If Madrid had any sense they would sell him during this transfer window.
He will never have more value than now to them due to his Champions League final performance.

As good as he is, he spends about half the season injured and cannot be depended on.
Brilliant post. Bang on point.

If I were the decision maker at Madrid and someone offers a hundred million pounds for Bale, I would take it and feel I got good returns on my investment considering the CL titles won and the money paid for an extremely injury prone player.

Why would Real want Martial? I think they'll be aiming a bit higher.
Pretty much. Some people still think that Martial is the second coming of Jesus. The delusion is big.

We'll need to move pretty fast now if we’re going to sign him, the player / agent / sponsor negotiations will be complex, let alone agreeing a fee, instalment, add ons etc. No time for a Woody style saga this time.

Don't get the line of thinking that he won't be sold now that Ronaldo is gone? Ronaldo will be replaced by a shiny shiny toy or two.
It will have to be a hell of shiny toy to replace Ronaldo’s guaranteed 50 goals a season

While I posted this on here, in truth, I was talking to myself.
But yeah, muppets can't have dignity, just blind hope, vaseline and an endless supply of tissue.
Vaseline?! What are we cave men? Coconut oil or the good stuff that tingles from Durex.

As for Bale, do feel like he’ll be told he will be played as some sort of free striker role like Ronaldo had, Benzema will be a back up, Hazard brought in Isco or Asensio some sort of winger midfield hybrid and Bale will be alol sounds good, tell em I’m staying.

I have a feeling everything's on ice while we wait to see if we can indeed sign Bale as we don't yet know the full cost.

Which also means we'll probably get pied at the last second and all the other transfers we could have made won't have sufficient time either.

This is just about him getting a better contract. If we'd be in for him we'd know by know.

I don't know what I think about this. Logically, I can't see Real letting Bale and Ronaldo because if it goes wrong they'll be outside of Florentino's house with pitchforks. That said, Real fans aren't actually that keen on Bale and if they want to sign two big names or maybe a Neymar sized galatico they'll need to shift Bale and if Bale will go anywhere it'll be United.

If we sign Bale and get anything above 70% of his full form then we will win the league next season and challenge for the champions league.

Just a prediction. Don't kill me

I think it makes sense for them to cut their losses with Bale. He’s not mentally prepared to take over from Ronaldo.

Normally I'd agree, but he'd be mental if he thinks he's getting a better contract from them. He's already on ridiculous money and just spent most of a season plonked on the bench.

It's probably all just paper talk anyway. The day after they lose "it's coming home" as something they can milk several stories from the big transfer stories are back.

After Ronaldo leaving I don’t think Bale will move. But if he wants to leave, then we should be all over it. He is the best answer to our RW problem.

Headline isn’t supported by the quotes at all. Says he was frustrated not to start the final and went on holiday to disconnect from football afterwards. Am told by people who went to his q&a, that he also said, he still hasn’t sat down with his agent to discuss lack of playing time last year but still plans to as he said he would after the final.

He obviously loves it in Madrid as a place to live and work, but he’s not the sort of player who would stay anywhere he’s not playing. Don’t think this story has moved on since the end of last season from bales point of view, would prefer assurances that he will play and in that case stay but if not will entertain offers from other clubs.

People have said this before, quite recently, and I don’t see how it makes any sense.

Real are going to play him more than they want to because he’s threatening to leave? How does that work?

If they aren’t guaranteeing him a start and he tells them he’s leaving, they’re likely just to tell him to feck off. It’s not the same as trying to angle for a pay rise.

I doubt that someone could guarantee something like that. It wouldn't be fair for the other players, either.

No-one really knows what he's thinking, but he seems the stubborn type, not wanting to end his dream move any time soon.

However, unless Real have been exceptionally casual, we'll soon find out who they've got lined up to replace Ronaldo.
It's unthinkable they've sold him without a solid deal arranged.

And if they're bringing in a star or 2, there's no reason Bale will be any more guaranteed a start this year than last.

Gone back and fourth on this but I don't know why. Sign him up!

He's a player who'll make Old Trafford stand up in anticipation every time he gets the ball. Like Ronnie used to

Not sure that means anything mind you.

Jamie Jackson saying that Bale expects to stay at Madrid and that he will be told that he's important at the club:
But, this is prior to the meeting with Lopetegui. Lopetegui may just say he prefers Isco and Asensio.

Lopetegui will be desperate to keep him after losing Cristiano. I expect Bale to be the main man at Madrid next season, he may relish being out of Ronaldo’s shadow. United fans probably shouldn’t get their hopes up over this.

Yeah never mind, The Times saying that Lopetegui wants Bale to stay:
Edit: Article does say he's expected to tell Bale that. So I guess this rumour is not dead and buried quite yet.

of course Lopetegui will say that. they won't want to lose Ronaldo and Bale in one window.

Don't they tell him that every summer?
Bale isn't being dropped for Ronaldo, he's dropped for Isco who isn't going anywhere
If Bale believes this then more fool him.

I do get the feeling that we're sort of waiting for him here because we see him as our first option for our right wing slot. Also perhaps there aren't too many other options out there in the market that we like.

Like others have said, I reckon Real will tell him that he's in their plans, but once the season starts they won't give him the priority he expects. The fans there don't care about him as much and I think they're just waiting for Ronaldo's replacement right now.

There's not many players of his calibre that are gettable so it is understandable if we are going to wait and see.

I dunno about this, he made that mistake last year. Also I reckon if Lopetegui doesn't fancy him in his starting line up then he will have to sell him to free up wages and transfer funds for whoever he does want to bring in (something like Hazard and Mbappe to replace Ronaldo and Bale)

I'm amazed that all the journalists know before Bale knows anything. I only Bale had the same sources as the journalists, he wouldn't have even needed the meeting.
