A tough one to call. I think Chelsea have the superior side, but are also away from home with a European Supercup three days later to think about. Reckon we'll see a draw, 2-2.
Why do you think Chelsea have a better side?

We haven't lost to Chelsea at Old Trafford since SAF retired and I don't expect to lose this game either. Draw seems likely but I think we'll edge it.

A late Pulisic winner gets overturned when VAR determines his index finger was in an offside position. United rejoice for a draw after 5 minutes of reviews.

The midfield is the part that worries me (and all of us, I’m sure). I think at this point, McTominay, Pogba and Pereira would be our best bet to be combative. As much as I am tempted to select Matic on experience and past ability, he’s been an absolute liability in Preseason.

up front I’d go with Martial, Beans and JLingz.

    back five finally picks itself.

Our best defender (Rüdiger) is out for this and Kante only played about 20 minutes in preseason so may not start. It's also likely that we'll have Tammy Abraham up top from the start and it's a lot to ask him to go up against Maguire.

So I think you guys are right to be pretty confident. This will probably be a pure counter attacking setup from Lamps away from home.

Matic's preseason form should keep him out of the starting XI but I think Ole will start him because of his "experience". Mata will probably start too for the same reason. Caution takes precedence in the first few games but I'd love it if we were to throw the kids into the mix early on.

I think it's fairly marginal, but they have a better, more balanced selection in my view. Their midfield options are vastly superior our own, back 5 maybe not as good, attack about the same. Their biggest issues will be filling the sizeable void left by Hazard, and that, like us, they have a novice manager in charge.

I don't think we will concede, but we may struggle to create as well. Hopefully we score 2 and don't concede and can start with 3 pts.

Finally the start of the season. Got bored of this preseason all honestly.

    De Gea
    AWB - Maguire - Lindelof - Shaw
    Matic
    Scott - Pogba
    Lingard - Rashford - Martial

is what I expect Ole to lineup.

    1-1.

    What I'd like to see:

    -------------De Gea------------
    AWB--Lindelof-Maguire-Shaw
    ---------Scotty---Pogba------
    Greenwood-Gomes-----James
    ------------Rashford-----------

What I think we will see:

    Mata--------Lingard------Martial
    -------------Rashford-----------

    Shaw

    Mctominay

The players that deserve to play should play. Will probably see same usual suspects like Matic, Lingard and Mata starting again.

Very tough start. Given a defeat could really shake the squad to its core I'd imagine it will be a hard-working lineup sent out, which includes Lingard because proper strengthening in that area hasn't happened. Chelsea are a bit of an unknown, is Pulisic good enough? Giroud will surely score goals but without their star man they will run out of steam some time. I'm not sure game one will be that time though.

I'm expecting nothing but a draw - like last season which ultimately ended our top 4 hopes last season.

Not seen much of Chelsea in pre-season.

What they been like post Eden Hazard? He was a huge player for them. Don’t think they have a player anywhere as near as quality as him that can produce that moment of magic out of nowhere.

I'm just hoping Mata doesn't start. If we want to play high intensity, high pressing football he shouldn't be playing. I mean, Lingard is a better option than him which speaks volumes.

That looks really exciting I wish we started with this team but you bloody know for sure we wont.

If Matic starts we lose. If he doesn't we win. Its that simple really. The starting lineup will be illuminating. I wouldn't expect the youngsters to start getting playing time until we start playing midweek games but other key selections will matter - Lingard or Mata? McTominay, Fred or Matic?

If its not McTominay and Lingard I'll genuinely question Ole's mindset.

Very surprised if it's anything other than this:

    De Gea
    AWB Maguire Lindelof Shaw
    Matic
    McTominay Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial
Then you're in for a small surprise, cos I believe Maguire will be LCB, and Rashford might be LW. We'll probably do the 4-2-3-1 as we have in all pre-season games, but the starting players will surely be those ones.

A shame we won't start like this:

    De Gea
    AWB Lindelöf Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Pogba
    Greenwood Gomes Rashford
    Martial

I would want to try that team. If Gomes and Greenwood can be calm, and Rashford and Martial can be super fit, that could be exceptional. James to bring speed in the second half when everyone is tired.

This would be my favourite lineup. Hope this becomes a thing sooner rather than later.

    What I hope to see:

    DDG
    Wan Bissaka-Lindelof-Maguire-Shaw

    McTominay-Pogba

    James-Lingard-Martial
    Rashford

Really wish it was someone besides Lingard, but I don't know if I'd start Gomes here. Not a big fan of James starting either, but I'd rather him than Mata.

What I think we will see:

    DDG
    Wan Bissaka-Smalling-Lindelof-Shaw

    Matic-Pogba

    Mata-Lingard-Rashford
    Martial

Saw some people saying a Matic-McTominay-Pogba midfield 3 might start. Wouldn't be surprised to see that either.

We really should be winning this though. Home opener vs an uninspiring Chelsea side with Lampard playing down their chances in this game.

No Rudiger, RLC, or CHO and possibly without Kante starting. Shite luck to start the season with United and Liverpool within days of each other.

I hope Jones,Young are no where near the starting 11. Need to keep Matic,Mata out of the starting line up also as both totally slow the team down but i would expect Ole to start one if not both of them.

I'm still disappointed that United didn't beat Chelsea in Old Trafford at the tale end of last season and i'll be more than pleased with any type of win for United on Sunday.

Rashford, Martial and Lingard rotating a bit. Chelsea to grab a win.

I’m going for a tense 1-0 win. With wolves away after, it’s an early must win

It is quite clear that alot of fans have no idea what has gone on in pre season.
Some of the formations on there 4-3-3 is not going to happen.

Ole has played each and every pre season game as 4-2-3-1 why would he change it ?

I'm fully behind Ole but if he starts Lingard or Mata on the right then he's learned nothing from last season.

Derby relied heavily on one player all last season, and when he was out they looked like we did under van Gaal (I went to watch one of their games without Mount, and it was literally the most boring game of football I've ever watched, it was nearly as bad as watching cricket) but worse. Forwards standing around at the top, midfield dropped deep and nothing in-between. If that's the style Frank is bringing to Chelsea it's going to be a boring season and I fancy our chances against them.

Feck knows about our line-up though. Dave will probably start.
