Just announced that he will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to resolve his ulcerative colitis condition.
Good luck Fletch.
Good luck Fletch.
Huh ? He wasn't even in contention in the summer and we still didn't buy one except Powell. All my love, kisses and etc to Fletcher. May you have a lovely, glorious post-playing life.
But we're a club that moves forward. So Fergie. No more excuses. We. Need. An. Energetic. Midfielder. Now.
Good timing!Has anyone heard any update on him lately? He's disappeared lately, and it would be nice to hear how he's getting along now.

Thanks, I guess. I just wanted to hear an update, and I guess I asked at the right time.Good timing!
The worst part is I for one am not bothered by it now, just a regular occurence on the caf. Can't see to understand why people need to bring it up over and over again. We get the fecking picture.
Every thread must be filed with a plea to sign midfielders. Pathetic.
feck off. No need for that in this thread. All my love, kisses and etc to Fletcher. May you have a lovely, glorious post-playing life.

You're fecked for life. My mum has it. Some days she can't move for the pain. Other days are like rampant diarrhoea twenty times a day. I'm surprised he came back at all.For anybody with any knowledge. In concern to his health which is obviously the most important thing at the moment, will this operation "cure" him or will the condition always require managing?
The condition will always require managing. Depends what operation he is getting he might be getting the large part of the bowel (inflamed part) removed and the smaller part attached straight to the his back passage. Then he will have to alter his diet and eat smaller meals more times a day. Plus with this condition certain vit uptake will suffer etc etc makes it very hard for him. It's a chronic condition managed by steroids and diet. When inflamed he can pass blood and feel like he needs to go to toilet and do a number 2. But problem being the more he goes the more inflamed his bowel lining becomes and the more he feels he needs to go to the toilet (although there is nothing in his bowel) It will make him exhausted and constantly drained. Hard condition to live with never mind be an athlete. Will never have the energy levels needed in my opinion to be the player he was (sad for him and us).For anybody with any knowledge. In concern to his health which is obviously the most important thing at the moment, will this operation "cure" him or will the condition always require managing?
He'll be better off than he is at the moment considering it keeps flaring up and it is affecting his life. But he won't be back to what he was before he got the condition. Also he may need a colostomy back initially (not always) not ideal for an athlete. Why is everyone writing him off? If the surgery is successful won't he be better off?
We seem to be back where I thought we were one year ago. The club and SAF are doing the whole paternalistic thing of standing by him, not writing him off, etc., which is great to see.Why is everyone writing him off? If the surgery is successful won't he be better off?
It's not tricky, you buy another player who can do what he does and keep him in the squad. If he recovers, great, we've got another option in CM, God knows we need one, if he doesn't, we're not short. The policy we're pursuing at the moment, relying on him as an important squad member even though he's clearly not been good enough since late 2010 is sentimental to the point of idiocy. It's a really tricky one with Fletcher. Fergie will want to be loyal, but how long do you give it if he's not showing any signs of getting close to the old level? You can't have passengers at this level, cripes even Scholes and Giggs are attracting loads and loads of moans, and Fletcher doesn't have their pedigree to fall back on.
I think we'll have a decision in the summer. Either decide whether he'll get to full capacity, or a parting of the ways.
Once you start limiting who a player can play against the end is in sight.
Not being able to play on heavy pitches would rule half the season out!
Don't think Sir Alex feels there is a desperate need for a replacement. Or else he would have bought one in already in the summer.I reckon the players would also rather have it this way and pull through as a team than get into a panic over the need for a replacement. If it were them they wouldn't want it any other way.
