I've only played FM touch since 2016. Got a laptop for Christmas so have bought this...... Not used to such a big game. Will take some getting used to !
Unless you're actively trying to burn time I wouldn't bother. Outside of the ME the game is layer upon layer of shallow and repetitive busy work, dressed up as depth.
If you respect your own time, then FM touch is probably the way to go.
Once you've played a bit it's little more than having to solve 10 minutes of capt has between games.

Is neural network AI a possible avenue for future management games? Though I do wonder if the non-player AI managed teams will make too many smart decisions and render the game brutally difficult.

Started a journeyman type save to try and get me into this version. Started with Oxford City in the National League South, got them promoted with a 1st place finish. Resigned and took over a mid-table Forest Green side in League 1. Sitting top of the league in December. Got dicked by Fleetwood 6-2 in the Carabao Cup 3rd round though.

I don't think it is, it goes against their philosophy of the game having to be able to run on a toaster.

I feel the problem with the long term squad building could be solved without using any AI approach by just pure game logic and making the AI not just make selection and buy choices based on the reputation of players. It would already help if AI managers could be prevented from going silly a couple of seasons in and playing CBs as WBs or AMs as DMs.

Gone up to the Championship. Interestingly Everton were relegated in the first season and Rooney took over and led them to the Champ title... :nervous:

Attacking 4231 seems to be very overpowered again. Tried to play a high possession 433 in my first season, and it went okay, but I only finished 3rd and didn't win anything else. Switched to an attacking 4231 in my second season and immediately won the treble. :houllier:

Funny enough, Arsenal hasn't made the CL in the last two season and I managed to get Saka off them for €114M and he has been nothing short of amazing in his first season for me and very instrumental in winning the CL.

My second-best purchase so far seems to be Gouiri who I got from Rennes for €48M last season, he scored a hat trick in the CL final against Liverpool (3-1). Absolute legend.

Which btw also means I managed what I never managed in FM22 on my first try, win a CL final against Liverpool. Lost a final against them twice with United, once with Dortmund and once with Marseille. Felt so good to finally beat the bastards.

What the hell I just realized something completely random in my game. Hasenhüttl actually managed to get a third place with Southampton last season, he left at the end of his contract though and is now a scout at West Ham. What is going on here???

Edit: completely strange, looking at his profile he actually has Scout and DoF as the only green staff roles, did something like that ever happen in any of your games? :houllier:

It's coded into the game that a team is going to be your bogey team no matter what. Fecking Rotherham, no matter where we are in the league, no matter how much better they are or I am will beat me in this game.

It certainly feels that way.

For me right now it's Southampton. I completely win the majority of games against City, Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal, but Southampton is just a number too big for me, the damn feckers. Like I said, Ivan Toney always ends up with a brace against me. I played them 6 times so far, 3 draws, 2 losses and 1 win. The stupid win was in the Carabao Cup and Toney didn't play. Oh yeah and whoever the GK of Nottingham Forest is, feck off to another team pretty please. They are trash and constantly battling relegation, but oh boy if I come around, their goalie decides it's time to channel his inner Manuel Neuer, saved 13 shots in one game and 10 in the next, the complete bastard.

To get back at the topic of squad building from the AI. Just looking at the PSG squad gives me a headache. They play a 3421 with two DMs, last game they played Wijnaldum and Vitinha as DMs and Nuno Mendes as a CB. :houllier:

Totally not surprising they are only second in the league after half a season.

What's with the weird CL format that comes in?

Qualified for the CL with Sunderland in 2026 and it is some kind of bloated league. Caught me off guard.

Got wonderkids galore. Tresoldi, Moukoko, Endrick, JOBE Bellingham. You have to love it.

Yeah, just having my first season with the new format and I was like "what in the name of hell is that ungodly monster?" when I saw the league stage.

Great stuff Shoretire is out on loan, at Lens, playing pretty much every game, but he complains he isn't playing on the left wing.

The formation of Lens has no left wing position, but of course I can't tell him that, because the interaction module doesn't have that option.

I want to start a United save but I don't want Ronaldo in the squad and I think the game criminally underrates Lisandro Martinez. But even disregarding the Lisandro bit, any suggestions on the Ronaldo stuff?

If you are on Steam you can usually download a half decent update file from the workshop, there tends to be a few around especially winter time.

Yep, me too. Will buy the game only after Feb update.
1. Getting rid of Ronaldo (Alexis Sanchez, Lukaku - insert the name) in the beginning of a save is the headache I hate the most in entire game.
2. I am going to play Lisandro just out of respect :)

On the subject: just use him. He must be overrated as hell just like in FM22

Just wait til the update given there are constant changes in January. The sigames community forum also has constant up to date editor files that you can download where people make changes on the fly. Lisandro Martinez definitely underrated but might improve in this next update.

Was leading the Championship from about the 6th game until the 42nd and then a rotten bit of form in the last 4 games meant that Norwich finished 1st on GD ahead of me. Still, little Forest Green are heading to the Prem and it will be the first season in the new stadium which is smaller than the last one.

3 wins and 5 defeats in the first 8 PL games. Managed to sign Arezo but he's not that good in this version it seems.

See if Emre Tezgel is still stuck around in the Championship. He was very good for me scoring around 20 goals in his first season in Prem.

I’m playing FM12 because it’s the newest one I have. Any tips?

I’ve signed Casemiro from Santos but he’s nowhere near as good as he turned out in reality

Harry Kane, on loan at Millwall, is available for £2m

IIRC Ganso and Neymar are still at Santos too.
