Conte | Spurs Manager

Hindsights a bitch, but Conte always been at clubs for the short haul. Judging him against Ralf is not really fair, as Ralf was always just an interim. We have to see how ETH fares, to have a full picture of who was the better option.

He obviously did a far better job than Rangnick, I don’t think anyone was trying to claim it would be otherwise either. We’ll have to see how thing pan out with ETH before judging that decision.

Also, just because Spurs had a bad start, let’s not forget they have Kane and Son. Arsenal have no one near that level of quality.

I'm referring to the board and the other half that didn't want him.
Well hindsight generally infers that at the time most people wouldn’t have thought hiring him was a good idea and that he wasn’t the right man for the job, which is total bullshit as pretty much anyone who had any knowledge of his past managerial exploits with underperforming teams like us and Spuds knew he was actually the perfect fit for us and it was always very likely to go down like this.

I hope ETH turns out to be a success and we don’t look like complete mugs again for letting him go to Spurs out of loyalty to a failing manager.

I can't find that poll of managers that we had at the time, but pretty sure Conte wasn't the choice most had, and half sounds too many as well. Most didn't want him if I recall back from that time.

Don't think anyone should be making any judgements for or against us getting him or not yet. This is one where in 2 or 3 years we look back and say EtH was the right choice or Conte was the one that got away.

And who's fault is that? Arteta was given 250+mln.So all the complain about players is a sore excuse. Same situation as us.

And Kane was terrible, cause he wanted to leave. Here is the stats:

Tottenham with Nuno was 9th.
They have played 10 matches, which they lost 5 and won 5. They scored just 9 goals and conceded 16. Their GD was -7. They were dead last in the running department. They were also 2 points behind us. They were at 1.5 PPM.

Let's see them now:
They obviously finish 4th. Conte had 28 league matches, they won 17, lost 6 and drew 5. They scored 60 goals and conceded 24, they earned 56 points, which is 2 PPM. They also finish 13 points above us.

And some Conte haters are saying he wouldn't be able to turn our season. I can't do anything but laugh at this people. Tottenham was nothing before him.

Erik Ten-Hag is nobody compare to Conte, who once again proven that he is top 5 manager in the world, and comes winning the league he is top 3 material.

Short term, long term, this hugely depend on the board and if they backup the manager. Conte is a smart guy and he is searching for the right place to stay for longer. Tottenham isn't that place. But we could have been that place, but board once again failed us.

The difference between being the CL and not be in it, it's huge.

I am really excited about Ten Hag but he would have some way to go to be as good as Conte.

Conte is probably just below Pep and Klopp with maybe 1 or 2 others.

Conte has done great with Spurs but I don’t believe he would have got top 4 with us… because we don’t have the likes of Kane and Son.

Well done Spurs and Spurs fans. Well deserved. Get ready to knock Mad Pep out again. :D

Long term I'm more excited about ten Hag than I would be about Conte. But short term we'd have done better this season with him. I'm grateful he kept Arsenal out of the CL, they're insufferable.

Once again proved beyond doubt he is one of greatest league managers in this generation. Give him what he wants he will give you what board wants.

Spurs and levy did a great job in bring him to them and now he delivered the cl football and money they spent for signings in January.

He's done a fantastic job for them. I think there's a limit to what he can achieve at Spurs but he was a great appointment for them. Wouldn't have been right for United imo.

Happy for Conte, Arsenal fan tears are always sweet.
Conte would have been a short term solution for us.
We had to hit rocket bottom this season, for things to change.
Onwards and upwards... #GGMU
Cheers to Brighton for today :)

The point is, in 3 years if we're comfortably in the top 4 and challenging for the league, we won't care one iota about Conte.

There's no point now saying he would've got us top 4. We'll have to look back and see.

Conte in line for £2.5m bonus for achieving Champions League football ….not too bad considering some of the bollocks written about him on here

Without much fanfare, he has defeated Ole/Ragnick and LegoPep. I said he would make the Spurs reach Top4 positions and he has delivered.

Probably would have got us top 4, but probably not what we want long term.

This is it. We played the short term game with Jose and it didn't help at all.

world class manager.. ridiculous some didnt rate and didnt want him at Manchester United.

The point is you don't know where we will be with ETH next year. And the point is with Conte we would have been top 4 this year, and he would have challenge for the title straight up next year.

If you don't see a huge difference in that, then i don't know. I don't give a horse .... about this project think, as i have listen long enough for this horse .... to have enough of it.

This thing is for small clubs. A world class manager need year or two, and then he start winning. Top 4 should never been the goal for our club, let alone next 3 years.

Without a doubt a top 3 manager as of now. I'd even put him above Guardiola if it wasn't for his dismal European record.

Well done to him.

Said in November that's top 4 gone to Spurs, 71 points and a large goal difference is a very good haul from where they were and I doubt could be caught even if we had a much better season, there's just too much gone wrong to even hang on. At our best last year with Cavani and Greenwood firing undefeated away it was 74 points with so many comebacks. People should respect the job he's done, he hasn't scraped over the line in 4th with 60 something points and has hammered a lot of the lower teams.

Top class manager, Son and Kane. So many writing him off after a bad result but I said once he gets a chance he won't let go.

That first paragraph is a great way to get me to not read the rest of your post. Such incredible hypocrisy.

As expected he came in and did what was demanded of him. Top 4 will definitely not be an easy task next year with Chelsea and Conte at Spurs.

The difference between being the CL and not be in it, it's huge.

So he’s searching for a place to stay long term, but so far hasn’t found anywhere he can last longer than three seasons, with two seasons being about the average.

He’s got a personality that will eventually wear down himself or everyone else around him and that would have absolutely continued at United. He’d get pissed off at the board, pissed off at the players and leave. Absolutely not the man needed for a complete top to bottom reset, which is clearly what we need.

He’d have got us top four this year - personally I think most half decent managers would have. Ole got us top four, Jose got us top four, Conte is not the man to rebuild a club.

Finally, Kane was good in the second half of the season, certainly nowhere near terrible. Spurs may have been 9th when Conte took over, but it’s not like Conte took the 9th best team in the league and made them the 4th best. They were in a false position.

He’s class. I’m glad with the way we (United) are going about things recently, but I think getting him when Ole was sacked would have meant we end up with CL football too. He’s that good.

But like I said, I’m glad we’re thinking longer term and have reset our strategy.

I genuinely think he has United DNA in him and I dont want to hear anything about "defensive football". His sides are compact, and devastating on the break. Wanted him when Ole was here. Shocking we didn't get him.

Done a great job for Spurs and they'd wise to back him this summer, otherwise he'll walk. They have a great opportunity with CL football and a great manager. I bet Levy won't though.
