The hollowest "win" you can imagine. The point is, they're far from a majority and, indeed, most Spaniards don't go along with their shit. Quoting any election numbers, to me, doesn't disprove that.
It doesnt matter, at least with the catalan process. PSOE and Ciutadanos are well aligned with PP in that matter and that is 70-80 %

You don´t need to be careful with me. I am quite understandable if you don´t laugh at what is happening :)

I am from the first kind, Rajoy could do nothing about us, but we were just 20%. Economic ones, were very easy, dont piss them off eliminating the estatute, that I repeat, was aproved by the SPANISH government (estaute that has articles that are in other estatutes and they were not bring to the tribunals and they are fully working).

And the pissed off, don´t fecking do what you did these days

Definetely could do something, I think now is too late
Yes, he could resign and the Spanish people should choose someone that can right all the damage Rajoy and the PP have done for the last decade in the Spain-Catalunya relationship. But he's not going to do that because in Spain no one resigns
Thank you for taking the time to explain this.

Why did he reject the new constitution in 2006? What was the problem with your new constitution for him?

with less (residual) to a lot (Catalonia), nobody wants to be spanish

Madrid is an artificial city that is the capital for the mere fact that is in the middle and a king decide that. Then, they dragged resource from the rest of the country along the centuries. Being spanish is fantastic for them :lol:

It absolutely matters when refuting the notion that they have the support of the majority.

And that is because to models of state coexist (barely). Progressive like basque and Catalonia vs Conservative like Castilla and the south. It had been a constant clash. Madrid wants to control, that regions wants to handle their own businesses
Andalucia is a socialist stronghold but merely because PSOE means Andalucia. They are the state there.

Was to much power for catalonia. To much handling our business for their taste and we wanted to be called a nation (just a freaking name), and PP say "no no, bad hombres catalans".

As always, the constitution can be interpreted some days, but when one of the constitutional judges is and exfrancoist one and the rest are put by the PP and PSOE (status quo) you already know the result

Iglesias pushing Sanchez to overthrow Rajoy.
Sanchez aligned with rajoy already with the catalan question after what iglesias said. Of course criticizing Rajoy for the police brutallity but defending at the same time thee police action

International Observers (Ex Foreign afers MP of Slovenia):

- "Had been injured, electronic sabotage and sizing of ballot boxes."
- "The Referendum had been a success"
- "The Referendum was well prepared acording to Spanish law"
- "Spanish police acts were brutal and menacing
- " The results should take in account by the international comunity"
- " police action is againt european treaties"
- "apalled that europe is not speaking up"

Apparently 2 observers were detained 1 hour by the Guardia Civil to scare them

Lots of demonstrations around Spain in solidarity with catalonia. With them we could be together without a doubt. Unfortunately, they are not a majority

So if Catalonia becomes an independent state, are they going to have their own league ?

To top that, we just went through a similar thing with the Ibarretxe plan that was beated in the congress in 2005, so maybe they thought they were in a stronger position to destroy the "estatut", but (and it hurts me saying this about such an inept politician) Zapatero worked the ground better with Ibarretxe looking for an understanding, Rajoy showed his true colors as a bully once he disputed the Estatut and made it only worse once he became the president

Well, PSC was rulling Catalonia and PSOE in Spain. And PP could not allow that. He needed to surpress the socialist vote in Catalonia and he succeded

I don't expect an all-out civil war but the situation could get really, really dangerous presuming Catalonia declare full-on independence now. Nasty times ahead.

I hope things like this are a joke or not true at all

Edit: Allegedly there's the "universal census" that they had to use once the police started closing schools

exactly, universal census,
Anyway, even if the international observers says that the referendum was ok, my opinion is that the spanish government made it without guarantees

Also, everything indicates that on the 4th, they will declare the independence. First the president, then the vice president

Maybe they want to provoke a reaaction for the international momentum that is aligning in our side, because if not I don´t see it smart.

I am scared, it will be very nasty.

Also, never expected the big balls than the catalan politicians are showing. They will pay darely

Just a question from the ignorant, but if the Catalans did declare independence would there be an obvious area for it, with natural and relatively uncontested borders, or would it be messy? I mean apart from Madrid not wanting it at all, that is.

We've seen this before: A minority group goes on a mission for independence but the ensuing Govmnt crackdown makes martyrs out of them and it only serves to turn the previously non aligned into supporters of independence.
Time will tell if that happens here.
