This thread (and affair) is a cesspool.
It wouldn't really have been an issue what so ever had he apologized after the match and explained it from his cultural point of view. But he's just simply not that kind of person. There's literally a list of shitty things he's done on the pitch and with this supposed "defense" of Suarez, headbutting a ref was just added to it.This would all make sense if he ever apologized, came clean about what he really said and hadn't been involved in trying to cover it all up.
Yes it would have, given the report found he said "I kicked you because you are black", "I don't talk to blacks" and "Okay blackie blackie blackie".It wouldn't really have been an issue what so ever had he apologized after the match and explained it from his cultural point of view. Indeed. I don't know why people even consider the possibility of him not intending to insult Evra with some cultural differences bollocks. What he said is offensive in every single culture. Victim my arse. I hope someone breaks this cnut's legs so he can't play football anymore and say it's a sign of endearment in their country.Yes it would have, given the report found he said "I kicked you because you are black", "I don't talk to blacks" and "Okay blackie blackie blackie".
These facts seem to have been completely lost to the ether for the sake of the 'cultural differences' argument.Yes it would have, given the report found he said "I kicked you because you are black", "I don't talk to blacks" and "Okay blackie blackie blackie".
yeah the argument was shifted slightly to debate whether the word was racist. when really as with the use of the word black in english it isnt. but in context it is. seems to have been forgotten by some that suarez was using the word to insult evra. repeatedly. These facts seem to have been completely lost to the ether for the sake of the 'cultural differences' argument.
Suarez (family) speaks! Is that interview a sun exclusive?
That should go down well...Is that interview a sun exclusive?
You what?First, he offended Patrice Evra. That can perhaps be explained, even justified by the heat of the moment.
He's being diplomatic. He qualifies it and says he should say sorry. You what?
good piece JoInteresting write-up from Michel Salgado on the topic
Exclusive: Salgado on Suarez, Evra, Terry, Capello and racism - FourFourTwo's Inside Track - FourFourTwo
Is he being serious?‘The McGrath thing … that’s actually racist. Saying what he said is racist. He is only saying that to me because I was the only black lad wearing the T-shirt. He’s targeting me because of my colour.'
I have a video response to that:‘He’s following Luis with his eyes as if to say: “Right he’s gone, he’s gone (past me) so I’ll pull him back now…” Evra probably stayed up all night thinking about how to do that. The whole thing was ridiculous.’
By all accounts he was twice the defender you'll ever be.I haven’t spoken to Paul McGrath about it. I don’t care what he thinks, really. I don’t know anything about him. But for someone to say that, it sums them up. It’s their problem.
He must be completely ignorant of the fact the words were used in a derogative manner by the racist cnut, it was not like they were having a laugh and joking with each other.‘I can’t understand how people don’t get that in his culture the word “negro” or “negrito” is genuinely normal. Just because he’s out of his country he is not going to stop using his mother tongue. If we went to another country, we would use our slang, wouldn’t we? I can’t see why somebody can get in trouble for using his culture in another country.
...the 27–year-old nevertheless spoke openly, intelligently and at length about the Suarez issue...
plus the whole interview."As for the rugby guy… well, that was really intelligent wasn’t it? I don’t know who this geezer is either. He should stick to playing rugby"
He may have been asked about it in the interview, but he should have just refused to comment on it. Everything was buried when the clubs made their statements, and bringing it up again really won't help matters. Fortunately from Liverpool's point of view I don't think that will be made a huge deal out of it, though it should be.Why on earth has this been brought up again? To be honest, I don't really mind, as it only puts Liverpool in a worse light, I just cannot fathom why he's chosen to bring something like this up.
It says why in the report... continually changing statements from Suarez and Kuyt/Comolli's evidence supporting Evra's version of events rather than Suarez's is a start.‘The evidence was Luis’s word against Evra’s,’ argued Johnson. ‘I’m not saying Evra is lying but it’s his word against Luis’s, isn’t it? So how did it all turn out to be so strong in Evra’s favour?
"So, can you give us your view on the Suarez affair/handshake?"He may have been asked about it in the interview, but he should have just refused to comment on it. 115 page report and from that he clearly didn't bother to read it or has but is choosing to stick by Suarez.
Yep, that's exactly what he's said and on RAWK a few people are rightly saying he shouldn't have said that but a few seem very pleased and don't care about the potential ramifications for Liverpool as Johnson has 'exposed' Evra as a liar - somehow."So, can you give us your view on the Suarez affair/handshake?"
"To be honest I'd rather not talk about it/I don't really have anything to say on the matter that hasn't already been said before/I'm not going to risk getting myself into trouble."
It's honestly like a spoof article. It really doesn't sound genuine. Just read it again, but imagine that it is a made up article.
By all accounts he was twice the defender you'll ever be.
Couldn't put it better than that..I would ask Glen Johnson something, if Suarez didn't shake Evra's hand because he didn't stick his hand out far enough, why did he make an attempt to shake Rio Ferdinand's hand when he didn't stick his hand out at all?
Anyway, Johnson is really being an idiot here. After Suarez apologizes for not shaking Evra's hand and the whole thing seems to be quieting down, he comes out with this. Also, his comments on Paul McGrath are stupid and disrespectful.
