Dembele it is then. So underhwelming that this is what it’s like now. We wreak of desperation. We should be trying to bolster the defence yet we are signing a RW that probably wasn’t even on the list to begin with along with Cavani, again who wasn’t on the list and a left back that in all seriousness is not going to improve us to the extent of getting out the bottom half of the table. Rotten.

I still can't believe we've spent the entire summer chasing this signing when it's been obvious for a few weeks now that it won't happen.

I think Woodward and co had no intention of buying Sancho, and dortmund caught on to it.

They just go after these big name players to appease the fans, and offer lowball offers, drag these to the end, and then just say "hey we tried".

fecking pathetic.

Ok I’ve got one foot out now.

Unless something unexpected happens today, I will see you all in May! Have a nice 7 months until then, muppets!!

I agree with this. It may not be true and Ed and Co are really trying hard but offering bids we know they won't accept doesn't smell of trying to save money just save face

I heard late last night that Sancho is still Uniteds first choice and they have not given up. Things could of course have changed since then, but that’s a message I haven’t received. It looks more and more unlikely to happen, but as far as I know the door is not completely closed yet.

It’s over. Mods please close the thread. I can’t physically take any more of it!

He's a class act. I'm not sure he's a lesser player than Sancho. Just his injury record is what's held him back.
No doubt he is talented but any pacey player who has had three separate hamstring injuries since May 2019 (including the lockdown period and everything) and has missed 28 games just from those is a massive gamble. Spending say $65 million on him could potentially set us back like the Sanchez signing. And I worry that we haven't left ourselves enough time to negotiate a loan deal. Our need for the deal is greater than Barca at the moment and we may end up giving in.

14 hours left as if we’re dropping £100m at this stage.

See you guys at this thread next January. Until then bye bye from Sancho thread.
This was our chance of a free run at Sancho and we messed it up. Chelsea will likely bin off Hudson-Odoi next summer and sign Sancho.

We've had a whole summer and a global lockdown to agree a fee with Dortmund, instead we thought we were entitled to the bargain of the window and were left with egg on our faces. This one is completely over and I don't mean just this transfer window.

Would love to know the exact number of how often we told the press he is our number one target. As if that meant anything.

I for one will sleep soundly tonight knowing that we didn't overpay for Sancho. Better to spend the money on dividends to buy Joel Glazer a new kitchen than on a world class player imo.

It's just like Haland, sure he scores a lot of goals - but isnt to better to be able to know we took a principled stand on agent fees? Plus Ighalo is a United fan.

He's been ordered to party and have this leaked so they have reasons to slag him off.

He's coming, it's so obvious.

Yeah Sancho doesn’t matter we‘re getting that kid Forlan recommended. We have a good track of former player recommendations just look at Dan James

His attitude and professionalism will be the problem. The guy would arrive late for his own funeral.
A lot of brilliant footballers have had issues with their professionalism and have gone onto to have great careers. Anyway, we're desperate and in desperation, it's not always possible to get our number one choice.

feck sake. Orny made me unzip :(

Is it time to migrate to the demebele thread?
Always injured, problems off and on the field, huge money but with room to spare for dividends, deep down would prefer to stay in Spain? Sounds like the Dembele thread is the perfect place to be

If we get close to the 120mil mark it's a done delio with the way Sancho has been acting.

So when Smalling goes we'll have spent around £20 net. That's a new low even for this board when we're supposed to be rebuilding. These players will be run into the ground by xmas with Mata, Lingard and Dan James being the backups. Long season ahead.
