Rohit is a solid captain. Has won multiple IPL so obviously knows how to perform in pressure situation. Hopefully it will continue in T20 world cup. But England were missing a lot of key players so don't know.

Red Card for Casemiro!
Good win, but the fall of Kohli is very painful to watch. On course to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time before the pandemic, to a point where dropping him doesn't seem like an unreasonable idea anymore.

Rooney-esque. Without any silverware.

Wood would play but he is injured. Stokes would come back in as well but otherwise England are having to try to find a new attack which works.
Wood and Stokes usually in this format.
Wood will be a good addition for sure. Stokes not too sure if he will offer much difference. But he will definitely improve the side, no doubt.

We are only missing Stokes, Bairstow and Rashid so irrespective of that, the performances in this last 2 matches have been poor.

Willey looks like he will play so for the other spot hopefully Gleason can play himself in otherwise we would go with Mills but he has been hit and miss. The batting hasn’t gone well in these matches though.

No chance Hales comes back. That ship is long sailed.

Root should be well ahead of Stokes in the list of players to bring in.
Stokes will get in ahead of Root. England need his experience and there’s too many right handers as it is.

the problem is none of them are prepared to build an innings, they just want to hit every ball to the boundary like it’s a test match,

Doesn't Woakes sometimes play T20s as well?

Somerset scored a record total of 265 with one guy conceding 16 runs from 4 overs. So 249 runs from the other 16 overs.

Some hitting. Missed most of it but seen the guy who hit 30 odd of about 2 balls

Stokes is not competing with Root. He is an automatic selection. Root will probably compete for Malian’s position. Probably looking at something like this:

Buttler
Roy
Malan / Root
Bairstow
Stokes
Livingstone
Ali
Jordan
Willey / Sam Curran
Rashid
Wood / Mills

If Brook impresses you could move Bairstow to 3 and play him at 6. The bowling lineup could definitly change.

How long is Archer out for?

Can't see Root suddenly coming back in to the T20 side. I'd bat Stokes at 3...

Roy
Buttler
Stokes
Bairstow
Livingstone
Brook
Ali
Jordan
Rashid
Archer
Wood

Archer is out for a considerable while, no way he makes that team. Yep would go with the above but probably someone for Archer as he won’t be fit.

I’m not his biggest fan but that was a great knock by Malan. If the pitch is flat, he can just bully an opponent. Helps that this isn’t India’s best set of bowlers but they are still quality.

Rashid, Archer, Wood, Jordan and a bit of Livingstone/Ali/Stokes depending on the lineup would be England's best bet. So this is quite far off an optimal bowling lineup.

I like this lineup, I'd just have Malan instead of Brook as I don't want to keep beating that drum again..but he's the man that keeps performing whereas Brook is an unknown. Put him at 3, there's no issue with Stokes at 4.

If Archer and Wood don't make it which is always a danger then we can go for Mills for pace, and whichever other pace bowler impresses.

However this is as we stand, things could develop.

The reserves didn't look anywhere near ready for us. Hope there is no injury issue during T20 world cup.

Dom Sibley is looking to impress currently 41 off 32 and his opening partner is 1 off 23
More of that please, you don't need to be a world beater to open for England at the moment. Good aggression and a half decent average should get you there eventually.
