sad
all talks no walk player. I'd rather have Barthez, at least he would keep his mouth shut
The moment Onana shittalked Lyon, we all knew he would make few howlers in the match

The most infuriating thing is that he’s not even any better in the ball for us than DDG was.

He's an embarrassment.

Worst keeper we've ever had and it's not even close.

HAVE to get a new keeper in the summer. Striker and keeper are urgent priorities.

I dont think he made as many errors at his previous clubs as he has with us though.

a lot of those clips are from his time at other clubs

he was known to be quite mistake prone before he signed for us. The hope was that he could iron these things out and the upside of his distribution would outweigh it.

He needs to be dropped, he’s made far too many errors leading to goals, and him staying in the starting 11 doesn’t help anyone.

No idea but a lot of warning signs were there at Inter with how many saves he parried back into the danger area. Inters defenders mopped up a lot of those.

There was a Cameroonian poster here during that time that was begging the club not to sign him. Basically said his fundamentals are laughable and how they laugh at how bad he is every time he plays for the NT.

You're not really proving much becuase I'm sure we can create a United reel that outweighs other clubs.

I thought DDG in his last season for us was bad but feck me give me him any day over the clown show we witness on a regular basis with Onana. It’s like starting a goal down most games, any other team would think that’s job done if they score in added time but with him between the sticks you’re never safe until the ref blows the final whistle!

How right was matic. Horrible, horrible goal keeper who undid a potential great result

I don't want to hear any of this 'redemption', 'bounce-back', 'something to prove' talk for the next week.

Onana must be dropped for good and Bayindir given a chance. It's beyond embarrassing that we've kept faith with him for so long when it's evident that he isn't a good goalkeeper.

Of all the games he couldn’t afford to feck up in…

Bayindir to be the Sealey for the remainder of the season please.

Down to Jim Leighton confidence in him before we got in Les Sealey.

Sick of his clangers in Europe

Hopefully we can move him on in the summer.

If Amorim keeps playing him, I don't know what to say. He'll cost us Champions League football next season. Regardless of how good Bayindir is, the optics will look awful continuing to play him with his constant blunders.

I feel really sorry for him.
He was actively mocking the Lyon fans close to the end of the game, before handing them reason to cheer with his second blunder of the game.

Can't even remain humble despite being bailed out by teammates then undoes all their good work. He seems to have no self-awareness, and today's foolishness was completely self-inflicted.

He didn't buy himself and he doesn't pick himself. He should be doing better but he isn't actively trying to be crap. It looks to me like a person who is naturally overly confident is going through a terrible patch and is compensating for that by being even more overly confident which is a terrible combination. The best thing for him and the club right now is to bench him, perhaps sell. The atmosphere and narrative between him, the fans and the media now feels like it's something which can't be reversed. So yes, I feel a tad sorry for him, because as poor as he's been and as atrocious as the mistakes have been, there are some pretty rank things that have been posted here and on socials about him already. He's still a person at the end of the day aside from football.
While I'm certain that there has been some inappropriate criticism leveled against him (I haven't seen any threats or racism, personally), most of what I'm reading is entirely justified.

If you're going to take the step to play for a club like this, you have to take the good with the bad. Receiving a torrent of criticism for letting down millions of fans around the world should come as no surprise.

Of course, there's no need for any abuse and I certainly wouldn't condone that. But he's been fecking shite and and I have no qualms about reminding him of that.

I normally would (Like I feel sorry for Hojlund ) but I just can't for Onana.

I think it's because of his antics as well as being absolutely terrible. He seems like he's a bit of a tit.

I was done in the palace game when he wasted about a minute in stoppage time while we were losing trying to roll the ball forwards 10 yards and constantly getting told to move it back by the ref whilst the rest of the team stood waiting in the box for that final throw of the dice. He has the IQ of a lemming

I don't think there's a functional brain cell between Onana, Dalot and Garnacho.

Pretty much what I think as well. I can't remember a GK at a big club having such high profile clangers and having this narrative built around him for 2 years now, and coming back from it. For the sake of his own career he should look at moving in the summer.

Unpopular opinion but I don't think tonight was that bad of an error, it was fired at him from 12 yards through a crowd of players.

Cost us last season in Europe, potentially costing us this season too.

Surely the Management team will take notice given the direct impact £££?

Not going far with this lad between the sticks - new GK must be a priority in the summer. Just a standard competent Premier League level keeper would be a huge upgrade

I think he's a naturally overly confident person and I've seen people like that before who compensate in awkward moments by being even more overly confident which is not a pretty combination. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case with Onana. Best thing for him and you all is for him to be dropped. Perhaps sold due to the potentially irreversible damage to his reputation on the back of his clangers.

The real sad part is that his distribution is shite. He's not even the all-action, ball-playing sweeper keeper that people were demanding after De Gea. He spends nearly as much time rooted to his line as Dave did and his passing stats are rubbish compared to other Premier League keepers (5th most long balls launched, 2nd worst completion rate). He's genuinely not good at anything.

I agree in that I don't think the 2nd goal was on him. The team was too deep and gave away far too many shots from 12 yards out in the 2nd half. Also leaving Cherki onside too

The occasion, the comments beforehand, late timing of the goal, stakes and general straw that broke the camels back nature of it are all contributing here.

I don’t think the second goal is entirely his fault but the first error is possibly his worst un a Utd shirt for me. He sees it all the wiz and just doesn’t read it whatsoever. I just can’t see him being replaced in the summer is the issue.

Actually, it was forest. He’d also made two blunders in that game, like literally just let a gibbs white chance and a wood headed in without really even attempting to save.

As alluded to by a poster in another thread, I reckon betting patterns need looking into here

The infuriating part is we already had that in Henderson - only needed to go out and spend big money for absolute top quality, not someone who's arguably worse.

Fronting out a bad situation is one thing, but actively mocking and goading points toward something more concerning to me - if there's any time to be humble, it's in a game where you've already made a massive feck up, but he doesn't... he gives it the big 'un before making yet another blunder. Unbelievable.

I'm desperate for him to be sold. Can't be dealing with calamitous keepers; they unsettle far too many players.

If that's the case, Amorim might as well just hand in his resignation now. How can you possibly succeed at this level with a keeper that makes these errors.

Plus the fee we paid for Onana was enough to sign the vast majority of goalkeepers in the top European leagues. Almost all of whom are better than he is.

With Taibi we signed him for £4.5m and sold him a year later for £2.5m. No opportunity cost and little financial cost.
Inter bought his replacement for a tenth of what we paid for Onana. And he's far better.
