I'm sure he can but its difficult to tailor for 'overweight, big mac churning mango despot'. Far more flattering for him to go for ill-fitting, oversized suits.

That is an argument for the DA to simply refuse the bond. The fact that Trump is not putting forward his own money after quite a generous decision means that the cnut is mocking the law.

As soon as Trump was indicted under the Espionage Act, he should have been thrown straight to jail pending trial like the many others who were indicted on similar charges.

It's the trickle-down effect. As much as that term is totally wrong in economics, it applies in other domains. If the Attorney General at the top is not an aggressive person on the job, you can be sure that judges will not be inclined to be more ruthless in their rulings. It's not only in Florida; it's in every single jurisdiction in which Trump is currently facing an indictment.
I'm not against detention either, I'm just saying you are picking on the wrong person, the politicans write the laws, they could mandate dention for any crime they choose, but don't, the judiciary have a lot of sway in what the choose dention wise, they are the ones to blame

This feels like a technicality to me. As distatesful as it is, the bond should hold. Now there's something glorious about who is issuing it, how they became rich and what that should say to Trump's 'supporters' but that's the kind of cognitive connections we can't expect out of the GOP.
The most worrying thing is all of them smiles in the same way. Only upper teeth are visible.

No, it should be treated like a non-payment violation. Swindling the authorities is also a crime.

What do New York State laws say about the penalty for swindling? That is basically what Trump just did through such a shady attempt at posting a bond.

It's not a technicality. These companies are licensed and regulated to avoid money laundering and influence peddling, among other things. This isn't a surety company so it's basically just some random fool saying he will cover the $175 million, but getting it out of him would be different than getting it from a legit company. They also didn't file all the paperwork, didn't show where their money was (he tried to list assets and property), didn't sign things, the whole document is a mess. This bond should be rejected and it will be just as if Trump posted no bond at all.

It's more like Trump's guarantor wrote a bad cheque. This compounds his problems. He was given a 10 day extension to post bond for the reduced amount - and he didn't. So the next step is moving to seize assets, putting liens on properties, and the like. There is no delay, and no additional time is being afforded him (as of now anyway).
Ah, feck.
Does it matter? The "judges" decide what the law is on any given day, and they have decided that Trump is untouchable.
