be interesting to see his long ball stats. Forget actually going to a United player, more often than not, it was either out of play or nowhere near a United player. Shocking long ball distribution. Shot stopping is the a disaster too.

Some fans just like to hate on Onana even when we have a good game!

So apart from the terrible clearance at the end and his sh&t kicking, he was quite good. Not sure that’s what you want from your number one though

That one mistake changes the whole game though! Regardless of how many saves he makes, that's such a huge weakness, gifting a goal almost every game.

You honestly think that’s a good outing? He did nothing that any half decent goalie can’t do. His boxing is weak - other goalies hit the ball 20-30 yards. We are lucky if it escapes the 18 yard box.

His save for the weak shot is terrible parrying, again. Must be one every match by now.

His distribution was woeful.
That save at the end was so infuriating, and it doesn't matter in the slightest that Martinelli was offsides and hit the bar.

But the shot from Odegaard wasn't a very good connection, I think the commentator even said he didn't hit it well. But Onana barely gets down to it! And then he is so weak with the "save", that he barely got down to, that he might as well have tied a ribbon around that rebound just begging anyone to come in and smash it home.

Just awful. He has to be replaced this summer. I can't handle another year of this nonsense.

Had so little to do he was diving around in the centre circle at one point.

Really needs to adapt his penalty saving technique... Feels like he goes so early. Though he has saved one penalty this season from I think 10 faced which is about average I'd have thought?

How comes that a GK we brought in to improve our build up is so bad at long balls? Feels like the only advantage he has to De Gea in terms of long passing is the strength. His passes always finds the opponent or goes out unless Zirkzee somehow gets there first, but compared to Raya for example in the last game, I found it to be really bad.

Leicester 0:3 Man Utd New
Good clean sheet today, a few important saves

Nottingham Forest 1:0 Man Utd New
I don't know if I've ever seen a keeper manage to dive to make a save but not actually move anywhere as regularly as he does.

He is fecking appalling.

Made a good save from the offside header, gave Elanga very easy finish though, and worst of all for me his distribution is still terrible. The main reason we bought him in, yet any pass over 15 yards invariably goes to the opposition.

yeah his best save wouldnt have mattered, and the one that mattered he pretty much just flops directly down to his side with zero push.

Been saying since he's come in but his footwork on his saves and post coverage is atrocious. Constantly diving from the same spot. Never uses his feet to actually get leverage to go sideways.

I've kept my eye on it as well
He very often just jumps, doesn't use his feet to take a step and push himself further

There was a time in the second half where he collected the ball. The camera then cut away for what must have been at least 10/15 seconds, probably longer, and when it returned to the game he had only *just* released the ball.

He actually never moves his feet. It's always just a sideway fall. Today he might have not saved it nonetheless but it's one among many flaws in his game.

So poor for their goal.

Positioning was terrible, he covers the wrong side and can't get down quickly enough.

Very poor.

Very good save though it was offside so goal wouldn't have stood. About the goal - don't think his positioning was good but also not sure he'd saved it anyway. People are right to be frustrated though with his positioning overall regardless of tonight's situation.

Think after almost 2 full seasons it's quite clear where we stand with Onana. Hope Amorim will be thinking the same and replace him. GK who played for Ajax, Inter and United isn't a bad one but we need a better one definitely. These two seasons have been poor for us anyway but really wouldn't feel right if we went with Onana in goal for a third season.

No issues with Onana today. Dorgu should've closed down Elanga a bit better so he couldn't get an open shot on goal. Most decent strikers aren't going to miss that shot.

Great diving save by Onana in the 2nd half as well. Certainly the least of our problems at the moment.

Most half decent keepers save Elanga's shot.

As usual his positioning is crap.

His diving technique is very hard to understand.

He almost leaps up and lands no further to the left or right than where he started the jumping action.

Almost like he is sweeping his feet out from under him so he can fall quicker? But it rarely works or looks convincing.

Strange keeper.

He’s made this his speciality. Diving by just falling with his arm out rather than springing and stretching across.

We never did our due diligence on this idiot and signed him off the back of a singular CL campaign. There’s no way he’s ever been a good keeper. Not with his lack of technique, handling or positioning. I refuse to believe it.

Agree that defence was horrible in the goal and should have taken Elanga down at least, he basically just ran straight ahead

But Onana did not look great in that goal, far from his worst this season though but overall he's just not good enough, maybe it's the pressure of a real club, many players can't perfom mentally at man utd

Don't agree with that, defenders closed off the shot to his right. All he had to do was prepare for a shot to his left.

What did he do?

Stood more towards his right post, left the whole left side of the goal open and then just collapsed as he tried to dive.

I've defended him on here, but there's no defending that, it was a tame shot and he should have got down comfortably and saved it.

100% agreed.

The scouts need to be investigated along with whoever signed this transfer off.

Yet again he was let down by his defenders yesterday, the Forest goal should have been stopped before Elanga got anywhere near our box.

A decent keeper saves that Elanga shot.
He makes everything so difficult for himself with poor positioning and very limited mobility. It looked like he could get nowhere near it, when in reality it should have been relatively straightforward.
Must get rid in the summer.
