Did they frag the match engine? Just installed the update and started a new save at Utd. First game is again Liverpool and in minute 3 Dalot tried a backheel pass in the box that went right to Mane for a tap in. 5 minutes later Robertson did the exact same thing to Greenwood for a tap in. I have never seen that type of goal in over 300 hours of FM22 and 2 in 5 minutes???

Yeah it’s called the Bailly/Rojo patch.

Arandina FC update…

After a torrid summer, we went a bit mad on final day and took advantage of clubs looking to get players somewhere to play. We got two decent youngsters for free off Barcelona (who refused to give us anyone as our feeder before then), we have have at least a player to compete at WB. We also got a decent looking CB on loan from Valencia and a decent looking young striker from Deportivo.

When I say decent, I really do mean decent, there are no stars on this team!

Despite that, none were interested before August 31st so am delighted we can actually field a full bench now!

We have a very young team, all showing that they might be good enough for the Second Division at some point in the future. We brought in some English chaps on frees too, but none look to be good enough now they are here.

I would hope we have enough to avoid the drop now, but 52k a week wage budget in the Second Division is madness and looking at the likes of Malaga, Zaragoza and Oviedo, we could be in over our heads.

Newcastle were relegated again in my save. They've just become a Norwich. Haven't really spent too much money either. Pretty weird.

They’d done pretty awful in my save when I took over. I sold most of the squad and only really kept Martinelli and Hudson-Odoi. I’ve won the league my first year at every club I’ve been at so far with exception of my first ever role where I took over mid season, but won’t be happening with Newcastle. Prem is a harder but to crack.

Getting there with my tactics though. I think I had us playing the wrong style of football for the players in the squad.

If you can get the right players in, it is the sort of team you can turn around in 2-3 seasons and leave you set up to dominate.

Think I need to reconfigure my scouts. They're bringing me £70m players when we get a budget of about £1-2m atm.

Lost our 2 best strikers in the summer, one of them was on deadline day as well. Ended up having to take a punt on a guy with barely anything scouted, was pretty disappointed when he turned out to have 10 acceleration and 11 pace. Been using him as a DLP on support and changed our IF and Winger to attack, it's been working well this season after we got our midfield 3 balance right. Unbeaten in all competitions so far.

Kept Ronaldo Tavares around because he's a year aware from being able to get citizenship to Liechtenstein. Might be useful to the national team, which I was hoping to become manager of but the current guy seems unsackable.

Are Spurs really bad on anyone else's saves? They sacked Conte in November and have had the head of youth development as caretaker manager for ages. They're a point above the relegation zone.

It annoys me in the game too when you join a club and they've sold one of their best players. Sorry but there is no way that City would sell Foden, especially for 50m to Arsenal after 2 seasons in the game. :wenger:

Bit bored of my Journeyman save anyway. Going to start the classic bottom to top save in England with the closest team to my house - Dulwich Hamlet, come on lads.

In 2025 so far, no trophies and they’ve sacked Conte, Bielsa, Mancini. Tuchel in charge now and they’re 6th

I hate the locked in promises. Zielinski who has played as a Mezzala for 4 seasons and done extremely well, he's pretty much untouchable Well for his new contract he won't budge from wanting to play as a centre midfielder role. I don't play that role, don't think I ever have. I'm letting him go on a free to Arsenal where he will probably play left wing or something.

CM on attack is one of my favourite roles, but yeah some of the locked in stuff is a bit daft.

A strong end to the season has seen me in 5th with an outside chance of CL. I was chasing Chelsea but they pulled away, however Utd have fallen into 4th. They've just lost their last two games (one to Arsenal which annoyingly saved them from relegation, but still). There's now just a point between us. I play Palace and Leeds in the last two games, they play Everton and City.

Finished my first season with Wolves in 14th in the prem. Had a good start and a decent enough finish to the season, but the middle third I had a 10 game run where I drew 1 game and lost the other 9. Was brutal.

Good cup run though and won the FA Cup! So I'll take that. Good young squad, had like 7 players pop up in the NxGN top 50, and 4 of them were in the top 10 alone. Struggling to find a good DM and right back though. Rest of the squad has decent quality and depth everywhere, while my best and only right back is Brandon Williams.

Finished 3rd

Miles off the top two but if I make the right signings (especially with CL football to offer) I can challenge next season.

I signed Demir on my save and he wanted to play as an AM when I don’t do it but still signed him to play on the right and he’s not kicked off tbf, but yeah, it’s annoying.

I signed Willy Kambwala in January and he did really well for me. We qualify for the CL and everything's great.

Nope. He's mad I didn't play him as a central defender (played him as BPD) and he's handed in a transfer request.

Joke of a game at times.

Can anyone recommend to me a good 3 striker tactic? Taken the Palace job and getting ripped apart but don't wanna fall back on the usual 451 style tactic, wanna make a 3 striker tactic work if I can.
Try a 4-3-3. You just have to think about the player instructions for the forwards because you don't want them bogging each other down.

I would be inclined to try an advanced forward through the middle since it is simply the best role and will create space. Then maybe two DLFs that are set to play wider. It's cheating a little bit because it's kind of turning it into a 4-3-3 wide, but it's not quite, they still operate more like strikers.

Play wing backs on at least support for natural width. Maybe even on attack which is what I like in my 4-2-2-2. A wing back on attack is risky defensively and you will concede down your own channels but they can hold an entire wing on their own offensively. I think it is a net positive for the assists I get and an aggressive starting position for pressing.

How would you suggest setting up the 3 midfielders? I had previously been playing with a SS, with 2 CMs as a BWM(D) and DLP(S) but uts clearly too open.

Yes I don't think a SS is necessary because at least one of the strikers should drop into that area depending on what role you choose. DLFs are a creative role.

I would try something balanced. Maybe a BWM on defend to anchor things. Then two multifunctional roles that will link with the attack but not compromise you. Perhaps BBM, and a CM on support or attack (underrated role). If you have a wingback on support you could try a Mezzala on attack on that same side to attack the channels.

I never, ever agree to a specific role for a player.

Fm mobile is definitely easier isn’t it.

Won the Treble with Utd, only signing Paulinho on a free, Fabian from Napoli and Vazquez from R Madrid.

And I was always shite at FM (hadn’t played since FM12)

I would always consider starting position with roles too. Like a BWM will still try to win the ball, and that alone can leave you exposed.

If you have the players for it, I would have something like a DM (in front of the two CBS) and let him be the anchor, and then go for a box to box and AP or a Mezzala if you feel like there isn’t enough width.

You could get off with two good CBS in this set up even with wing backs going forward (I would even consider moving them up to the DM line)

AF, DLF and SS will have enough getting involved in your buildup. Could be very fun to watch.

Yeah I think it was a non negotiable one and I needed a CB badly at the time.
Yeah, I've lost many players doing it but I hate those demands. The "Sign a specific position" and the "Sign a player to help settle" I don't compromise on either. They can feck off

I immediately walk away if those are non-negotiable.

There's always somebody else.

It's part of the problem why AI teams can't build good squads, they keep selling some of their best players. It also seems like the best players are in constant rotation between the top clubs. I think part of the issue is that SI tried to change the fact that it was easy to build a top squad, and you would almost never run the risk of top players leaving. So they made it that every top player almost always wants to leave if an offer comes in. Means the AI got fecked by a measure that was supposed to make it harder for human managers to dominate. Quality move.

Ah players dumbness again. Dest gets angry at the start of season, I wouldn't let him go Chelsea after the transfer window was closed and Chelsea's offer was shite. One has to add, that Chelsea in hasn't won any trophies in the last 5 years and only made it to the CL twice, but it's Dest dream move now. Whelp he gets on with football, halfway through the first part of the season he wants to stay, I take him off the TL but demote him to squad player, I decided to put all my faith in my 5 star newgen FB, so feck Dest. Good thing I did, because not 3 games into the year 2026 Dest wants to leave again, great I'll put him on the transfer list gladly, I set the transfer value to his estimated value, and it shows that "my client would be happy with that asking price", no week later Dest wants to talk about his asking price, it's according to him too high. Jesus, make up your mind you numpty.

But I'm totally with you on that one. They also seem to regularly demand me playing them in positions and roles I don't use in any of my tactics. No way am I changing my tactics because of some players demand, feck em.

Well Klopp's career really took a nose dive. After leaving Liverpool for City he was sacked after just one season in charge there, got hired by Dortmund where he didn't even last 6 months. He is currently sitting in 4th place with them, 21 points behind Nagelsmann's Bayern team.

Ronaldo is a fecking cheat code. 16 games into the first season he has 23 league goals and Utd as a team have scored 69. Took me a few hundred hours but I think I finally sorted out my tactics. Good old 4-4-2 still works if you do it right :D .
