Yeah that’s true. Feels like it’s coming soon and I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to say football the way we know it hinges on the outcome. Can’t see the PL doing so well either way but unsure how Uefa and Fifa would react.
What chance is there for them to be punished, really? Just think the PL are going to be strong armed by the UK government (who are in turn strong armed by the oil states) into giving them a favourable verdict.
The PL would be worse off if they let them get away with it, as it basically renders them toothless (opening the floodgates for others to do the same) as well as hypocritical for coming down harshly on the likes of Everton and forest.
I get that they probably don’t want to admit that their valuable asset has been essentially corrupt and uncompetitive for the last decade, but the former is much worse imo. Hence why I can see them handing out huge point deductions while still honouring the titles city won. Even if us fans won’t.
Are PL (people in charge for final decision) even aware that with delaying decision they will put themselves in shit load of problems? There is a chance that season ends and nobody will know who is in CL, who is relegated, who is promoted....

Imagine if post-Munich, instead of rebuilding the club from the ground up through the great work of Sir Matt Busby and Jimmy Murphy, working hard on developing the new busby babes, ultimately culminating in the European cup just 10 years later, we cheated our way back instead. I'm trying to imagine if United were in the same situation, would I want the club to contest it as far as possible, or would I want it to just be over and done with? It must be just a little strange to exist in this world of constant litigation while winning all these trophies. Of course I guess it depends on whether you think your club is guilty or not, but it doesn't seem like a satisfying way to go through the most successful period of your club's history.

This was largely what changed my mind about the Qatar stuff. Granted it was after the fact and Jim had already made his moves, but at the time I preferred Qatar (Was happy with either option since anything is better than pure Glazers).
Since then, however, I have seen the way City have gone about all of this, and realized that even if we did not do exactly as they did, if it ever were to come to any kind of vote or consensus, we would likely side with city since our owners would want to do what city have done, or in fact if we were ever called out on it we might have tried these retaliatory lawsuits etc. and realized that that is not something I would ever want for United, so I am firmly against any kind of state ownership now.
I really wish all this wasn’t true, but it feels inevitable.
I’ve spent the last decade hoping that Trump might get what he deserves, but instead he has somehow been rewarded for his criminality and I look at that cheating lot across town in much the same way.
I’m still hoping for justice, but I’m not expecting it.

The only outcome of this debacle that I’d be happy with would be their relegation through a points deduction and any trophy they won by the bending of rules should be chalked off. No one else should be awarded a trophy for being the runner up, but they should be compensated heavily.

If nothing happens, it’s open season for everyone to spend what they want with questionable in club payments. Just look at Chelsea selling themselves the women’s football team!! Or club hotels being sold to themselves.
And if they are punished accordingly it’ll impact all the teams below them with counter claims being submitted because they shouldn’t have been relegated/should be Europe/should have received X million more for finishing higher

Many institutions are corrupt, I don't think that's naive. A lot of business and politics works on favours for favours and that can quickly get into murky territory.
But there isn't much evidence for a cartel in Premier League football. To be a cartel, United et al would have to have an illegal formal agreement to reduce competitiveness. A shared desire to not want state owned clubs in the league and acting in one's own best interests is not the same as being a cartel.

From what I can see, they're arguing that coordination between clubs to prevent what City are doing constitutes a cartel, which just isn't true, alongside lots of allegations without evidence.
At the end of the day whatever way it goes it's going to change football in a big way. Either they get bummed into next week and the pl gets back to a normal or they get away with it and the pl dies.
I just can't see how we and the other law abiding clubs don't do anything major about it if they get away with it.
Hopefully the genuine clubs tell them and the pl to feck off and start a new league without the cnuts!
