Who are the players targeted by Barcelona according to the press?
Flipping heck. According to you, it seems Pochettino is Johan Cruyff and Sir Alex Ferguson rolled into one. He's a good coach who did a fine job at Spurs but ultimately didn't win a single piece of silverware in 5 years. Stylistically I'm not convinced he's a fit for Barca as well. His Espanol past might make him a tough sell. I always thought the job in Spain he coveted was the Real Madrid job. Taking the Barca job is a good way to jepardise that. The only man that can fix this mess beside Pep, is Mauricio Pochettino. We all know what has to be done, but it won’t because Messi is Barcelona. What needs to be done is sell Messi and use the funds to buy Kane, who only Pochettino can convince to come to Barcelona and over there he will finally win trophies and become maybe a greater player than Lewandowski. Moreover, give Pochettino 90% role in player recruitment and player management.
Poch Barcelona team:
———— Ter Stagen———-
Atal - Upamecano - Lenglet - Alba
——-N’Dombele - De Jong——
Dembele ——————- Coutinho/Traore
——————-Greizman ————-
——————- Kane —————
Second team:
Neto
Samedo - Pique - Umtiti - Firpo
Sergi Roberto
Aléna/Pjanic - Puig
Trincao - Fati - Pedri
According to Sport, Barcelona will now consider a huge clear-out, with only four players considered untouchable in their entire squad. They are Lionel Messi, Frenkie de Jong, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Clement Lenglet, according to Sport’s report.
3rd in a league that is essentially a 2 horse race is failure. They only managed to stay in the CL a couple of years in a row now by taking teams back to Nou Camp and overturning heavy away defeats, they've been in decline for a few years now, this is as Pique put it "rock bottom".I feel their decline is being exaggerated, they will be able to maintain 2nd/3rd in the league without any issues but the late stages of Europe look a step to far with this squad.
I think they need 3-4 new faces that they can mix in with emerging talent and loanees coming back. Messi will stay for another year I feel.

I would say they're referring to first team regulars. Ansu Fati and Riqui Puig will be at Barca unless a club pays their respective buyout clauses.Ansu Fati not included? This has got to be an exaggeration:
Honestly, there's not a single Barca player I would consider untouchable if I was running that club, with the possible exception of Ansu Fati.According to Sport, Barcelona will now consider a huge clear-out, with only four players considered untouchable in their entire squad. With the budget Pochettino had at Spurs and expectations at Spurs before Pochettino made them a big club, winning a silverware wasn’t a requirement. However, even though it wasn’t a requirement, he came close numerous time, which speaks about his managerial qualities. If the board at Spurs had taken the extra mile to support Poch, he would have easily won a trophy, but they were more concerned about their finances and building one of the best stadium in the world. At Barcelona, the club is a mess and they may look at Poch to help clean it up and bring stability like he did at Spurs, but unlike Spurs, Barcelona has a pool of talent that, Pochettino will be able to win things without paying ridiculous amount of money as they did in the past. Unless, they are replacing Messi. If they are replacing him, then they would need a top star to come in and that would cost a fortune.Flipping heck. Not sure who will be interested. Certainly no big teams. Players like Vidal, busquet, rakitic, pique, suarez etc are too old and are on massive wages.According to Sport, Barcelona will now consider a huge clear-out, with only four players considered untouchable in their entire squad. So far they are linked with Martinez, Dest, Ndombele, Garcia, Alaba, Aubameyang, and Neymar.Who are the players targeted by Barcelona according to the press?
Thanks for the answer. So far they are linked with Martinez, Dest, Ndombele, Garcia, Alaba, Aubameyang, and Neymar.
Lenglet is awfulAccording to Sport, Barcelona will now consider a huge clear-out, with only four players considered untouchable in their entire squad. They are Lionel Messi, Frenkie de Jong, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Clement Lenglet, according to Sport’s report.
Lenglet is awful
Why do some PL fans get their panties in such a twist over this slogan?Don’t know, don’t care, but it’s absolutely beautiful watching the implosion.
More than a club
He is. He's nowhere near Barcelona standard but looks okay in the current team because the rest of the jokers are even worse. No, he’s not, far from it

I think this is about right. They should start the whole thing a fresh and the only way to do that is to move him on.Sell Messi and begin thinking about the future.
Messi and his pals are the hierarchy. And he will have to go one day, so its better if barca cash in on him and let him go.
In the long run its the best decision.
This is the conundrum they face. IF COVID-19 didn't happen, shifting these players and recouping some cost back would have made sense. But the world - and in effect the football landscape has changed completely. I think the absurd fees we saw regularly (the £80+ million transfer fees) have peaked and now that bubble has burst. Most clubs are strapped for cash - Barcelona especially. The Messi situation reminds me of Shearer at Newcastle, he's grown that big he's untouchable.
They can't build a new team around a man that will be 35 in two years time. Messi needs to leave for Barca and his own career, I'd love him at United for a few years regardless of how we've been burnt in the past by former great players. Messi still has something in his legs to offer us for two or three years he's that good.
The problem for Barca is once Messi is gone they aren't left with a player that can basically destroy teams on his own, they'd need to replace him.
Suarez, Vidal, Umtiti, Alba, Rakitic, Dembele, Busquets and Pique, they've all seen better days. How do you get rid of them on the wages they are on, I don't see many fancying China at the moment, maybe they will go over to the Gulf states or Japan or maybe even the U.S.
They don't need to get rid of these players right now and half of them are out of contract next summer anyway. Alba is still a quality player, they shouldn't get rid of Dembélé and Busquets/Piqué should be the older head in the locker room and squad options. The Messi situation reminds me of Shearer at Newcastle, he's grown that big he's untouchable.

There's a BBC Storyville documentary that follows Joan Laporta's first season as president. Club in crisis.I can see most posters are too young (or too old?) to remember the hole Barca was in during 2000-2003 just to win a UCL in 2006.
Those rebuilds never really take as long as we initially expect them to at clubs like Barca, Bayern or Real Madrid. Even when they're in crisis they still end up being in CL and competing for trophies occasionally, Madrid were 'in crisis' for like 8 years between their 2002 Champions League win and early 2010s but were still winning La Liga and getting out of group stage in Champions League. That is probably where Barcelona may be for the next 2-3 years but I'm sure they'll be back in CL final within 10 years at worst. Probably within 5 even.
Almost all big clubs in Europe have been able to go from 'deep crisis' to being properly competitive within 5 years. The only ones who haven't are Milan and us, both of whom have been spectacularly mismanaged during this time. The falls that Man United and Milan have witnessed are almost unprecedented in European football.
