Gary Neville - Pundit

When have you known Gary Neville not to have an opinion on anything

…when his co-commentator starts talking about the protests prior to the game of course.

Gary Neville like many of us is still grasping to the idea of United being an elite club and measures our performances on that conceptual metric. The truth of the matter is we’re no where near the club we once were and we may not be at that level again for a dreadfully long time. The sooner Gary realises this the more objective and less critical his analysis of United will be.

Sometimes we need to accept to see clearly.

He is basically the same as any ABU pundit at this point. Need to blank him out.

...... "THERE".

What’s shocking is that many here on the cafe share the same opinions as him. He’s hard on the club like everyone!

The amount of posts complaining about people complaining at Gary because you think its because he mean when he's only saying what this forum is saying. Again no one is annoyed that he says bad things about United. I'll give you an example from a few weeks back against Spuds Neville said this “Amorim is really angry. He is going mad at his bench. He is shouting at people. I'm not sure what he is angry about. The biggest problem l can see is how this team are set up.” Not sure what he is angry about? He said this after Garnacho missing a one on one after that Onana threw the ball to Maddison surrounded by 5 defenders in the box letting Maddison score. The setup has nothing to do with Garnacho missing that chance, Neville clearly has an agenda. Like with Roy with his none stop criticism of Bruno when after motm performances its clearly not just because former player says bad things they both clearly have an agenda.

Say what you want about Gary Neville love him or hate him. At least he’s got some character.

I’m watching Sky Sports News coverage at the moment and it’s being presented by two of the most bland and uncharismatic geeks I’ve ever seen presenting football.

Is this part of some YTS, any fan can present on TV initiative?

I just watched the interview he did with Jim Ratcliffe on The Overlap and impressed that he asked the hard questions. Not the softball questions I might have expected.

actually we get annoyed at people saying: "clearly they have an agenda", when that isn't clear at all and there's no proof for it.

That's your opinion and you are allowed it, but that doesn't make it a fact

OHHHHHH...at this moment in time....THERE.

Get some new material Gary. The 'moment in time' thing really frustrates me listening to him as he must say it on average every 7 seconds

No this below is what I'm talking about. No mention of agenda, you just going at people because you it's he says mean things about United and we don't like it. I'll repeat myself that isn't why. If you don't think either have an agenda Gary with Rubin and his formation or Roy with Bruno good for you. It's clear TO ME they both won't let it go.

Have to laugh at people constantly having a go at Gary - he is only saying what most people say here. And he's as much a fan of the club as any here but they want him to be another Carragher or Redknapp or one of the other buffoons

I would love that someone does this to him finally.

For context; this pundit is our version of Neville. Shitting on everybody and having different standards for foreign managers and players. Gattuso finally hit back.

They’re both a pair of dicks who are playing to the gallery and consistently negative with United and rarely show a positive attitude. Yes, plenty of posters on here are similar but the difference with Neville is that he jumps up up with his “ooooooh, that’s dangerous “ if one of our players leaves a foot in and of course when it’s the other way around… “nah! Nothing in that”. Carragher is more objective. Keane is just being Keane and just as bad. Miserable cnut. Must be at least 2 years since Ive listened to commentary and never watch “analysis “. It bad enough on here but easier to be selective and it on the whole, more objective and even handed debate.

It's nice his English has improved a bit

The only thing that is clear is that YOU THINK they have an agenda. Opinion does not equal fact, unless you're a Trump supporter

No shit, it’s clearly to me it’s my post. Do I need to type ‘I think’ he has an agenda every time?

Going for the Trump supporter crap eh. Please.

Love how many languages they cycle through, not sure that would work wit our G Nev

His hyperbolic nonsense on yesterday is so boring and tedious.

Feigning shock and awe that this Newcastle team comfortably beat this United team - ignoring all context of the fact it was sandwiched in-between two games which actually matter.

The result yesterday was one of the most obvious of the season to call.

He grates you at times and he's everywhere USA coverage he's on Sky ,Ytube he's on everything has opinion on everything he will imo do or talk about everything for Money.
Now he's not as bad as Carragher or that twat Henry in what they did on Monday night football.. even Sky took there X content down on what they did to Yoro ..

I know this is the Gary Neville thread but I have to rant about this. Those fecking imbeciles should be just as embarrassed as the United team were after the Newcastle display for that appalling display of punditry.

They literally take a freeze frame from about half a second after the goal went in of Yoro looking vaguely in the direction of the assistant and use that to spend two minutes just ragging on him. What's extra ridiculous is that they're criticising him for something without even presenting any evidence that he's done the thing they're criticising him for. It wasn't like we're shown a clip of him gesturing to the assistant referee - he just turns around and looks in that general direction. They've decided to waste two minutes attacking him for absolutely feck all, especially given that the goal they're analysing was the fault of Mazraoui and Lindelof who somehow escape any of this criticism.

That made Henry look like a strange guy tbh.

The player ousted him from Monaco citing lack of professionalism and poor training. Was damning stuff.

That whole segment just showed them up to be completely past it. I get they need to make up the minutes but if you actually listen to what they said, it's comical.

Carragher's first point on Lindelof - "not even Rio would be comfortable taking the ball where Lindelof does". proceeds to show Lindelof take the ball with ease and play a sensible pass. Ugarte is the one who makes the error by giving a bad pass back when he could use Zirkzee who is running up the wing or Garnacho who is a simple pass forwards into feet. And even then, he gets a pass away to Eriksen who pays a bad pass to Ugarte, who then plays the pass which loses possession. I don't like Lindelof but Carragher's point didn't even make sense. They just want to talk about the back three because it is a point of contention with United's fanbase.

Second point just shows Lindelof being who he is, not a good man to man marker and someone whose preference is always to drop off. He thinks Isak is going behind him and gets done. Simple.

Henry's criticism of Yoro is fine if he just said he's let Barnes get into a good shooting position too easily. That's true, I think Yoro will be disappointed in himself not to at least have made a challenge there but the fact Henry has apparently 'never seen' a player look at the lino after the opponent scores is so obviously a lie for the dramatic effect of it. He might have been hoping that there was a foul on Maz, he might be frustrated and looking in despair somewhere random, he also might naturally do it after every goal which is pretty common.

I do agree with Carragher that we rarely see the WBs in offensive positions i.e. pushing high when we have the ball deep but then that's a choice, it's tactical.

Agree totally

Figurative self-flagellation when it comes to anything United is one of Gary’s favourite past times so business as usual

Plus his employer wants them soundbites more than the actual analysis.

We were still regarded by many as the biggest club in England before SAF even won his first title, back when it was 18-7 in Liverpool's favour.

Making Gary commentate on Liverpool winning their 20th title was just plain mean. How good is this team Gary ? How great is Slott, Gary? He probably wanted to be sorting his plant pots out in his garden shed rather than doing that.

I think it was a direct dig at Amorim when he said, that Liverpool don't play anyone style of football as some managers do, he can adapt how is team plays depending on the game and circumstances. I assumed that was a dig at Amorim, as he went on about for a while.

Our champions league record makes it a true statement unfortunately. Both clubs have had their cycles over the decades with United having more lows than Liverpool. Under SAF we got 20 years of near domination in the league but Europe and domestic cups were disappointing. When we do make it back to contention I would like the club to go all out on Europe and try bag at least two more champions leagues. Right now would settle for literally anything. We don't even have fecking goals to celebrate and every great result is followed by predictable fecking rubbish.

On a recentish episode of the overlap, he said no United fan wanted ten Hag out last season. What planet is he on?
