Once upon a time, a trio of Martial, Rashford, and Bruno were a sight to behold. Was it his goal against City? a quick free-kick by Bruno that only Martial would understand.
Of course he won't get a top club. He's been utterly destroyed by injury and can barely get on the pitch.A player who epitomises the Woodward era. He’s been the biggest waste of space given wages and fee. Face like a slapped arse too - can’t wait for him to finally be off our wage bill. Bet he doesn’t get a top club next. Most likely do a DDG and not bother with football.
Nonsense he's just been really unfortunate with injuries which have ruined him.A player who epitomises the Woodward era. He’s been the biggest waste of space given wages and fee. The only passable season he's had in the last 4 years was last season, and one ok/decent season in 4 years is unacceptable, especially at that wage. At least Luke Shaw can put one good season in each time before he has his inevitable collapse the following year.Nonsense he's just been really unfortunate with injuries which have ruined him.
Any of our best spells of performances in the last few years involved him as a starter, levels ahead of the dross we serve up now without him.
Easy to say now but he had his best season the year after signing the contract. The only passable season he's had in the last 4 years was last season, and one ok/decent season in 4 years is unacceptable, especially at that wage. I feel for him as it's not his fault he's injured and finished at the age of 28 but what absolute ineptitude it was giving him that contract. 19 goals in 4 years is just wretched.
Probably cause one has been here about 8 months and the other 9 years, so giving they are giving a young lad the benefit of the doubt over someone that is a known quantity. Also the Martial that is a better striker option only exists about 4 years ago. As meh as Holljund has been at times, he has a larger goal tally than Martial's last 3 seasons combined. Why does martial get such harsh treatment but hojlund is forgiven for non existent displays this season when the reality is when both are fit martial is the better striker option
Because he's the shiny new signing and they said we'd be much better with Martial out of the team. Why does martial get such harsh treatment but hojlund is forgiven for non existent displays this season when the reality is when both are fit martial is the better striker option
To be fair, many posters were shitting on Martial even when he had his 'prime'. He didnt run enough, he sulked because he got competition and he didnt smile enough were some of the made up reasons for not liking him for example. Martial was never liked much by the fanbase on this forum.Probably cause one has been here about 8 months and the other 9 years, so giving they are giving a young lad the benefit of the doubt over someone that is a known quantity. Except ‘Martial FC’. He has divided opinions, and understandably so. His best period as a player for me, under Ole in 2020, was good enough for a United striker, but alas and alack, as with so many others, lasted way too short. It felt like missing two sitters vs Sevilla and the EL final that covid crazy autumn was the beginning of the fall for him at United. Injuries, self confidence, whatnot. I think his loan spell with Sevilla was when the penny finally dropped for me, that he for some reason would never be a solid Plan A for us, even though he had quite a few fairly good performances for Ten Hag last year inbetween more injuries. I think probably both the doubters and the lovers where onto something with him, but certainly a great ‘what if’-player. That season when we had just come 2nd in the league and lost the EL final on 22 penalties, I think some of us should be forgiven for dreaming of a team consisting of the best versions of Pogba, Bruno, Martial, Rashford and Sancho hitting full bloom, particularily after winning 5-1 in the opener (Pogba four assists, Bruno hattrick, Sancho and Rashford not even starting). To be fair, many posters were shitting on Martial even when he had his 'prime'. Such a shame that Martial hasnt been able to build upon his best years. Had he been able to do so, he would have been amongst the best strikers in the world and Hojlund would have been an excellent young understudy.
