There might be a bit of a scramble for the more promising young English defenders over the summer. Cahill, Shawcross and even Jones at Blackburn will all be looked at by the bigger teams...
Didnt catch the Liverpool match did you? He's been a disaster this season, not winning any challenge, every striker in the PL got the better of him.
Don't forget the League Cup. Carlton Cole raped the shit out of him. He's been a disaster this season, not winning any challenge, every striker in the PL got the better of him.
I fecking hope not.I think we will bring Shawcross back next season!!
What?No surprise you agree.
Think back to our clean sheet jizz fest 18months ago. Who was the main stay there?
Do we just routinely loose faith in players now when they go throught a bad patch?
So What ? Torres was unfit.Didnt catch the Liverpool match did you?
feck off... Seriously, just feck off if you think like that. Where were you when he was besting Torres little under a month ago?He was playing for two.
Evans lacks concentration and doesn't inspire confidence with the rest of the back four. How Smalling or O'Shea didn't get a start ahead of him is baffeling.
Johnny Evans is not good enough for United's starting eleven, end of.
Smalling and calmness...Unfair to pinpoint the loss on him, but seriously, It feels uneasy having Evans at the back. You don't get the same calmness you get with Smalling thats for sure.
He can still make it, but he needs to progress a lot faster.
Your defence always looks crap regardless who playsYour defence always looks crap when Ferdinand's not playing.
Vidic should have done better on the second.. not to mention he made the foul for the free-kick in the first place.I thought Vidic was more at fault for the Wolves goals but that just maybe because he was the only defender who attempted a challenge.
Not convinced by Evans at all. Like Wes Brown at that age, though not as robust he plays in the same detatched undemonstrative way it is hard to see ever forming a lasting central defence partnership.

If he has an injury, why play him? Its not that we dont have other defenders.Pretty sure Ferguson said a few weeks ago that Evans has been playing through an ankle injury all season and his poor form was in large part due to that.
That remains to be seen. Her never seems to look calm on the ball, is poor in the air and has made far too many mistakes this year.If Jonny Evans had just been bought then the knives would be fully out for him but we have to remember this is just a very bad season for him. He has proven many times in the past how good a player he is. One bad season doesn't make him a right off - not by any stretch. It's just a blessing that Chris Smalling has settled so well, who in my eyes should start ahead of Evans for the rest of the season.
I'd imagine Smalling is Rio's successor and Evans is Vidic's. Smalling seems to play more like Rio, and Evans, when he's actually playing well, tends to play like Vidic. He was very impressive last season, much more so than Smalling is now. I have no clue what happened to him this summer but if he can get his act together, there is no doubt that he will be Rio's successor.
On the first goal, I think it was Evans' fault. He is not marking anyone and Vidic attacks the ball when he sees it played in. Evans is just watching it go over his head.I thought Vidic was more at fault for the Wolves goals but that just maybe because he was the only defender who attempted a challenge.

Well not exactly, he was drafted in because Rio was injured in the warmup and was picked ahead of Smalling for the bench. Clearly he merited his place on the bench either because he either outperformed Smalling or he was in better condition than Smalling for the game.
I choose to believe the former.
Well you can believe it no longer. It was the latter. And if Evans does want to merit being ahead of Smalling in the pecking order, he's going to need to put in those kinds of performances as against Liverpool more often. And Ferguson is confident about Smalling's ability to handle the pressure of the biggest game of his fledgling Manchester United career.
"Chris has made excellent progress this season," said Ferguson.
"He got a bit of tightness in his back last Friday, which is why I used Jonny Evans as a substitute last week.
"We are very pleased with him. He has been outstanding since he came to the club.
"He has played a few games now. Of course, he lacks that big-game experience but in terms of the experience he has had, he has used it well and he has done well."
He`s injured.I wondered this on Saturday, but is Evans hurt? Or is he just really deep in Fergie's dog house(horse stable might be more apropos)?
Secondedstill think Brown is gone this summer.
