The English will be easy to wind up. Time for your players to relive long throws.

How many Icelandic players will be suspended. I think there are 2 or 3.

If we play two strikers it has to be in a diamond up top, shunting Sturridge or Vardy out wide would be a mistake

Please Roy for once get your fecking tactics right

Well whiteout a doubt Iceland have the better players but I have a sneaky feeling England might cause an upset....

Here's hoping Iceland batter England.

I'm usually keen to see England do well, but an Icelandic fairytale (or should I say saga?) would be absolutely brilliant :)

We'll need an early goal.

Should be starting this one with a front 3 of Rashford - Sturridge - Vardy and be pressing like hell from the front.

It'll be the usual suspects of Sterling - Kane - Lallana though and they'll spend too long fannying around in no space.

We'll struggle to break them down. Will go to extra time or penalties.

Have Iceland in work sweepstakes so watched them a good bit, they've been surprisingly good. Left Winger is a decent player, Bjarnasson i think it was?
They have enough quality spread around the field and in important positions to cause another upset or two.
Those that aren't very good, work like dogs and know their jobs.
It'll be a tough match.

I think you'll scrape a win against them despite that. Portugal had enough chances to bury them and have looked weak defensively
You'll be harder to get a goal against and they'll cough up a few chances. Their keeper looks very out of his depth.

No stupid Brexit puns in here yet? Well, I'll start and vote LEAVE, although remain is likely to win. Hahaha...haa:(

Very impressed and happy for Iceland. They have nothing to lose, which might help them. If they are able to shut down Englands attack the first 20-30min, the psychology of the game can become tricky for England.

And the KO are a tricky format, an unlucky bounce can be decisive.

This is the perfect tie for Iceland, they have nothing to lose, and if they can match their performances in their group matches, it could be a very close contest.

Don't really care that much for either national side, but I'd like an 89th minute Rashford winner after a mazy run just to see everyone's reaction

Rumours of a Kane Lallana Sturridge frontline. Would rather sturridge up top by himself or at least in a two upfront.
Need to put Sturridge up top or on the bench cant stand this shunting of players

This is going to be a dreadful match. England will have 117% of the possession but be unable to break Iceland's defence down.

Will be a lot less Icelandic supporters. Not a huge amount that bought the follow your team ticket and Nice has a small stadium so we're looking at about 3% instead of the previous 8%. Not for the lack of wanting. Expect the English crowd to be more than half the stadium with the rest divided between Icelanders and neutrals.

I strongly believe that virtually all neutrals will be rooting for you guys. You would have to be heartless to cheer against Iceland. You are easily the most likeable team at the tournament and everybody in Poland loves your story.

Looks like we're starting Sterling on the left with Sturridge on the right and Kane through the middle. The rest as expected (per Russia and Wales games).

Not sure what I make of that.

I think Woy would play Vardy wide and somehow include Sterling and Kane in starting line up and make things difficult in the R16 match.

Sterling back in for Lallana (injured?). Needs to put in a performance tonight.

Good team but I'd have Vardy for Sterling.

Vardy would be useless against Iceland's deep line, IMO. In saying that Sterling is just useless against anyone so maybe you're right.

What day will the winner play France, anyone?

FFS England have only won 6 games in the knockout stages of any competition since 1966 !!!

3-0 v Paraguay, 1986 World Cup
1-0 v Belgium AET, 1990 World Cup
3-2 v Cameroon AET, 1990 World Cup
0-0 v Spain (4-2 on pens), 1996 Euros
3-0 v Denmark, 2002 World Cup
1-0 v Ecuador, 2006 World Cup

Now that is a shocking record.

Lets see. I'd take Rashford wide over Sterling too!

3rd July 8pm KO vs France.

Pains me to see Rashford on the bench with Kane and Vardy ahead of him in the pickings. Plain as day to anyone that he has more ability and more nuance in the toenail of his small toe on his left foot than them two put together.

My first reaction was that Iceland don't stand a chance. I've changed my opinion and reckon that Iceland may beat England today.

It's the football version of "300"

I'm fully expecting England to struggle, and I might even put some money on Iceland to go through.
