No 6-pack, just 2Pac
I'd take spurs fan gloating in front of my face anyday than Pool winning another CL.
The 6 times will be unbearable.
The 6 times will be unbearable.
Keep the dream alive though!! Someone said you'd been 20mins from going out the whole way and it could be fate. The idea that winning the Champions League (which only a handful of English clubs have ever managed) 'wouldn't register' is absurd. It's the biggest tournament in club football, only 3 clubs in the Premier League can boast winning it at all, and the biggest club in the country has only managed it three times in their entire history.
Us winning it would be huge and would put us on the map, 100%. New stadium gets crowned with the champions league? Absolute dream world. The money and prestige boost would be huge.
I agree with you though, I think we'll fall just short. Liverpool are better than us, there's no getting round it and they fully deserve to be in the final with us.
I'm pretty sure Spurs fans were not wearing flares in 1984. I can't be so sure about Liverpoo fans though.Madrid police have expressed major concerns about Spurs fans bringing flares into the stadium. Because that's what they wore the last time they played in a European final.
That's true. We were 12 minutes from going out against PSV in the 4th group stage match, 10 minutes away against Inter in the 5th match, 5 away against Barcelona in the final one.Keep the dream alive though!! Someone said you'd been 20mins from going out the whole way and it could be fate.
And would be hilarious if pool destroy barcelona, then lose the final!!
Group stage? Don't think you really deserved to beat PSV but scored with two late ones, even then you needed them to do you a favour in the last game v Inter. We're nothing like similar to Chelsea 2012. That was a genuine fluke of a campaign where they were played off the pitch by both Barcelona and Bayern but somehow escaped with wins, Barca in particular hit the post multiple times, I believe Chelsea equalised with their only shot on target vs Bayern. They did basically nothing for the entirety of that game then won it on penalties.
We've had our moments for sure but our games vs Ajax/City were both pretty even, we weren't completely dominated and then sucker punched them.
Bayern in that final had 20 corners with 0 goals, whereas Chelsea scored from their only corner of the game . It was honestly the most flukey and undeserved win I can remember as a football fan, no way should Bayern not have won that trophy.
We had 30 shots vs PSV and totally dominated the game, not sure how we didn't deserve to beat them.Group stage? Don't think you really deserved to beat PSV but scored with two late ones, even then you needed them to do you a favour in the last game v Inter.
So he switched from a Chelsea fan to a Liverpool fan then?I had some Liverpool P**ck in a bar the other day who just kept shouting in my face that they had won the CL 6 times.
When I pointed out that they haven't yet won the 6th he just got really aggressive and kept saying it was already won. He also said that Liverpool are in the middle of an era of dominance similar to United in the 90's and 0's.... When I said they haven't won anything he shouted "Yes we have, we won the CL in 2012"...... That's 7 years ago. You really cant make this stuff up.
I've no idea, the guy just didn't know what he was talking about. He also claimed that Liverpool have won a trophy more recently than Utd had (Because of their CL in 2012).So he switched from a Chelsea fan to a Liverpool fan then?
With the attacking firepower both teams have I dont see it being this low scoring.Spurs 1-0 (Cleanskin, 2012)
Not sure why there is so much obsession with RAWK.I've just been looking on RAWK and the enforced "group-think" on there about the CL final is truly astounding. No room for doubt or questioning is allowed - or at least not without being jumped on if the odd poster dares to break ranks.
According to RAWK, Spurs have virtually no chance whatsoever of winning.
The paranoia is typified by:
* "This is how bad morale starts in any group - whether it's a football club or an army. A number of individuals start expressing black thoughts and sooner or later everyone is infected ...
Liverpool are one of the most perfect football teams ever assembled. That's what should be on your mind - and your tongue."
* "I'm not interested in how we can lose. We're not going to lose. Anybody who is expressing concerns about us losing, taking Spurs for granted, cautioning us against being over confident etc etc, is simply hedging their bets against the pain of us falling short again. ... I'm not predicting a scoreline, but I am predicting a victory. There is simply no other outcome for me".
* ... there is actually no fecking way we are losing this one. No fecking way"
Well, I would say to the poster of the last comment above, actually there are several ways in which Liverpool might lose. You might be favourites, but that is no guarantee of victory.
Liverpool are something like 4/7 to win it outright, & Spurs are 7/4, so there's not much in it really as far as the odds go. I see shades of us in 2005 with Spurs this time around. Looking back, from the moment Gerrard scored that late screamer (You beauty) against Olympiacos in our final group match, I reckon our name was on the trophy. Garcia's 'ghost goal' against Chelsea in the semi's. Then us coming back from the dead in the final, & Dudek's late save in Extra-time. It was deemed to be our destiny to win it that year. I sense something similar with your team this time around. I make some decent money on in-play betting/trading throughout the season. My profit for the season just gone is over £4,000. I've stuck a massive £2,000 lay bet on Liverpool not to win the trophy at 1.59 on Betfair. My liability (potential loss) will be over £1,100 if we win. But the £2,000 I'll collect if we lose will help ease the pain. I could think of much worse English teams to lose the final too though. I'd certainly be happy for Glen Hoddle, who himself said he was nearly not here to witness your getting to the final for the first time ever. I'd also smile at the T-shirts Spurs fans would be wearing.........Lad's, it's Spurs. Champions of EuropeI've just been looking on RAWK and the enforced "group-think" on there about the CL final is truly astounding. For the Europa League final us and Chelsea got allocated 12000 tickets between us in a stadium that holds 68000.Read somewhere Spurs are only allocated 16500 seats? Is this the same for both teams? Who takes up the other 30000 seats? Neutrals? Who is forking out that much money to go watch as a neutral?
A couple of seasons ago you would have been correct but we're a lot more patient now and scored a lot of late goals in the season just finished. If spurs can knock City on they’re own patch there’s no reason they can’t win this. They’ll have to withstand the inevitable bumrush for the first 20mins but if they don’t concede then the pressure turns on to Liverpool.

Some Liverpool fans have been banned too. I saw a figure of over £4,000 quoted in one headline for a ticket. I can understand why these bans are being dished out but equally, I can sympathise with a fan who may really need some cash and can't refuse an offer of such an amount for a ticket.I'm just annoyed at the long wait. 3 weeks, ffs.
As for the game, I consider us slight favourites, but anything can happen in a one off and Spurs are very good on their day.
As an aside, I read that some Spurs season ticket holders have been banned indefinitely for trying to sell tickets through secondary websites. Imagine going from having a ticket to see your team play the CL final to having no ticket and have your ST cancelled. Ouch. I wonder what the going rate for a ticket to see the final on the black market is.
It's not the confidence that astounds me (speaking of RAWK), it's the enforced, paranoid and superstitious group-think where any doubts and questioners are jumped on and any real discussion is suppressed.I don't blame them for being confident. If we were facing a team who finished 20 odd points below us who we did the double over in the league, I would also be confident.
They're a better team than us (significantly) and for me big favourites to emerge with the trophy. It's a one off game in a final so anything can happen but that's the reality and I'm comfortable with it, we've massively exceeded expectations just by getting to the final. Anything more for me would be a bonus, the only way I'll be unhappy is if we don't even make it a contest and it ends like 3 or 4 nil, that would be unacceptable.
Oh yeah it's a properly shit forum. In fairness most football forums are, Redcafe is unique and hugely benefits (in my opinion) from the fact that you're allowed to not just be a blind supporter of the club and the views of rival fans are encouraged. Makes this place very unique. It's not the confidence that astounds me (speaking of RAWK), it's the enforced, paranoid and superstitious group-think where any doubts and questioners are jumped on and any real discussion is suppressed.
I've noticed how the 2005 final that Liverpool won gets assigned all sorts of dates. People seem to have this thought Rafa's win was sometime in the last 8-10 years.I've no idea, the guy just didn't know what he was talking about. He also claimed that Liverpool have won a trophy more recently than Utd had (Because of their CL in 2012).
Considering their last final before last year was 2006-07 it just completely baffled me. Also asked for my phone number so he could call me after they win their 6th. I respectfully declined.
I’m sure they have. With prizes being 4,000 like you say, then I can imagine a lot of people being tempted. Hell, I probably would be, too. Some Liverpool fans have been banned too. I saw a figure of over £4,000 quoted in one headline for a ticket. I can understand why these bans are being dished out but equally, I can sympathise with a fan who may really need some cash and can't refuse an offer of such an amount for a ticket.
Rightly so to be honest. The club have made their policy on this very clear and I think it's completely the right now. Trying to flip the ticket to a desperate fan for many thousands of fans is pretty scummy in my opinion.I'm just annoyed at the long wait. 3 weeks, ffs.

Yeah completely agreed and I don't understand why some fans get so wound up with what fans of other clubs say or write.I don't blame them for being confident. If we were facing a team who finished 20 odd points below us who we did the double over in the league, I would also be confident.

Definitely not a sure win. As others have said, this is two teams closely matched. A cup final can go either way. Just look at what happened to Liverpool last year. You just can't account for something like that happening!all of my friends who are making huge bets on Liverpool to win CL. it's more or less of a sure win ?
It's 65/35 in Liverpool's favour.all of my friends who are making huge bets on Liverpool to win CL. it's more or less of a sure win ?
It’s a massive game already being a final, the fact that it’s 2 English clubs is making it an absolute melting pot. I’m defenitely happier at beings the underdog going into this game. It's like people haven't watched us play in finals over the last 20 years.
It's never easy or straight forward.
