Anything over 200 against a batting line up with Simpson and Gregory at six and seven I would've fancied Pakistan.

It'll take some players to outdo themselves a bit to get there now though.

141 all out. Terrible batting, some of the shots were absolutely amateurish. Mahmood was very good. England should win comfortably.

Pretty embarrassing. Hope Pakistan improve in the next match.

Both teams unchanged. Pakistan have put England in. Currently working on 47 overs a side.

Good fight back from England after the early wickets. Pakistan need to break this partnership.

Just need Stokes now and Pakistan are well in control.

Great to see Hasan Ali return to form after struggling a couple of years. Excellent bowling.

Some positives for England. Salt and Vince had Pakistan worried at one point and now Gregory and Carse are showing some grit.

EDIT - 247. Very happy with that. Would expect Pakistan to get them easily enough but early wickets would make it interesting.

Babar taking Hasan off in the middle overs was a poor decision, should’ve bowled him out & maybe could’ve restricted England closer to 200.

Fakhar 8 off 39 balls..... what is he playing at? He needs to stay long and turn that to something like 80 off 90 to make this a decent match.

Fakhar needs to get going, this innings isn’t doing anything & is not his game.

Pakistan are stuck in the 90s with their batting approach. Far too many dot balls being allowed, at the very least they should be taking singles & putting pressure back on the bowlers. Far too passive in the batting.

First time seeing Simpson, very impressed with how he’s played.
He's a good keeper but nowhere near good enough with the bat for international cricket.

Yeah showing the value of having a specialist glovesman. Feels like it's worth taking an extra wicket per match.

England are so stocked with all rounders I think they could get away with 6 bowling options, 1 specialist WK, and four batsmen in white ball cricket (example for demonstrative purposes only: Roy, Buttler, Bairstow, Morgan, Stokes, Ali/Livingstone, S. Curran, Simpson/Foakes, Woakes, Rashid, Wood). Its old school tactics, but I'm sure like most tactics it will come back in vogue at some point. Maybe it's something we'll see more of in the hundred, as the extra batting depth would presumably be less necessary in an even shorter format.

To be fair the run rate has not got out of control, it is just the regular wickets that killed the game. If there were still 5 wickets down same runs, Pakistan would be favourites.

Credit to England for these performances given the circumstances. Mahmood has really impressed me.

The less said about Pakistan, the better. Very disappointed, but not surprised by how they’ve played.

Yeah, it was pretty harsh on him not being in original squad. I think most people expect him to play quite a bit for England if he stays fit.

He’s been very good, makes you wander why they picked James Bracey in the NZ tests.
They picked him as a batsman in fairness and the Foakes’ injury changed factors.

Personally Simpson seems a good keeper but he’s nowhere near international quality with the bat and that is still needed given the way England generally bat.

Yeah with Buttler, Bairstow and Foakes all in the queue ahead of him you'd imagine his chances will be limited.

Can't see specialist keepers coming back into fashion any time soon.

A couple of teenagers have been having good days with the ball in the Kent V Sussex game
Jas Singh for Kent 4/51
Jamie Atkins for Sussex 4/27

Babar came to play today
Yeah, was careful to get himself in and then has just been dominant since he got to 50.

My predictions aren't going very well this series but this should be too many for England, even on a flat pitch.

Finally a decent score from the batsmen. Excellent from Babar & good to see Rizwan get some runs ahead of the T20 series.

Looks a very good pitch. I think Pakistan are actually about 15-20 runs short but it will be a tough chase. If England had the normal team, I’d back them to chase it down.

Filthy fiver in the end for Carse. Decent score as it should be too much for England's batting line up here

Baber was terrific
