If we have any business left in us, will it be deadline day stuff or straight after CL qualification

International week coming up.

Wont most players will be away on international duty by deadline day on Tuesday?

I understand the CL thing, but then surely the deal would be done pending final bits... That doesn't stop the club accepting an official bid and us agreeing terms on a proposed basis of attaining CL, yet it would seem as though (and admittedly Social Media is all we have to go by) that we aren't that far in any negotiations for players.
Maybe we are. A deal like that would need to be kept very quiet or a player could end up staying at a club with everyone knowing he was about to leave.

I think we'll sign someone on deadline day, yes. However, I think we'll also sell de Gea on deadline day...

Wouldn't surprise me to see a signing announced on Friday either, if we qualify tonight.

It isn't actually feasible to sign someone like Griezmann, Reus, Müller i.e. a player crucial to a very good club in fine financial condition on the deadline day. You need to do such transfers in advance to leave time for replacement search.

Someone like Mane might be a possibility because Southampton will not make CL anyway and having or not having Mane will not make that much difference financially. The impact of Griezmann leaving could be several million if they struggle afterwards.

The next few days tend to be limbo for majority of clubs, as selling clubs want to hold on until the desperate times of deadline day.

Yea they will be but it's the same every year, arsenal got Ozil and done the medical in Germany a couple seasons back.

In: Stones or Laporte; Bale or Nerman

Out: Evans, Jones and DDG.

That'll do

Can't wait to wake up to the big signing tomorrow. Will probably be a monster of deal, one that was hanging on qualification and now that we have ... we are going to announce that we've signed ... "Insert some company name here" as a new commercial partner for the next 5 years.

I think we still have one mega-signing left in our kitty! Might happen in the next couple of days. Especially after yesterday's performance, we cannot go into the season with just Rooney and Chich.

What striker to sign though?

Benzema, not possible.
Berahino, we aren't in for him and he's a bit of a tit.
Zlatan, not in for him and how long would it take to get in the war with LVG?
Cavani, PSG wouldn't sell him.

I don't know, that's all the names I could come up with.

We ain't gonna sign more than one player.
WHOEVER we sign it will be someone to come into the team so that rules out Mane, Berahino etc

I cannot see Neymar, Muller or Bale coming despite our best efforts but we might see a Reus, Griezman or even Isco. Are we even in for Stones??

The muppet in me says Bale in a mega deal. Worst nightmare is Cavani.

I can see Evans, de Gea leaving too on deadline day

Dont think there's anyone available with Woody at the game yest, he's clearly not sitting their knocking on a Barcelona / Bayern / Real door day and night and working hard at it in the background, obviously a meeting with another club is prob only a few hrs long, but think this may have been throwing a sign out to fans. I just dont think we'll get anything through shame and even more of a stupid reason for not pushing Pedro through.

I can't see where a major signing is going to come from. We aren't seriously linked with anyone at all.

All I can see is Cillessen coming in to replace De Gea when he goes to Madrid.

I don't see anyone available that would improve us significantly enough.

It'll be interesting to see what happens now that we've officially qualified for the champions league! Suddenly players may look at us and think "ah yeah they can guarantee champions league football plus the way they are set up they could do well in Europe". And of course the financial rewards that come with it are huge. Maybe the club was waiting until knowing we'd qualified before spending big again? Time will tell but there's not much time left.

Still think there's potentially a Real Madrid player coming our way as part of any DDG deal. Most likely Bale.

I hate deadline signings. Remember waiting all through the night for the Fellaini signing to go through..ah the desperation
Did the same thing with Falcao last summer. Gave up at 1:30am as had to be up for work early the next morning. Think he was officially announced a few minutes later in the end.

That was well worth it.

Has he actually played on the right before? Only ever see him as a deep striker, which would also be something that we need in LvG's system, or on the left.
I think mostly left..but Ashley young transitioned from right to left, didn't he? I would just love the goal threat that he would bring to the side, we are lacking goals at the moment

Why does no one link us with Lacazette anymore? Has he been crap this year?

I think a lot will depend on Sunday's game. If we play as we have so far this season, if we fail to create much and look like we lack goals and don't win I think the pressure will be on. Woodward and LVG will then try to dip back in to the market.

But if we beat Swansea at the weekend then I don't expect us to sign anyone. For some reason the start to the season has pleased LVG and I'm not sure he's convinced we need anyone now.
Agree with this

Don't know really. He signed a new contract last I heard.
Yeah he signed a new contract I'm sure he did. There was a lot of speculation earlier this summer but I'm sure that was all then put to bed by him signing a new contract.

Yeah but he seems best behind a leading striker and that's also how van Gaal's system works. The creativity comes from the two wide players. It's not like with City who in Silva have a real playmaker in the center of the attacking midfield. So I don't think him on the right is a necessary switch nor would it happen under van Gaal.

That is too bad then because Griezmann is exactly the type of player we should be looking at. Its hard to see who the marquee signing could be if not him.

What @NoLogo says make sense..but Id love him here because for me I think he comes across as a player that will continue to get even better with time..with him being a long time United fan, we wouldn't even have to worry about the scavenger clubs

I agree what he said makes sense, but I cannot see us going into next season without at least one more addition and there very few players that fill the bill and profile of who we are looking for. Reus isn't for sale, Bale doesn't want OT, then who?

I would love it if we go for him. Reus, Griezmann, Bale or Müller would be dream signings for this position imo but only Griezmann is available for a halfway acceptable fee due to his buy-out clause. As much as I love Januzaj but he still seems to be too far off to be being a real starter for us, he just can't produce performances on a high enough level for us atm.
