Scouse influence in action.
Isn't the minimum ban for a charge of this nature three games nowadays?I'm still not convinced this will be a 3 game ban.... or a ban of any kind. (maybe one game at most)
Don't think it will. Anyone who thinks this has racial implications need to take a long hard look at themselves. Absolute joke from the FA.This thread will bring out the knuckle draggers, just like last time.
Which is what I think might happen. That’s not how it works. The minimum imposition *is* 3 games. He has been charged so it will be 3 games, unless we are successful in our appeal (should we choose to do so).
He's in for the 3 games thenNo, but they changed the min ban length to 3 games at the start of the season.
He used a word that has no English meaning but looks like a taboo word.He said a word that in some contexts means “little black”
After the year we’ve had regarding race relations anything remotely close to a racial slur, particularly a racial slur against black people, is going to be punished.
Yeah it's improper rather than anything overtly racist. Our players need to learn that content they put on social media isn't private and they have to moderate their language as if they were doing a TV interview. It's difficult because the intention of the rules brought in are obviously there to act against incidents of racism and hate, which I think we all know this wasn't intended to be in anyway. However, given the phrase he used (even taking the context in to account) I'm not sure we could have any complaints if he receives a ban.
That timing would be sensible,Which is what I think might happen.
Either that or we just accept the charge after the Leicester game and he can then miss two home games vs. Wolves and Villa and the FA Cup game.
Unless we have a successful appeal, yes. I really don't think we will appeal though. We will time our response of accept decision & he will be banned from that point. All about games management this. He's in for the 3 games then
They've not said it's racist.Does anyone in the world, outside of the English FA, think this was racist? Literally. Is there anyone?
Well the word be used sounds similar to “negro” which, yes, is why he was punished. He used a word that has no English meaning but ooks like a taboo word.
Thats all it is
it’s a problem linking this to other events. Too many people are offended, that someone else might be offended. Even if no one of offended. That’s the default position. He said a word that in some contexts means “little black”

The FA have been pushing for equality & heavily featuring the BLM campaign (for PR of course, they don’t actually care) they weren’t going to turn a blind eye to this & risk the negative PR.
Everyone knows he clearly wasn’t being racist, but he was always going to be punished.
A lot are actually offended that the English are governing their native tongueDoes anyone in the world, outside of the English FA, think this was racist? Literally. Is there anyone?
thanks. Didn’t see that. Hopefully someone can combine the two. There's already a thread on this:

They are just bringing negative PR upon themselves. Nobody would have cared if they just dropped it. It's things like this that ruin their good PR work on equality.Well the word be used sounds similar to “negro” which, yes, is why he was punished.
He got unlucky, but they were never not going to punish him. All it takes is a few people to say “so you say you’re for equality but you let this slide” & all their great PR work on race equality goes out the window.
The word he used was 'negro' which means black in Spanish. I think the problem is that it sounds similar to the n word. In Spanish, people regularly refer to their friends as 'the white one'/'black one' and while it sounds awkward in English, it's somewhat innocuous for the most part in Spanish.Well the word be used sounds similar to “negro” which, yes, is why he was punished.

Do the FA give a shit? No. They don’t care about racism either, they just don’t want the negative coverage, so they are handling it the way they think they should for the best PR.
Just because a foreign word sounds like an English word doesn't mean anythingWell the word be used sounds similar to “negro” which, yes, is why he was punished.

Yep, we can. Have until the 4th to respond so can at any time.Cant we just accept the ban now? So he'll be out for today, leeds game and league cup.
Apart from being the literal Spanish word for black, sounding like an offensive word in a different language doesnt mean anything otherwise id be too scared to ask for a babygrow in a shopWell the word be used sounds similar to “negro” which, yes, is why he was punished.

Well said close thread! He said a word that in some contexts means “little black”

Can he play tonight then we accept? (Not that we should)Yep, we can. Have until the 4th to respond so can at any time.
As they should be.A lot are actually offended that the English are governing their native tongue
Absolute cretins. Wasn't the guy in question Caucasian even ? Where is the racial reference ?
Yes imagine it happening the other way around? It's just the most bizarre thing. The FA have surely shot themselves in the foot and have been ignorant and actually causing racism by choosing to charge him.A lot are actually offended that the English are governing their native tongue
This is just basically saying that you can't speak in other languages over here if it remotely sounds like a racist word. A pathetic concept that we should in no way accept. It makes no difference that it may be ok in South America he is playing and living here and that's what counts.
Certainly can’t be any worse. How long was he suspended for?Surely it will be just the same suspension as Bernardo Silva got a few years back?
Only by the ignorant. We cannot stand by and allow this to unfold... in cases like this even if it does short term damage you should do it. But with Manchester United being a global brand, I doubt they'll want to take the risk... they should though and it would be great if they did.Probably won't appeal, the world we live in these days the club would be called racist for appealing this type of charge. Pathetic.
