Get rid of VAR NOW! We want our game back! (...or not, some are happy)

VAR - Love or Hate?

The sequence is stopped at a random moment because they can’t accurately tell when the player touches the ball for a pass, the whole thing is a massive sham when a decision is that close.

this is so true. Without much higher frame rates then there is a lag between each frame where it could be the difference between onside or offside.

It's an absolute disgrace and it has nothing to do with the tech itself but the way its being implemented by the morons in charge. You cannot fecking rule out goals by millimeters when the tech isn't 100% ffs. Absolutely horrendous and fecking up the game.

I’m sure Liverpool fans are ok with it. If you were analysing this as a neutral you’d think the whole system was invented purely to help them win games.

Ive changed, its horrible. This goal and Brighton yesterday is not clear at all. Changed my opinion absolute crap.
but it was clear, with the technology used is was offside, nothing is going to change until the summer, at which point they need to totally rewrite the offside law

That wolves goal being disallowed is nuts. I don’t understand how you introduce VAR and don’t adapt the rules at the same time.

Offside was brought in to stop goal hanging not to deny an attacker who is 1mm offside.

The rule just needs to be rewritten so that instead of being offside is your boot tiny bit offside it should be ‘if any body part is onside then you are onside’.
Souness has just said the same thing and I would agree

It is so funny to see.

The argument in this thread was effectively:
“Don’t bring in VAR, it will change the game and won’t work”
”alright grandpa, we live in a modern world, VAR will be amazing!”

three months later after VAR has changed the game and doesn’t work.
“Well I hate to say it, but I was right.”
“No! This isn’t VARs fault, we just need MORE VAR.”

No the rules need changing that’s all that is required. But as usual the football authorities can’t take a common sense view on it. Once we had a situation like the one against Sheffield United v Spur they should have change the offside rule via VAR.

The offside law is perfectly fine. The use of VAR in offside situations needs fixing. A simple rule would be not to intervene in cases that can’t be reversed by naked eye observations alone.

The history books that show Liverpool as 2019/2020 EPL winners should have an asterisk next to it.

*VAR was brought in this season and it had a lot of controversy

What a crock of shit it is  takes away a lot of the joy even with legitimate goals and it just seems to make goal scoring in general a lot harder. Thought goals were the main part of football

Fantastic spot by VAR i guess?
Linesmen always gave these calls, lets not pretend this is a 2019 thing.
And no Souness, youre not in the fecking entertainment business. That line really annoyed me.
Poor Wolves player looked like a dick there

so yesterday, they said any part the ball can be played with when considering offside. Now they have drawn a line from the Wolves player's foot, but from the picture it seems the Liverpool player's knee is ahead of the Wolves player's foot.

It's almost as if they are trying to sabotage it so the refs in England can make it all about themselves again.

but it was clear, with the technology used is was offside, nothing is going to change until the summer, at which point they need to totally rewrite the offside law
Its not clear is it, you could probably roll the frames back milliseconds to make it look onside. The tech is rubbish hence why when its zoomed in its like Fifa 97. They need better frame rate to make it clearer.

The FA cannot unilaterally change the laws of football

The thing that makes this Wolves one even worse is that you can't even fully see the body of the Liverpool player behind him... So they are actually just doing guess work... Which is bullshit

I don’t remember them doing this for the World Cup?

What an absolute shambles the PL have made of implementing VAR.

If this is how it’s going to be, they need to scrap it. What an absolute shambles. And I think exactly the same when it benefits my team as well.
I was thinking the same thing. I don't think I've seen it used this stupidly anywhere else. It seems to be a PL problem.

The VAR headquarters is based in Melwood, it fecking has to be. They get all the decisions ffs.

Should it really be a surprise that incompetent refs are incompetent at using technology?

They dont have these issues in other leagues

There's a conspiracy theory that they're intentionally ballsing it up just so they can go back to the old way.

The amount of times i have heard this load of nonsense . They are not that clever they are just totally incompetent

the tech they use gets it completely level, the camera doesn't

Having an argument with a Liverpool supporting mate about all the VAR decisions that have gone their way this season. He has asked me to name three aside from today. I know they have had plenty of decisions go their way but can’t think of any off the top of my head. Anyone able help me out?!

No but they can set guidance for how to use VAR (which is why other countries do offsides better then us)
or maybe our pundits could all shut the feck up about VAR and just accept that until the summer when potentially the offside law can be rewritten this is how its going to be, I bet this happens in Europe too but they just accept it instead of having a tantrum every time

Add an option "I think its OK, but needs work to improve it for next season"

This is a poll of extreme opinions only.

Yeah, we don’t like this but I guess we should just shut the feck up about how bad we think it is and how it’s ruining the game. It’s here now so just shut the feck up. Right.

Does it? Because they show us the pictures that VAR use... And its the same angles as the TV
the reason it takes so long is they use a computer program which does it, even though they have the same pictures, that's why often the line doesn't look like it is straight.

I cannot remember the name of the program though I did see it in an article

I said it in the other thread, but it's almost as if this is being done on purpose to eventually scrap VAR. This implementation is by far the worst I've seen. Not only does it take too long for a review but they are relying on this sometimes misleading frame by frame analysis for exact measurements.

Why do they have the VAR monitors on the sidelines but the PL refs never use them?

IFAB requirement to have it, they can't make the referee check them though...

VAR in the premier league should be scrapped. It's worse than nothing.
