Despite starting with 6 clean sheets when moving to Chelsea having faced no shots, he’s beginning to look pretty average and at times a bit lost.

Still think this?Of course we are, the penalty conceded tonight notwithstanding. He's an absolutely colossal upgrade over Kepa and the calming effect he's had on the whole defense cannot be understated.
You think he's not been an huge upgrade on Kepa?Still think this?
It looks less so every week. You think he's not been an huge upgrade on Kepa?
I think you 've forgotten how bad our defence was last season! It looks less so every week.
But he's certainly no calming influence that the other poster alludes to!
A training cone would be an upgrade on Kepa. I dont think he's a long term answer though. Give it 12 months and you could be looking for an upgrade again. You think he's not been an huge upgrade on Kepa?
To be fair, putting Kante in net would be a huge upgrade on Kepa. But Mendy certainly doesn’t look like a long term solution to take Chelsea places. You think he's not been an huge upgrade on Kepa?
He is 28, I'm not sure if you want a player to be promising at this stage of his career.Looks a promising player to me
He's a few years older than I thought, but he seems a good player to me.He is 28, I'm not sure if you want a player to be promising at this stage of his career.
Is this a joke? He's been excellent. His distribution today was absolutely top notch. He's not to blame for Kante not tracking a runner whilst Christensen lies on the floor like a fanny.Still think this?
He looks okay but nothing more. Still appears to have a howler in him but is an upgrade on Kepa at least. He is 28, I'm not sure if you want a player to be promising at this stage of his career.
@duffer do you think he's been "excellent?"Is this a joke? He's been excellent. His distribution today was absolutely top notch. He's not to blame for Kante not tracking a runner whilst Christensen lies on the floor like a fanny.
It's also not a coincidence that we are now very good at defending set pieces; he's extremely proactive as opposed to Kepa.
They should be all over that. Hope they don’t get him.He looks okay but nothing more. Still appears to have a howler in him but is an upgrade on Kepa at least.
Stop gap keeper. Would Chelsea not be interested in Donnarumma in January?
They can't keep buying keeper after keeper, surely? They should be all over that. Hope they don’t get him.
If you had this dude Mendy as your number one and Donnarruma is going on a free transfer your telling me you wouldn’t be interested? They can't keep buying keeper after keeper, surely?
He's born and raised in France, never having spent a single second in any African team's developmental system.Africa just dont seem to produce top quality keepers.
Mendy aint one for sure

Mendy is better than Donnarumma right now - whether Donnarumma would surpass him once he's 28 is a different discussion. They should be all over that. Hope they don’t get him.
Carlos Kameni was a great keeper who didn't get the recognition he deserved.Africa just dont seem to produce top quality keepers.
Mendy aint one for sure
I've not seen much of Donnarumma lately but thought he was supposed to be a world class talent?Mendy is better than Donnarumma right now - whether Donnarumma would surpass him once he's 28 is a different discussion.
He's extending with Milan anyhow and frankly I'd prefer to not go near any Raiola clients with the exception of Haaland. Haaland is worth dealing with Raiola, Donnarumma just isn't.
Don't get me wrong, Donnarumma is an outstanding player and is absolutely the best goalkeeper of his age in Europe by some distance, but he still has mistakes in him. I think he'd likely be a better goalkeeper at age 28 than Mendy is, but if my life depends on a match outcome tomorrow I'd take Mendy. Mendy had the 9th best save percentage of any keeper in the top 5 leagues in Europe last season; he really is a top tier player.I've not seen much of Donnarumma lately but thought he was supposed to be a world class talent?
Mendy isn't WC and never will be. Unless Donnarumma has regressed surely he'd be worth looking at for free and getting rid of Kepa?
Sorry I don't see Mendy as a top tier/elite level goalkeeper.Don't get me wrong, Donnarumma is an outstanding player and is absolutely the best goalkeeper of his age in Europe by some distance, but he still has mistakes in him. The issue with signing Donnarumma is that he'll demand probably the most expensive contract ever for a goalkeeper plus a hefty signing on bonus and agents' fee. I'd rather not bother to be honest - Mendy is more than good enough for the immediate future and as such our resources could be better allocated elsewhere (Haaland and/or Rice, in particular).
I think it's fair to question whether his level that he showed last year is sustainable but on that basis he absolutely was an elite tier goalkeeper. Like I said, he was 9th among all top 5 league goalkeepers in save percentage last season and given his height and proactivity he's among the best at cross collection. He's done nothing at Chelsea to suggest that was a fluke - if anything he's been even better than he was last year.Sorry I don't see Mendy as a top tier/elite level goalkeeper.
You see him more than me mate so fair enough. He always seems to have a bit of a mistake when I watch him although that's only now and again. I might just catch him at the worst times!I think it's fair to question whether his level that he showed last year is sustainable but on that basis he absolutely was an elite tier goalkeeper. Fair enough! I just think that he's had such a positive influence on our defence coming good, far more so than Silva even. I'm more than happy with him and there are definitely other areas of the squad (stroke dugout) I'd prioritise in terms of upgrades. You see him more than me mate so fair enough. Which then makes it a huge huge improvement on Kepa who would dive over it or push it into his own netDecent keeper, nothing special. Seems to push away or parry a lot of balls you’d expect a top keeper to catch.
He does do that, and French journos on twitter mentioned that as one of his negatives when we were first linked with him.Decent keeper, nothing special. Seems to push away or parry a lot of balls you’d expect a top keeper to catch.

It's less of a pressing need and moreso that Haaland is a generational player who is worth breaking the bank for. There have been reports that we're going to try to sign him in January, though I'll believe that when I see it.Wait Chelsea need another striker?
well that's fair enough, but that side has a good amount of top strikers alreadyIt's less of a pressing need and moreso that Haaland is a generational player who is worth breaking the bank for. Giroud isn't getting any younger and Tammy is likely a limited player - good enough for the PL but not if you want to challenge for the big honours. Haaland changes all of that.well that's fair enough, but that side has a good amount of top strikers already
