R. Valladolid’s Manucho signs with Bucaspor

Bucaspor, recently promoted to the Turkcell Super League, has signed Angola striker Mateus Alberto Contreiras Gonçalves, known as Manucho, from La Liga side Real Valladolid.
Manucho joined the İzmir side on loan, the club said. The 27-year-old striker will be in İzmir this week to sign an official contract, club executives stated. He moved from Angolan team Petro Atletico to England’s Manchester United in January 2008. However, he was loaned out to Greek side Panathinaikos for the remainder of the 2007-08 season due to difficulties obtaining a UK work permit
[racist - Ed.]. He returned to the club, but was only able to play in one game before he moved to Hull City on loan until the end of the 2008-09 season. Manucho joined Real Valladolid in July 2009. He is also a member of the Angolan national team. Manucho has scored 490 goals in the 135 matches he has played during his club career. He has scored 160 times with the Angolan national team.
Manucho also revealed Manchester United had requested he return to the club, allowing United to ship Javier Hernández back to Chivas (opting not to take the option to sign him permanently). "However, David Gill's offer of a 50p coin (a shiny one) and a strip of chewing gum wasn't good enough for Valladolid," Manucho said. "Despite this, I firmly believe I will meet Manchester United again in the future, hopefully in the Champions League Final."
