Interesting idea.
I’m not entirely sure. He created the channel because of the ‘gap in the market’ and does support the team. I think he also supports Forest so not sure how that bodes with other fans.
To change your name and create a completely different persona doesn’t look great in terms of proving your not a ‘fake fan’ but if you watch him he does support the club like any other fan.
I don’t watch much of him as his videos get repetitive and quite frankly boring but he knows how to act in front of an audience so have to give him credit for that.
He has said on the channel that the Forest rumour was created by other rival channels (presumably Howson at Full Time Devils) to discredit their channel. He has also said multiple times he started supporting United because of his Grandad who passed away. Not sure how true any of that is, but it is interesting to note that United Stand, AFTV and other some Liverpool channels (Redmen TV or something named similar?) have collaborated but the two main United fan channels have never done so as far as I know. So there definitely appears to be some genuine dislike between the two sets of channels.
Regarding the name, he has already addressed that multiple times. He did it because he used to work in the police force. His real name is Brent. He could be lying of course, but the company is registered under his real name.
I agree with your last point too. The channel gets pretty boring during transfer season in particular, where it regurgitates the same news to "discuss news" and obviously that news is mostly trash because all the main journalists like Romano and co constantly rewrite and republish stuff.
I generally do not have a problem with Romano or fan channels milking it. For sports journalists, it is partly their job. It is also clear that a lot of them do have genuine sources. I also do not have a problem with fan channels. They can be good for entertainment (e.g. AFTV after a loss) and if fans do not like it then the solution is simple - don't watch it.
