It's all well and good this Ronaldo, just no one wants you
Would he still be pushing to leave if he didn't know of a club to take him?

I doubt he would myself, he's 100% got a club in mind. It will be either Atletico or one of the Milan clubs, I don't see anyone else taking him.

I don't think anyone really wants him in all honesty. He's banking on Atletico to free up enough funds to sign him, and if that doesn't happen, then he's going to be stuck at United. I really hope someone comes in and takes him though.

Agreed.
But, why did he come to us instead of MCFC? Did we offer bigger wages?
At MCFC, he'd probably score 30 league goals a season.
I'm quite sure he came because he thought it was possible for Utd to win the league last season. We had just finished 2nd and we brought in Sancho and Varane. If he was spearheading the attack of the 1st Man Utd team to win the PL post-SAF it would only add to his legacy and he also wouldn't have to deal with the backlash for being unloyal. I never for one second bought into this idealised notion that he actually loved Utd and would never join a rival. I think such a notion is very naive tbh and most top players don't actually care about this type of sentimental stuff except in the sense that they would prefer to avoid all the abuse they'll receive from fans.

I still really like Griezmann as a player and think he would suit us brilliantly but my god that deal would be a ball ache.
Do you watch Griezmann? Please explain to me how another second striker who plays off a main striker would be great for us, especially when he's visibly declining ?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Manchester United fans are just as bad as Woodward when it comes to squad building. Most ridiculous suggestions for transfers.

Instead of being a cu....

Think about how the loss of a child can trigger a lot of changes in your life. It's an immense life changing experience. But unless you've actually watched someone deliver a dead baby and held that baby and go back to a home without that baby, you will never know.
So only a team in the UCL will help his recovery? Makes sense.

Don't be obtuse for the sake of argument, especially with regards to the death of a child. Obviously people empathise with what Ronaldo and his family went through. That doesn't mean they can't also think Ronaldo has missed all of preseason because he wants to leave the club for footballing reasons.
Exactly. Nobody cheered when Ronaldo lost his baby. We all shared that pain. However, I have no doubt that Cristiano missed the preseason as he wanted to leave. There are numerous reports out there suggesting that his agent has been trying to move his client all summer. I'd rather he leaves asap, and we move on without him. I am sure ETH would not want to have a player who would rather be elsewhere.

All the club legends there to convince him to stay another season

Saw a tweet elsewhere saying we won't do anything big regarding another striker until the Ronaldo situation is clear.

I love the idea that 10 days before the first game that we're not sure, and will just frantically declare "start a striker search" last minute.
No chance.

Come on, you can't have a transfer window involving United without the club trying to bring in a popular yet past-it 30+ year old forward.

I don't necessarily believe that. I think we'd have some irons in the fire in case. Sesko had apparently talked with us, for example.

I mean... we're still actively pursuing Frenkie De Jong with no alternative

And if he's still set on joining Atlético? Not that much of a reach that Ronaldo still wants out which means we will need to bring someone in.

If we intend to keep him at all costs it means Ten Hag is either desperate to build the team around Ronaldo (I seriously doubt that)
OR
ETH is aware it'll be very difficult to get a striker this season. Although I don't think it would be that difficult unless we're thin on the money.

I does make sense from team morale point of view as well for financial aspectes (wages) to let him go.

I think he'll be gone end August.

Well the latest CR7 is 37, if people doesn’t think Pele was top 3 player at age 37, doesn’t mean they don’t admire Pele higher over his career.
Doesnt change the point that “inspiration” does not equal to “admiring more”.

My secondary school math teacher was an inspiration to me when I was younger, however I do not admire her as much compared to my previous job’s manager, because he is extremely good at his job and is a great leader.

The point is, unless Haaland comes out and says who he admires more, no one really knows. Not me, not you, so all we have are opinions, not facts (which by itself can change over time)

A cleaner is at least employed by the club. Unfortunately, Fergie no longer is. We've had 6 managers since him. It's weird that we still call him in to sort shit out. If we want to become a big club again we need to act like one.
He's on the United board.

Considering they are being offered by a cnut who sympathises more with Pogba's injuries than a man losing a child. I think I'll pass on those, but thanks for the offer.
This has zero to do with losing a child. It's actually quite strange that you think he's decided to leave United is because of that.

How would going to Chelsea or Bayern make him feel better? please explain that to me. Will the London shops make her feel better, or is she just a big fan of Oktoberfest?

He wants to play in the CL PURELY for his own personal gain. Nothing to do with his partner or her emotions.

When do you think we're likely to know the outcome of this meeting? (so whether he's definitely staying or definitely going) I guess it'll be decided today

Do they? Not many in here seem to.

Let's say, it is Atletico.

Maybe he wants to go back to Madrid, where his wife/partner lived before they met for other reasins. Or maybe it's her that wants to move closer to home as it were, maybe she needs that comfort of a support network of family and friends. Maybe he is just trying to do what he can to facilitate that.

Fact is, none of us know why. We just have people assuming it's all about him, his own personal quest for more glory and nothing about anything else.

Were do you play Griezmann, he excels as a second striker and not in any other role.
there were reports they would want to move griezmann out to make room for ronaldo. which may also help them avoid the obligation clause when they got griezmann on loan from barcelona, but I am not sure if that was already triggered.

Why did his agent offer him to Bayern and Chelsea? Fact is he's not arsed where he goes as long as they are in the CL and pay a decent wage

You can say what you want. But in general, most neutrals will say Messi is atleast the best of his generation. The only exceptions are people who are affiliated with United, Real, Juve and the Portuguese national team.

And I will concur with those neutrals. Its very rare to get a performance from Ronaldo even in his prime whereby other than goals you feel like "wow what a game from him!" And that is because Ronaldo's allround play is atleast 2 levels below Messi. Messi's playmaking, dribbling and the magic in his goals are far superior to anything the goalpoacher has produced at anytime in his career.
Alright that’s cool. I won’t derail this thread further.

You’re being naive to think he wants to leave Utd because of the death of his child and that’s why he missed pre-season as well.

Madrid wasn’t even his preferred destination. It’s been openly reported that his agent has been trying to manufacture a move for him to Bayern, Chelsea, Barca who have all come out and said they don’t want him. He wants to move for personal footballing reasons.

A hard working, versitile forward who presses well and is excellent at link up play and scores goals?

I think he would suit us a lot better than Ronaldo does currently.

Please God don’t beg him to stay
I’m sure they will come out with Ronaldo signs contract extension and commits to Utd for the next 2 years
He loves Utd and wants to help the team back to where it belongs
He has never asked to leave Utd
