Yeah I didn't really like her as an actress until this show, I think she's brilliant in it and plays the part perfectly. One of the reasons I like the show so much.

Clare Danes is excellent in the show, her character is supposed to be a lunatic bitch that frustrates the viewers, just like in episodes two when she decides to go back and grab the evidence from the house.

Why does Brody's wife call him brody??

Isn't it a bit weird your wife calling you by your last name?

I suspect he's always been called Brody by people that know him and she must have known him before marrying him.

Loved the latest episode.

Btw, did they ever gave a reason as to why Walker turned?
If there was, I can't remember it.

Damian Lewis and his Homeland co-star David Estes have reportedly signed five-year contracts.

The deal means that the Damian Lewis could potentially play the part of Nicholas Brody for a total of seven seasons, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.

Homeland co-star David Harewood, who plays the part CIA counter-terrorism director David Estes, is also reported to have signed a similar five-year deal.

The second season of Homeland is currently airing on RTÉ Two on Tuesdays at 9pm.

There is no way they have the legs to get seven seasons out of this, though I'm sure those are just contracts to ensure they don't leave the show high and dry. It's already starting to verge on the ridiculous with some of the things that are going on.

This is Showtime we're talking about here, they are notorious for stretching shows out to their death.

When I was watching Californication and Dexter for the first time I thought they were going to be one season shows, and now look at them. Same with Weeds.

There were two or three Dexter books out by the time the TV show was made to be fair.

I would say from the looks of this season, this show is capable of running three seasons. Seven though is ridiculous.

The longer a show gets and the more difficult it is to keep its quality at the same level.Obviously I cannot see them stretch this Brody plot for seven seasons, no doubt they've prepared something

It's the big difference between Showtime and HBO for me, HBO know when to end a show, if the writers feel the time is right they don't stop them. The Wire, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Oz. All ended whilst still at their peak and before you got the feeling that they were going downhill.

My only worry is it will do a Lost or something. Solid start but crumbles a bit under its own success and doesn't know where its going in the middle so just make up more shit and do things that make no sense, and only do something decent when they know how to end it. If the writers know what they want to do then it'll be fine I'm sure

HBO isn't always spot on. They have made mistakes with Deadwood and Carnivale; both excellent shows that were cancelled. Also, True Blood is pretty much shit wall to wall now. It has turned from a well paced thriller to porn without the intercourse.

Showtime does have a reputation of sucking the life of a series by not ending it when they could have. It's still early though. Let's enjoy it while it lasts.

Just finished watching Hatufim the series Homeland was based on and thought I'd recommend it in here. It's a much slower show that really focuses on character development and is basically unrecognisable from Homeland. The acting is top notch too, better than Clare Danes even who I think is playing Carrie very well.

Available on Hulu and season 2 starts today I think.

I read an interview somewhere that the whole thing on Lost was they knew the ending from the start and never changed it regardless of other characters coming in to the show etc, that was the ending they always wanted. The middle bit they wrote as they went along as they only planned 1 or 2 series of it.

I always worry about American shows as lot of them do seem to go on for far to long. Lost, Prison Break, 24 being 3 examples of ones that all probably went on for at least 2 seasons to long and whilst some did end at the right time (the Wire, The Sopranos) they even had more questionable episodes in the last series or 2 than they did in the initial few.

I didn't think Homeland could last more than 1 series, however 2 has started off well. I don't know what they will do now Saul has found out, it seems far to early in a series to out Brody now as part of the group and if they do want to make it last a few more series it doesn't make sense. I can see them killing off Saul or something like that before he tells anyone.

Episode 3 was awful boring at times. I need to stop watching the "next week on" clips at the end because as soon as I knew it was the tailor he was visiting I knew what was going to happen, and it was just a case of getting it over with.

Yeah that's why I usually don't watch previews. Nothing surprising about the epeisode due to the preview. Unfortunately I can't help myself with shows where the preview comes a few seconds after the end of the last episode. I have also just watched next weeks preview.

Pretty disappointed with this episode to be honest. It felt like a filler episode.

The whole Carrie storyline culminating to that last moment in this episode was brilliant. Brody's arc was 24 like and unneeded.

I enjoyed it and the carrie storyline in particular was great. I never, ever watch the previews so that might have helped.

It was a bit of a filler episode.....but being that this isn't a 20+ episode a season series(thx showtime/hbo/fx/amc), even the filler episodes are fine watching. Mrs. Brody looking smoking in this episode too.

I think people are forgetting that the current set up of Brodie being "in" with the CIA etc, may not last longer than this season, I think there is a lot of scope for Homeland to continue for a few more seasons. Many things could change, he could be found out this series and go on the run, he could recruit his own terrist army, etc etc.

That should really be in spoiler tags.

Personal speculation about future developments based on nothing
Or he could be turned as a double (or rather triple) agent.

Is Beirut featuring heavily in this?

I've not seen this show, but being from Beirut I've been asked by people at work here in London if it's really like the way it's portrayed in the show.

Let me guess, Hezbollah forces running the streets armed with guns? Everything's broken-down, etc.?

It was featured in the first two episodes. It was shown as a functioning city with certain areas where Hezbollah had a degree of control but not to the degree that there were total no go areas. It was also shown that Hezbollah had some officials in their pocket at places like the airport.

I don't find her that attractive. There was a scene in the episode where I couldn't stop looking at how small her head is in relation to the rest of her body, it looked unnaturally small.

This won't make you feel any better but when I was younger, about 9/10, where I lived was a shit hole nicknamed by everyone as Beirut.
