Don't be naive, man. They are spending fortune on PR stuff. Same as Russia.
They bombed youtube with stuff about their singer with inviting people to vote for them. And it is not even a secret.

Croatian page but tweets are on English.

I'm sure other countries do PR stuff as well in order to get people to vote for them. I'm pretty sure Israel has done it in the past as well - without a war going on.

And I don't see how those tweet make it specifically a govenment advertisement.

Btw; how come Ireland sent that song/performer? Isn't Ireland pure Catholic country? Was there outrage or something when she won?

What? It is genuine question. Look at outrage in some countries because of her.
Sorry, it’s just genuinely funny to see that foreigners still have this idea of Ireland.

France's entry. Just, wow. Fecking incredible.

My favourite entries are (in no particular order):

Croatia
France
Netherlands (R.I.P. - fecking robbed)
Switzerland
Estonia (it's amazing, imo)
Agreed with thoughts on France song. In my eyes, should have won based off that acapella bit alone. Phenomenal talent.

Also, seems you’re the only one who I’ve seen who liked the Estonia song. I think it’s catchy as feck. Got it booming on my Spotify right now.

PR is part of any war nowadays, that's not new. And there's nothing in these - older - links regarding wasting time and money over the fecking Eurovision.
Did you actually read the articles?

It's not PR - it's malicious misinformation on an industrial scale.

This is what people are saying to you. The country itself has a very long and detailed history of this kind of manipulation.

Whatever.

Nothing there about something silly like the Eurovision. People really need to chill a little about a song contest.

You asked if Ireland was a pure Catholic country. Look up the history of Catholics and Protestants in Ireland and you'll see why that generated laughter.

Is queer another word that has lost its meaning?
Queer is a label that has morphed over the last 20-25 years. In the 90s, everyone I knew that used "queer", used it as sort of a catch-all label for both (and just) gay and lesbian. The word has evolved though into something even more general because people use it now not just in relation to sexuality but gender. This is probably a good current definition for queer now:

Queer is a word that describes sexual and gender identities other than straight and cisgender. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people may all identify with the word queer. Queer is sometimes used to express that sexuality and gender can be complicated, change over time, and might not fit neatly into either/or identities, like male or female, gay or straight.

15-20 years ago i read a stat how Ireland is the most Catholic country in Europe with over 90% of Catholics. And that info stayed in my head.
My bad, should know better about how things can change in one, two ....20 years  .

I liked France's entry the first time I heard. I LOVED it in the final. It's such a beautiful song and performed exceptionally well.

Estonia's song is an absolute fecking banger. It didn't do as well as I had hoped, which is a shame. It's such a fun song.

Yeah, France maybe did bad job in promoting their song before Eurovision because song and performance were excellent. That was potential winner with better PR.

This is a Eurovision thread.

There's no evidence there about the Eurovision.

Therefore, that is my response.
We've shared evidence. One example in this thread was that there was a massive, massive campaign in 15 countries to run non stop YouTube ads telling people to vote for their song.

Then we have the weight of historical evidence of how Israel leverage internet operations to their cause, including multiple examples right now in relation to Gaza.

You're being very naive. And if you still disagree, I'd say give it a few weeks and we'll have plenty more evidence.

I didn't watch it liv but have followed the aftermath in amazement, comments like "Gayfest" seemed appropriate from the UK and some other entries, I was then told to watch the Finland entry, some quite good camera work, use of smoke and other things used to hide one performer with his c*ck hanging out.
I was under the impression that as it started at 8pm, it was family entertainment, not a soft porn thing.

He wasn't naked mate. All of that was to make it appear as if he was naked as a joke. No one had their cock out ffs.

TBH I didn't watch it all.
I've never been a fan of the contest, but had to suffer it with various females (Mum, Girlfriends, Wife) who seemed to like it for some reason.

I'm not doubting the facts, just the connection between the two. Israel does use the internet for its purposes, and a there was a campaign to get people to vote for the Israeli song (just like there have been for different countries and songs for years).

I'm simply saying that the campaign might have been driven by Israelis in Israel or the world, or jewish people. I doubt Israel itself bothered with that.

Lots of non females on here who would love to watch it with you. Maybe the Cafe can organize a watch party for the next one.

Aaaaah, that. Sorry, we do  .
I park my Donkey at the airport when I'm flying out of Dublin. Takes me 4 days to get the 49 miles to the airport on the little dirt roads we have. Only got electricity 9 years ago and these new DVD players are amazing things.

I boycotted Eurovision this year

Then again I've been boycotting the event since the 70's

Mate, it says that the Israeli state ran that massive YouTube campaign on the campaign info.

And there is absolutely no comparison of the vastness of this campaign to anything that has preceded it over the years. As I keep saying, this was industrial scale.

Didnt watch this thing for ages. Watched it this year cause our candidate Babny lasagna was a hit. He was a favourite according to polls and his both performances were very strong, it was as if he had a concert. It was disappointing Switzerland won but unfortunately Eurovision is not about songs and performers anymore but other things. Cause Italian, French and Croatian songs were all better then a Suisse one. It's so silly EBU is all about no politics in Eurovision while certain agendas and policies are pushed every year there. I heard they banned European flag there this year.
Anyway although he didnt won Marko aka Baby Lasagna did a great thing nevertheless, wrote his own song, was helped by his fiance and his friends with the whole thing, didnt need a group of 50 people to make a song and the song and apparel he uses (tabletić) is all over the country. Fantastic things are happening for him.

Estonia was great, they missed a massive opportunity with the staging though, it wasn’t memorable at all. Needed some midgets or fireworks.
