Has anyone ever played an online game? In all my years I’ve never bothered. Would a few of you be up for it? Is it any good?
That is true. I find when I sign players it takes 6 months for them to become good which means that the game weighs heavily on squad dynamics and cohesion.I anyhow struggled with this in the 2nd season, always getting close but ultimately narrowly losing, but the third season I destroyed City in the CL semis and Barcelona in the final while having much inferior squad and not even tweaking the tactics so much, I believe the team chemistry, all the green links between the players and the fact they were well drilled in the overpowered gegenpressing was the reason it was so easy for me.
When online first came out I used to play in a couple of clans that never worked out, people were always missing and eventually, it just descended into a farce after a few weeks and the game never progressed very far.Has anyone ever played an online game? Ask for the masterminds behind the squad building AI.Heading to the SI offices in a few weeks, will pass on the feedback.
I played it on the PS5, I would say it is worth it runs much smoother than the awfully slow PC I have.Did anyone play FM23 on PS5? Is it worth buying?
Sounds like thought it would be! That’s totally fair. I know it’s pure dry but I always just get Utd back up and running and dominant again and then I just mess around in the lower leagues with free transfers and getting youths out of Spain Belgium and France semi pro and then once I’m in the PL I go for the South American wonderkids and it’s game over. It’s a really easy game if you follow the template (and go 5 at the back for really tough away games!) I won’t bother with online so. FM Live was a great craic though back in the day despite not lasting too long. it eventually lost a huge chunk of its playerbase cause those who got in a server first ended up dominant from picking up everyone with pace and tall cbs for the crazy op corners. Everyone's tactic was built around running down the wing really fast, getting to the byline and hoping for a corner before the winger crossed. Was pretty much impossible for new arrivals in a server to catch up.
Yeah I started an unemployed save, got in at Villareal after half a season and got Mainoo in the summer for 20m. Became a key player for me pretty quickly and is looking excellent.Doing a youth style save with Ajax, setting myself some rules (21yo transfers, not club allowed to break transfer record)
Really enjoying it after about one season. Brought Mainoo in on loan in January and he's absolutely brilliant!
I’d quite like to buy him but I could do so much more with the 15-20m so may try and loan him again.Yeah I started an unemployed save, got in at Villareal after half a season and got Mainoo in the summer for 20m. Became a key player for me pretty quickly and is looking excellent.
Seems like a really complicated version of genie scout to be honest.Really cool approach to playing this.
Have a look at MustermannFM's version of this:Really cool approach to playing this.
From what I have read it is because when most newgens are created they have the stat base that suits no nonsense full back or whatever the most basic one is so even though they have attributes which are set for them to be wingbacks or whatever the AI will train them in that most basic form which means unless you are handling their training they won't grow as they should. I imagine the same is for keepers.Saw a post on reddit earlier that the game doesn't generate sweeper keepers, so all newgen GKs have crap passing and first touch stats.
One of the comments mentioned it being an issue since at least 22 and that they literally haven't included a sweeper keeper profile in the newgen system. It's apparently the same reason full-backs are always shit, because they haven't updated the newgen profile tp reflect modern players.
SI every year. From what I have read it is because when most newgens are created they have the stat base that suits no nonsense full back or whatever the most basic one is so even though they have attributes which are set for them to be wingbacks or whatever the AI will train them in that most basic form which means unless you are handling their training they won't grow as they should. Either way it's a problem they need to fix.
SI every year.
I know, he's worth no more then 15 million
sickening unrealistic transfer

I'm hanging on for now and will probably pick it up off a key site in May, so currently simming FM23 to the future (currently at 2043) with the plan of getting to 2122 before I actually start a game on that. The way it's going, United still won't have won a league title.I already bought on based on the promises of improvement (which I'm regretting based on the beta) so I guess I will play it.
I am hoping they've magically managed to fix such core issues as squad building AI, player interactions, newgens, etc.. but they'll probably release the full version and be like "we fixed the number of goalkeeper injuries, cheers"
Because literally no AI manager/coach trains them that way, so no players actually develop into those roles unless you train them that way at your club. Why is it a problem?
Players aren't naturally a sweeper keeper or a roaming wing back, they have to be coached to be that.
For me this is the most realistic and best way of implementing positions for new gens.

This. Which is a problem because a) it means you have to identify targets early and sign them or develop them in your ranks and b) other teams won't do that so the game becomes easier and unbalanced.Because literally no AI manager/coach trains them that way, so no players actually develop into those roles unless you train them that way at your club.
I've never seen this issue, are you saying that 30 years or so into the game that there's zero sweeper keepers out there because none of the regens are trained that way?Because literally no AI manager/coach trains them that way, so no players actually develop into those roles unless you train them that way at your club.
There are far less than at the start of the game, yes. Same with the types of full backs that are current (inverted, wing backs with good crossing etc). Someone did a study and posted it on Reddit after simming into the future.I've never seen this issue, are you saying that 30 years or so into the game that there's zero sweeper keepers out there because none of the regens are trained that way?
Interesting, as I say I've never really seen this or at least if it was there never taken much notice of it, but to be fair I find the game gets ridiculously easy the further you get into it so often stop probably before it becomes too big an issue. There are far less than at the start of the game, yes. I don't think it's a bug. I just think it's something they've completely overlooked as they think the fans care more about putting face paint on their managers.Interesting, as I say I've never really seen this or at least if it was there never taken much notice of it, but to be fair I find the game gets ridiculously easy the further you get into it so often stop probably before it becomes too big an issue.
Defo sounds like a bug, and interesting if this has been going on for a few versions as shows the 'background' tweaks SI apparently do aren't as big as they possibly claim!

The issue is only really noticeable if you're someone who plays long saves. Realistically, you're looking at a good five or six seasons at least before regens start becoming somewhat noticeable.Interesting, as I say I've never really seen this or at least if it was there never taken much notice of it, but to be fair I find the game gets ridiculously easy the further you get into it so often stop probably before it becomes too big an issue.

Yep this is basically what people simming years into the future have discovered. Not a single regen GK with passing above 10.I've never seen this issue, are you saying that 30 years or so into the game that there's zero sweeper keepers out there because none of the regens are trained that way?
Miles needs to go imo. Game has stagnated under him for years now.I don't think it's a bug. I just think it's something they've completely overlooked as they think the fans care more about putting face paint on their managers.

Darvich is class. Kayode I had a deal for but pulled out as I had agreed for Dedic on a cheaper deal, but feel like I'm regretting that now as the season is going and the scouts get more info. Also brought in Diomande, almost got Pavlovic to partner him but he went with Arsenal. Always feel like there are a handful of players that pretty much everyone goes for. Always decent priced with big potential.
Since it was the beta I went mental and broke us financially but did the treble.
Switched between these two in the season. Ferguson works far better as a striker within a two than by himself but Darvich is very good so kept trying. Most of the time though I brought on Cunha at half time as he's excellent. When they play as a two though I'd blitz teams.
I'm living in (perhaps futile) hope that 25 will be very good and they'll have fixed all of the long-standing issues.Miles needs to go imo. Game has stagnated under him for years now.
Yep. Every player was under 100m too so they're achievable for the big clubs. I think Diomande was 54m, Darvich 32m, Olise 41m, Pinyaev 9m, Ferguson 84m, Emery 90m, Kayode 50m, Ito 25m, Moscardo 20m, Cunha 20m.Darvich is class. I switched to 442 at the start of my 3rd season with Villareal now and seen a big step up though. Was doing alright but always feel like I'm not getting enough shots off and while the xG was alright, it's volatile to have too many below 1 xG games. 4-4-2 and suddenly I'm getting roughly 20 shots per game and blowing teams out with xG now (and scoring). Going with this basically, Baena as a deeper forward and Leonardo as a poacher who is a beast.
Marcos Leonardo - Baena
Akhomach - Mainoo - Bove - Pedrola
Guindo - Cuenca - Diomande - Foyth
