Wages apparently around £85k/w (roughly €100k/w) + bonuses, so far he’s been earning around £30k/w as the base salary.

Look I don’t mind Dalot, he’s alright. But has he done enough to earn a 5 year extension and a 300% pay rise? I’m not sure.

This is the last salary increase we should be worried about… for a player like him, this is a good deal.

We have other salaries to worry about!

The fact that he can play both flanks is good. We want coverage but not necessarily a massive squad of specialist players. I'd be tempted to maybe sell Malacia, and sign someone like Pavard.

RB:AWB/Dalot/Pavard
RCB: Varane/Pavard
LCB: Martinez/Lindelof/Shaw
LB: Shaw/Dalot

7 players for 4 positions is fairly healthy in terms of keeping players happy for gametime but decent enough coverage. If you're unlucky enough to have 4 first team players out injured simultaneously that's where you need to be using your U21s anyway - i.e. like Rico Lewis at City.

I guess if he doesn’t mind being a backup, we’ve secured a squad player at full back for the next 5 years. As long as we follow this up by selling Wan Bissaka and bringing in a better right back, I’m fine with it.

I'm not sure what people are moaning about. Before the World Cup and his injury he was looking world class and formed a great back 4 with Varane and Licha, if he can hit those heights again he'd be a mainstay at RB, it's like you all got memory loss or something and are only seeing some of his performances in the latter half of the season, of which not a lot of squad members cover themselves in glory

News coming out is the club would consider bids for AWB so looks like that's the case. Makes sense to sell him and bring in Frimpong to compete with Dalot.

Who knows, he might be a late developer and become what Mourinho saw in him - "the best full-back in Europe in his age group." I'd say he has all the technical and physical tools to do that. It's all about confidence in attack and coaching when it comes to the defensive side of the game.

Was brilliant first half of the season. Was injured, then world cup and lost his place to a player who had a brilliant second half. That is just what we want.
Competition for places and players pushing each other.

Very happy with this. The guy has all the talent to become a top level full back and I'm glad ETH is here to nurture that.

“Playing for Manchester United is one of the highest honours that you can have in football.

“We have shared some fantastic moments over the past five years, and I’ve grown so much and my passion for this incredible club has only increased since the day that I joined.

“As a group of players, we all feel like we are at the start of a special journey right now.

“I can assure you that I will dedicate myself relentlessly to helping this group to achieve our aims and make the fans proud of this team.

“That drive continues this week with everyone intensely focused on preparations for the FA Cup final.”

Murtough:

“Diogo is an excellent defender, with a great combination of pace, strength and versatility. He has consistently developed, improving year-on-year since joining the club in 2018.

“Diogo’s work ethic and professionalism is superb; the way in which he prepares himself every day in order to perform at his highest level is exactly what we all want from a Manchester United player.

“Diogo has a strong mentality, high standards and a great personality, and we are delighted that he will remain an important member of the squad for the coming years.”

Not sure how I feel about this. He was good for a couple of months before the World Cup but his form absolutely tanked afterwards. I’ve also never really thought “wow this guy is great”. Seems with this and AWBs good form that we won’t be looking at a RB this window.

Looked very good in first part of the season so happy about that. I have a feeling AWB will be sacrificed if anything. But we might as well keep them for next season.

The reports have consistently been that AWB was available if someone puts in a sufficient bid, so I'd imagine it depends on someone doing that really.

Happy with that. I don't think we'll be signing a RB with the limited budget we have, AWB and Dalot rotating will do us just fine.

He looked good at the start of the season, but it was the first good spell he’s had since we signed him 5 years ago. Before you talk about memory loss, let’s look at the first 4 mediocre seasons!

One of them has to go, and AWB will raise the most cash so it makes sense. Dalot’s versatility also doesn’t hurt.

Nice. Glad to see players want to commit their future to the club. If he can get back to his pre world cup form, the one this is a very good renewal. Wan Bissaka and him offer something different from each other so I like our current situation of having both.

Same but then everyone seems to speak highly of him as a talent and a professional. I wonder if he’s expected to come good because of how he applies himself in training.

Good news! He's a talented RB, only just turned 24, is versatile and technically a very good player. Either his form goes back to the first half of the season where he's well on his way to being a long term starter, or he's just a very capable squad player, he's a good player to have around.

Good start to the season, then wasn’t great before losing his place to AWB. Wonder what the plan at right back is, to be honest.

Lots of people prefer AWB and that's quite understandable but Dalot's technical ability and versatility (left back and right back) probably means he's more of an EtH player. He can be a back up full back on both sides which is great. Worth noting his first half of the season was very good too before he started to be outshone by AWB.
